This month marks the one year anniversary of my getting into comics. It is also the one year anniversary of DC Comics New 52. You see there is no coincidence there. Before DC rebooted/relaunched I had no knowledge of comics or the characters. I mean I knew of them, just not about them. My favorite was always Batman but I knew little to non about many other characters not only in DC but in Marvel too. But when I heard last year that DC was taking back all there comics to #1 I thought i would check it out. The first comic I ever bought was the new Justice League. Little did I know that that comic would change everything. Now a year later in addition to following DC with 7 of their titles I have been shown the door to independent comics such as those published by Image. Saga is the best series I am getting right now. I find myself wanting to get more and more books but my wallet is only so big! I have now also begun to utilize my local library to catch up on the great comics of years past such as Sandman and James Robinson's run on Starman. I follow the industry closely and plan on starting my hand at reviews and doing more and more of them. My pull list continues to grow as this world of comics continues to grow for me. Not only is collecting and reading the comics fun and enjoyable it has also done somethings for me in which I will be forever grateful. I have started going to comic conventions specifically Ohio Comic Con and have been introduced to the awesomeness that is cosplay. And with the conventions comes the great people I have met. These people have now become friends and that is one thing you can never have to many of. Comics have made an impact on my life more than I could have imagined. Whenever I am asked the question "are you a DC or Marvel fan and why?" my answer will always be DC. If it were not for DC its quite possible I never would have gotten into comics and I would be missing out on such an awesome world. DC will have its ups and down but they will always be credited by me to being the one to open the door to all comics. I am an honest to goodness New 52 success story. My taste in comics are always changing and expanding and coming this November I will be getting my first ever Marvel book and I'll be continuing to add more Image stuff. This world of comics is great and I feel greatly privileged to be a part of it, so I say thank you to DC for that. Congratulations on your New 52, and I look forward to being apart of comics for many many years.
