I'm starting to get excited about this. I'd like to see an original story with references to the original films (but preferably not just phoned in for the sake of it) and perhaps a director like Brad Bird? I've admired his stuff since Iron Giant and I think MI: Ghost Protocol proved he could pull off slightly more adult live-action.

Setting it "current" makes way more sense to me. If the First Class series is supposed to be its own thing, that's fine. Throw the rest of the film continuity out the window and go with it. This film can be more-or-less standalone without the continuity problems of Origins and First Class, and they can set their own tone. Continuity-wise The Wolverine ties to the original three movies, but it's definitely not X-Men 4. I'm cool with that.

I'm kind of getting excited about this. I hope it's better than Iron Man 2.

I was turned off by this initially, but I dunno. Maybe I'll check out the first issue.
