@akbogert: Gail always does better with team books than with solos but that is because of a simple reason, She sucks at writing supporting casts, when she writes a solo she does it like 80-90% the main character and the supporting cast gets underdeveloped or just forced in there, it happen a lot on Wonder Woman where Nemesis was just "there" but he did pretty much nothing in the entire ru, or this recent crap in batgirl with the transsexual roommate, which came right out of freaking nowhere because despite having the character there for 20 issues her being trans was the first hint of character development in 2 years, and then back to nothing, she is just a token character after such reveal.

But with solos all the team members are main characters so she devotes a little time with each of them on the comic.

the problem with TM, is just none of the characters are interesting on the first look and she is devoting most of this time to the 2 blandest characters, Kathardis and Virtue.

so is just a matter of time, but lets face it, this book wont have more than 8 issues.

@akbogert: my problem with Mouse is I think i just cannot stand Simone's sense of humor

that entire scene at the begining with mouse, It is suppose to be funny, but it isnt. and Gail uses this style a lot and it very rarely works on being funny.

I think the only few times i have found this kind of ideas funny is when she used them on S6 and specially Ragdoll

but Mouse isnt Ragdoll.

and I also like Tremor, she is the only one who does seem to consider what the hell they are doing in the entire team, but she just appeared for a little while in this and last issue.

I think I agree with most of you who say that this is an step up from issue 1

BUT not by much

I had 2 big problems with this issue.

the first one is "The sweatshop" I think is disgusting, not the backstory that was used, but the fact that it was used. I think a lot of people will realize that the backstory given here is actually based on somewhat real thing. a similar situation happen in real life around the 1900s. the problem is that the book comes as somehow trying to make a point related to this, but not really. I just felt it manipulative and pointless, most likely because of the presentation, this kind of event should have taken longer to build up, instead it takes a couple of panels and comes as sad soppy story that is irrelevant to everything in the book.

the second problem is I have no Idea what is happening.

Why do they need Rainmaker? why is she attacking them as they come on? why is Kathardis going after the Mayor, then does nothing while the mayor sends his goons(police men in gear, Subtle much!) to beat the crap our of her, then she says that she is a police(which if you read the horrible Batgirl 12 you should know)

...

I dont get where we are going with this. I just cant follow it.

and finally I hate pretty much every single one of this characters.

I think Mouse is not funny and disgusting, Kathardis is very one dimensional and annoying and the rest has no real presence. even Virtue who is i guess the team leader comes very bland.

for example when Kathardis is being beaten, I dont feel like rooting for her at all. I feel like I should, but I dont want to, I know Im not suppose to sympathize with the Mayor and I dont, but he feels like a generic villain that is more likable than her who is suppose to be the Badass of the team but Im not Impress by this character.

I just ...

I feel there is a good idea here somewhere, but Im not seeing it in this pages.

This book is basically SinCity but without interesting characters. and following that train of thought, Kathardis is suppose to be Marv, but she isnt Marv.

And just to call it right here right now, the cornea killer is either the Son of the Mayor or someone really close to him, just because that is just the most predictable thing I could think

my Score: 6 out of 10

@tupiaz: "However I'm not buying this "There are not always two sides to every story – not if one side fires a gun and the other side gets hit with a bullet."

that was rich not Paul

and if there was another side of the story DC would had talk when Perez or Liefeld or any of the other writers who left did it.

@toastme69: Being Fair, issue 1 wasnt that bad

but starting issue 2 it starts to slowly fall apart and it gets worse and worse and worse.

let touch on the positive side first.

Nocenti has a lot of ideas on this book, A LOT, and most of them are fun and interesting.

the problem is that they are badly executed for the most part and on other cases they just get no attention at all.

for example the tattoated woman, is this woman with a lot of tattoos on herself and katana sees them and gets some prediction or something

That is interesting and good, I want to know more about this, except we dont, when she appears again we spend a huge chunk like 3-4 pages but we learn nothing of her as a character or her history, it is repetitive and pointless.

then is the voice of Katana as a character, on JLA she is portray as this master assassin who can rival Deathstroke, and in her book she gets her ass handled to her, again and again, the only issue in which she kinda looked badass was in the first one. Finally the pacing
.I just cant remember a book with worse pacing than this and is 100% Nocenti's fault because i have seen the same crap on Catwoman

For example on issue 3 there is this scene in which Katana is going undercover to investigate the dagger clan, she remarks on how important it is for her to remain invisible in plain sight and the scene actually plays pretty good UNTIL THE END

in the end she grabs something big and heavy( I think it was a bowling ball because i think this was in a bowling alley) and she throws it at the FACE of the guy who she was tailing

END OF THE SCENE, then we move to a different place and a different time

IGN gave this issue a 2 out 10 called it painful, CBR gave it 2 out 5 stars

and sadly the art keeps on getting more sloppy as we move on too

I know this is probably insulting and against the rules

but anyone who is willing to buy any of this books, Only for the 3D cover, is an idiot.that being said, some of the covers look good.

but most if not all of this book are not worth 3.99, and i think is disappointing that DC had to resource to pretty much flood the market with Batman books just to get better marketshare
