Did I buy the wrong comic?!? 0

Witchblade has evolved to a comic book with amazing stories and artwork BUT as I´ve read this issue I questioned myself if this was the right comic. It missed nearly everything what made this book so great in the past three years or so.  It´s the conclusion of the Almost Human story arc in which Sara and Aphrodite team-up to take out Cyberdata´s new cyborgs. These cyborgs are even better than Aphrodite but eventually outclassed by the Witchblade. Right after Sara has defeated the cyborgs Aphrodi...

In prison 0

Dellec is in prison but he doesn´t plan to stay there longer as necessary. He is accused of being a serial-killer, a guy who slaughtered numerous women and therefore he isn´t that popular among his cell mates. The cool thing about this issue was how cool Dellec reacts towards other characters in the prison. He doesn´t care at all about his life so he isn´t afraid to die. Therefore he stands his man in front of a super evil criminal who managed to control even the guards of the prison. So Dellec ...

A bit of a rush 0

In this issue we see a super bad-ass Glori Silver and a not-so-sure-of-himself Michael Finnegan. The story of the Pandora´s Box is explored a little bit further and we see some cool action scenes.  The art was okay so I will immediately come to the story. I felt this issue was a very fast read. There were some cool scenes with Glori when she was in a club to get some information how to find the Pandora´s Box. There you see that she is a well trained character, sexy and deadly. Wheras Michael see...

Great team-up! 0

The weather has gone crazy and not even Thor, the god of thunder can change it! Some stupid scientists have stolen technology from Stark industries to produce something good but just managed to bring havoc to earth. And they don´t seem to bother because they are on the moon...so no danger for them. Thor consults Iron Man and together they manage to save the world.  I know that not everybody loves JRJR´s art but I do. I think this comic was well illustrated and I thoroughly enjoyed every panel. T...

That´s it - I´ll leave! 0

I honestly tried to get into the story of Invincible. Six consecutive issues and this one-shot couldn´t make me believe that this is "The best Superhero Comic Book in the Universe!" like it says on the cover.  Every issue I read it was just boring and dumb dialogue and the same can be found here. Really, the only good thing was the art by Ryan Ottley. I think he is a good artist and he will make his way in the industry. But I don´t get the hype about Kirkman. Image United and Haunt are okay, but...

Cheater 0

Grace and Seph try to free the baby dragon again but fail eventually. What is worse, this time they had the help of two other dragons and one is now captured by the sinister Blackjack together with the baby dragon. Benoist and P.J. manage to win the fight against the fanatical techno-people and Benoist has to say goodbye to his mentor, finally. In the meantime, Malikai helps Jayden to control her powers and they become closer. Eventuall they kiss!  They kiss...I´m really, really mad at Malikai. ...

The start of something bad 0

The New Warriors manage to confront a group of villains who are superior to Speedball and co. During the fight Nitro creates an explosion that kills not only the New Warriors but also a lot of innocent normal humans. Among them a small kid named Damien whose mother wants revenge. Tony Stark has to suffer from her grief but he thinks that she is right: Something has to be done. After the Human Torch is attacked by civilains and has to be taken to a hospital, the super-human community seperates in...

Pure action 0

This issue deals with a big fight between Spider-Man and Venom. From times to times Ms. Marvel also joins the fight. Furhtermore we get to know that Ms. Marvel seems to have some feelings for Spider-Man. That´s not something strange since they dated in Ms. Marvel # 47.  This issue was just one big fight and because it was done well, I loved it! It was very cool to see Spider-Man cracking jokes in the middle of the fight. Ms. Marvel had to figt Venom more than in one way and I thought it was grea...

Apocalypse now 0

The Magdalena is the protector of the catholic church. She is trained by the church and has to be loyal to fight the evil in the world. But lately, the Magdalena has seperated herself from the church she has to protect because she does not want to be used as a weapon. Nevertheless, she fights evil on her own. Unfortunately, the anti-christ is rising and the apocalypse is not far. Only the Magdalena can save the world, so the church agrees to give her another chance. If she refuses their will be ...

Come and get me 0

Wolverine flies to Columbia and has to face a lot of super soldiers with the same abilities he possesses.   I think that this issue perfectly shows what a cool character Wolverine is because even if he runs away from a situation he does it with such an impressive attitude and of course with a hidden agenda in his mind. The scene that I´m refering to confronts Wolverine with the super soldiers. And not just two or three...no twelve men surround Logan, all with the same abilities like him. It´s co...

