Do superheros,villains and love mix???

Does adding in a love life to a superhero make or break the character. To me all it does is add on another weakness that that superhero has.. Did writers just add them in to intensify plots. I think its a bad idea in general. Especially someone like batman who is to have very few emotions. this applies to villains also. Does Harley Quinn add to the jokers character?Or does she ruin his characters reputation of being heartless?

Have you SEEN How Joker treats Harley? if anything it adds to his "being heartless' rep, I mean he turned a woman completely insane(a psychiatrist no less) and made her kill for him, that's freakin impressive.

Characters are still human, human beings fall in love. Batman doesn't have very few emotions, Hell, he's driven by emotion.

@FadeToBlackBolt: ya but thats one emotion. Not very many. He lost all of his emotions when his parents were murdered except one. Which means he has very few.

He's able to detach himself from his emotions but that doesn't mean he's lost all of them.
