For me i think Watchmen (only due to it was the most accurate to the source especially if you have seen the Director's cut) other than that this thread is gonna get filled with The Dark Knight.

There are too many good ones, but (and I know I'm being cliche) TDK takes it. Watchmen and Iron Man are close seconds, but TDK was the best.

I'm very fond of ROAD TO PERDITION.

edit: Oh wait, you said "superhero." Not even adaptations? Just general superhero? Well then I'd probably go with THE INCREDIBLES.

@JediXman: There's an Ultimate Cut? Don't tell me there are going to that crap like that they did with Blade Runner. (Theatrical, director and Final Cut) Director's cut basically nailed it what the difference between the two?

Ultimate Cut has all the scenes from the Director's Cut as well as the Black Freighter sequences (which is sold as a separate DVD. Ultimate Cut added them into the movie - quite seamlessly, actually). It also comes with a separate DVD for the motion comic.

No problem. Though I would recommend getting the Black Freighter. It was very good.

@JediXman: I have it. I made a copy getting it thru netflix when it first came out. But I mostly got it for the Hollis Mason interview.

Tough to choose between some of them but I would put my top 5 as:

1) Dark Knight

2) Iron Man (1st)

3) X-Men 2

4) Batman (1989) - "Love that Joker!)

5) Thor - (as someone said above - better than expected)

Tim Burton's *Batman Returns* IS THE BOMB DIGGITY. I remember being scared of it as a kid. SUICIDE PENGUINS! It can't get any better than that.

hmm...I'd have to say (because no one has mentioned it) Batman Beyond: return of the Joker

plus, the dark knight
(Watchman for me was slightly annoying with the different reasons for getting rid of the heroes (no alien? bummer!)

X-Men films (sans Last Stand and Origins) were all pretty great.

Superman 2 is a classic, Iron Man 1st one. Kick Ass and Watchmen all have rewatch factors.

I didn't like The Dark Knight as much as other people I guess,

Oh and Spider-Man 2 is probably my favorite. So no. there is no definitive BEST film

Dark Knight-only downside was having a different character play a main character(and I do not like Maggie Gylenhal)
Iron Man-Robert Downey was surprisingly at the time perfect for the role, and the movie was really good
first X-Men movie-kept it simple and just enough awesome
Incredible Hulk(Norton)-wish it would done better, and Norton would be back for Avengers
Batman-The first Batman with Keaton and Jack as Joker

watchmen for me, i mean the ending was a bit changed without the alien, but it actually still made sense and was still amazingly accurate to the comic

TDK
Watchmen
Under the Red Hood
The Incredible Hulk
Batman Begins
Batman Mark of the Phantom
Blade
Superman 1
Blade 2
Superman 2
Daredevil Directors Cut.
X Men 2.
I really dont liked Thor, it was ok, but without the Avengers, the movie would look like as weak as really is.

  1. The Dark Knight
  2. Batman Begins
  3. Sin City
  4. Scott Pilgrim vs the World
  5. Batman Returns
I'm not including animated films in this list, because Mask of the Phantasm is just so far and beyond the best it renders everything else crap by comparison.