A lot of killing needs to be done 0

In this issue Wolverine unfortunately has to find out that the Weapon X program was stolen and now soldiers with his abilities are working for a "security" enterprise. These soldiers are ruthless killers who are showing this brutally at the beginning of this issue.  I loved Ron Garney´s art. This guy can do pencils...man, I love it! But also the story was quite nice. I thought it was a bit rushed but then it´s more of a set-up issue and therefore it´s okay. However I liked some scenes, especiall...

Useless but funny 0

Alright, this issue was as useless it could have been but it still was funny. Trust me! Hulkpool (transformed Deadpool) is send through time by a stupid Bob who seems to be unable to do anything right.  The story is very flat but I really like the idea of it and Hulkpool. The combination of Hulk and Deadpool is hilarious. In addition with a useless Bob this is a fun read. The art by Ramos fits the idea perfectly and I absolutely love it!  This issue is a read when you don´t want to think a lot a...

Art - good, story - what story??? 0

The title really captures my feeling considering this issue, The X-Men are somehow accepted among the normal humans in San Francisco. But there are some incidents with a particular form of art...  It was an oversized issue but there was not much story in it. I think the "story" could have been told in less pages. Really, I don´t want to see the X-Men joining a party and drinking alcohol for four pages or so. Nothing really happens until the end of the issue and then it happens at a speed...damn!...

Massive cliffhanger 0

Massive cliffhanger at the end of the issue!!! My jaw dropped when I saw the last page. Storywise we see two plots. On the one hand the X-Men who save the Shi´ar Empire and on the other hand Rogue in the Savage Land.  I have to admit that I was confused with the story. I couldn´t find an entrance into it, eventually I made it but it took some time. I didn´t like the part located in the Savage Land, this was rather boring. The X-Men saving the Shi´ar Empire was much more entertaining. The best th...

Drill Sergeant 0

The superheroes of tomorrow are trained by Gauntlet - a badass drill sergeant. Right in the beginning Hank Pym makes clear that there is no other option then passing the tests at the camp. During the first training exercise something really bad happens and someone dies.  I think it´s a really nice idea to create perfect superheroes who are still teenagers and aren´t able to control their powers. I can imagine some cool twists that will be occurring. Dan Slott is a good writer who produces nice d...

Thorverine 0

This was actually a very pleasant read! The story deals with the first mission of the Mighty Avengers who are "lead" by Ms. Marvel (actually it´s Iron Man´s team).  I loved the interaction between Carol and Tony when they are arguing about who is going to join the team. The best part is when they try to find a "Thor" and a "Wolverine". Carol knows a Thorverine, namely Ares. It´s hilarious when the two are approaching the god of war. Absolutely great! Also that Sentry apologizes the whole time an...

Eye Candy 0

Iron Man and his five worst nightmares...and the last one turns to be real. The issue mainly deals with Tony´s fears and a terrorist who uses his technology to kill people. Driven by the need to slaughter as many people as possible.  I don´t really care about Iron Man but I really liked the art. Larroca surely can draw. The story was average, not overly great but it didn´t feel boring or so. The few action we see lives from the art and so if you don´t like the story at all you will at least be p...

Intimidation tactics 0

This was a good issue. The story is told from Ben Urich´s point of view, how he and Peter Parker meet with She-Hulk and Doc Samson to find out the true identity of the Red Hulk who later intimidates Urich not to publish any stories.  I think it was a decent story and I really liked the fight between Spider-Man and Red Hulk. Even better was when Hulk rescued Spider-Man and had to pay a high price for this. The art was amazing. But the best thing about this issue was that even the back-up stories ...

Dellec´s motives 0

In this particular issue we see what happened to Dellec in the past, so what made him the man he is today. It´s definitely cool when you find out something about what a character drives to do the things he does but here it was just boring.  Dellec had a wife who was later killed by a young woman by ripping her heart out...ouch! Dellec swears revenge. So that is his motive to fight evil (the young woman is the impersonated evil). Then the story jumps into the present and Dellec tracks down a seri...

