By 2099, the Sinestro Corps had been all but eliminated. Staying true to his father’s pledge to haunt the lineage of Hal Jordan, Adaam Sinestro led the Corps in an all out attack on the planet OA. They were rebuffed. The Guardians captured Adaam and erased his memories of who he was. They then imprisoned him on Earth. He lived a mildly peaceful life until he came into contact with the Outlaws. Starfire remembered their battle where he killed her betrothed and convinced the other Outlaws that he should be killed. They gave chase and Adaam escaped into a tunnel below the streets.
It was there that he met the wizard Shazam. He was in search of a new acolyte. He saw in Adaam a great need. A desire and passion for commitment to duty. The Wizard healed his mind, partially. He offered Adaam the chance to redeem himself. A chance to be a hero. He accepted.
A little known thing about the Avatars of the power of SHAZAM: they adapt to their host. The Egyptians had the Egyptian pantheon etc. When the avatars came to Adaam, they chose the lights of the Guardians. Adaam was imbued with the Power of Steadfastness (Willpower), the Wisdom of Hope, the Passion of Avarice, Courage of Zeal (Love), Strength of Abhorrence (Fear), and the Speed of Anger. In choosing the Avatars, they became corrupted. The power fractured Adaam’s mind.
Realizing his mistake, the Wizard sought to take back the power, but Adaame struck him down. Venturing forth, he sought out and destroyed the Outlaws. Since then, he wanders the world, searching for a man named Hal Jordan, causing untold destruction….He is Black Adaam.
I've got my own theories as to how that fight turned out, but I'll take it as Superman besting Thor. Not gonna say he totally over powers him in that regard though.
Did you know that Dr.Pepper got it's name from a pharmacist (of the same name) who employed the maker? The guy who made Dr. Pepper (who was given the idea from a friend I believe) named the delicious drink after his old boss when, declining the young man's permission to marry his daughter, helped him start his own pharmacy?
