I re-read this run not to long ago. I really liked the story but the inconsistencies in the artwork really grated on me as usual. As Superman he's drawn tall and muscular but as Clark Kent he has a completely different build, no bigger than joe average in the street. I don't know why it stands out so much to me but I don't like it.

Yeah I didn't like him either. I thought he killed a lot of the tension in the trailer particularly at the start when Clark and Bruce were posturing. I got the feeling they had to make Lex kind of deranged and manic because they needed him to be insane enough to create Doomsday, and it's unlikely that cold calculated business man Luthor would do that.

You may be in a bit of a minority on here, Truth seems to be the least favourite New 52 Superman story, and there's quite a few bad ones to choose from.

I was sorting out my books the other day to find the ones I wanted to get rid of. It was sad how many in the pile I am going to sell are New 52, specifically Superman. H'el on Earth, Krypton Returns, Doomed, Action Comics 4: Hybrid, B/S 2: Game Over, PSI War, S/W. Plus Superman Earth One Vol 1,2,3.

How come, I thought you liked those?

The first time I read them I thought they weren't to bad but something felt off to me. On second reading I started disliking the story and the characters, and on third reading I hated them, so many things were annoying to me.

It happens. The more you read, the more your standards are raised. Personally, I like only the first of the three volumes and I found it passable at least. The other two are a mistake, I wonder why DC decided to print them, then again, I can say that for most Superman comics of the last 10 years...

I agree. I liked the art but as for the story....certain elements I liked, such as Krypton being assassinated and them being at war with another planet which was a nice explanation as for why the Kryptonians never left Krypton and discovered they got powers. But I thought the villain looked ridiculous and why only send one guy???

What I also hated was that there was no reason what so ever why Clark would of become Superman. His childhood was miserable and nothing in it led me to believe that he would even remotely be interested in helping people and being Superman. Oh I also remember the moment that inspired Clark to reveal himself was so dam stupid, Jimmy Olsen decided to stand in front of a robot that was about to kill him and refused to stop taking it's picture and move, he said something like staying and dying for the picture was totally worth it. It was such a bizarre moment and it actually inspired Clark to put on the suit. Anyway I could write a whole page about what put me off the other two volumes.

Would be great if they could just start with a clean slate but without a full reboot I would want

Remove: Death of the Kent's, overly aggressive douchy broody personality, Superman/Wonder Woman relationship, everyone knowing Clark's identity, remove the 5th dimensional imps being involved in Superman's origin, remove the stories Hel on Earth | Krypton Returns | Doomed | Truth, merge Supergirl and Power Girl into one character and change the Clark-Kara relationship to be a much nicer family type deal with lots of team ups, NO MORE EVIL SUPERMAN and NO MORE FIGHTING WITH BATMAN. Zod and Faora as they were introduced in SM/WW. Luthor should not be involved in JL and should be solely a Superman villain. Also remove Lana's needless involvement in Superman's stories. Superman having access to hyper advanced Kryptonian information and technology (it raises to many problems etc.) all he should have from Krypton is his baby shuttle and his grandfathers cape. Much of Krypton's past should be left as a mystery to him until he meets Kara. The story of Krypton also should not be a pleasant one, like Man of Steel they should be a failure as a race, a cautionary tale about the abuse and misuse of power, they made many enemies which Clark and Kara have to deal with the consequences of, like a sins of the father type thing.

Keep: The updated Daily Planet/Galaxy communications and have Clark work there. Jimmy knowing Clark is Superman. Keep Wraith as one of Superman's alien villains but with a different origin that has nothing to do with unchained. Keep Helspont as a major Superman villain.

Add: Superman powers should be reduced to Byrne era levels or near about (that bench pressing the Earth bs really irritates me). More emphasis should be placed on his intelligence to overcome his more powerful enemies. Add childhood friend Chloe Sullivan from Smallville as a friend and confident. Add Lionel and Lena Luthor into the story. Reintroduce Maxima as a serious character who can be both a threat and ally to Superman. The story should just have a more upbeat tone, Clark can still have doubts, fears, uncertainty and off days, he is a man after all, but at his core he is a kind and caring man who comes from a loving home and is sympathetic even to the plight of criminals, realising that they are often shaped by factors outside of their control, but isn't afraid to role up his sleaves and get his hands dirty fighting to protect the world and it's people.

@lvenger: It's so weird seeing that classic and iconic scene of a young Clark lifting the truck infront of the Kents mixed in with all that fight club nonsense. It looks so out of place.

@azza04: Really? Superman's always been a 500lbs gorilla, why's that suddenly a problem...

Depends on the artist, and he's never been drawn to look like a thug before.

Still refuse to believe that's Superman. Why is he drawn to look so thuggish? He looks like a steroid junky with those stupid forearm muscles that are as big as his biceps.