I want to see more 0

Mindfield is a brand new title from Aspen by J.T Krul and Alex Konat. In this issue we see a troubled Conner, member of the CIA, who seems not to be so happy about his role in the CIA´s program of enhancing his cognitive abilities. He and his partner Erika are supposed to track down terrorists with their mind. They are something like a "thought police" (quote Conner). That´s on the one side a blessing because they can now stop a terrorist before bombing a plane but on the down hand they have to ...

Character Development 0

This issue is written by J.T. Krul (like nearly any other Aspen book) with art by Marcus To.   Storywise we can see a more darker side of some characters. For example Blackjack who enjoys working for Rainier which means she doesn´t have to hold back any longer. She is now allowed to brutally kill car thieves...of course everything in the light of keeping magic under control. Yeah, right! I think somebody has some severe anger issues. Another character who shows her dark side is Jayden who not on...

Just as Tomb Raider 0

This issue marks the start for the big summer event of Top Cow´s 13 Artifacts.   We see the Disciples of Adam with their leader Elias. What do they want? Nothing more than murdering this world by opening Pandora´s Box. Definitely a good start. It reminds me a lot of Tomb Raider. That´s not a bad thing because the story is really interesting. Glori and Finn, the bearers of the Ember and Glacier Stones, have to overcome their differences if they want to stop this group. This means they have to sto...

The final issue 0

This is the last issue of the mini-series. It was not bad. But for an Aspen book? The art was really not great. As a long time Aspen fan you know what to expect from the comics: Fantastic stories and beautiful artwork. Don´t misunterstand me. The story was very well written by J.T. Krul. He does a great job. We see how the magic is resurrected and how this plays out for some, once normal, people. But the art...man...it´s just awful. The last issue is action packed. A lot of fight scenes. Unfortu...

The magic is back! 0

Finally. It´s been a long time since the first issue came out, I think it was November last year. So you see...a long time. But the issue was worth the wait.  Grace and Seph try to protect the dragons from being captured and tortured, Sonia and Malikai have to deal with their relationship as Malikai only has eyes for the new girl, Jayden, while Benoist tries to figure out what happened to his old mentor. But that´s not all...at last we see the dark origin of Rainier. And I tell you...this guy´s ...

This is why I read comics 0

I had to write a review because this is by far the best issue I´ve ever read. It always reminds me what a great character Spider-Man is.  Peter´s aunt is dying and he is captured under a massive piece of construct unit while Doc Ock´s HQ is flood. The serum for his aunt is almost in grasp but even if he could reach it he would still be captured. He tries everything to free himself but fails and fails again. Peter is exhausted from the fight with Doc Ock but then he remembers that he can get thro...

Just...bam! 0

You open the first page and...bam! You see one of the coolest designs for a train that I can imagine. Stjepan Sejic is one of the best artists out there. Not just the pencils! What I like the most are the colors! Throughout this issue the colors are amazing. The art just blow me away!!! There are three story parts in this issue: The Angelus Warriors in Hell who try to steal something from Satan himself to please their leader - "Ms. Bitch" Sabine, Dani in Heaven where she inspects her new kingdom...

Boring, dull, prosy,unamusing! 0

Let´s start with the good news. The art in this issue is pretty good but that´s all. This issue is by far one of the most uninteresting issues I´ve ever read. It was a torture to get this through!   Deadpool has to earn some money so he takes a job as a trucker. He has to deliever a mysterious cargo with his new "friend" U.S.Ace. They both get a visit by the Raccoon patrol. They overrun the raccoons...and that´s it. That is all we got concerning the action part. I mean this is a Deadpool issue w...

Love is in the air 0

Finney Bleak is a very normal person. But in his world that means nothing good because he lives in a world of horror. His classmates are monsters and his relatives are ghosts, and he hates ghosts. So you see...normal is the new weird. You can compare him to the early years of Peter Parker. He´s not the toughest guy in the block but he´s intelligent and witty.  One day he meets Jenny and suddenly his life is full of joy. But what is called the "Parker luck" in Spider-Man doesn´t wait to long for...

The roof is on fire 0

What an entrance!!! Everything burns, here an explosion, there an explosion. Alone the colors are making me lust for more. And then the beautiful pencils by Harvey Tolibao...what can I say...and that´s only the beginning. He keeps getting better and better each panel.  We see a lot of action in this issue, a lot of fights and a lot of fire. But I personally think that the dialog suffers a bit. It is almost jumpy at some times. You can´t imagine how this bubble is connected to the other one. M...
