NEW Arinya's Sketch of the Day

Had to start this all over again. I was having problems updating the thread when I would post more than 2 times in a row. Making this a blog would help avoid that problem. Here's a link to the old thread with all my prior sketches. Any way on with the sketches and this week's theme being Wolverine! If you're new to the thread my wife got me a sketch book and I have to draw a sketch everyday to revive my long lost love of drawing. Enjoy!

07/23 - Sketch #82

So we all know that Logan was engaged to Mariko Yashida. Even invited all the X-Men to the wedding! But in true comic book fashion they ended up having to battle Mastermind who took over Mariko's mind! So poor old Wolvie never got married. I'd like to see an alternate universe where Wolverine got married and ended up taking over the Yakuza clan in Japan!

Lovely sketch, and a great idea, that limit can be so frustrating :/

@arinya: Sorry I couldn't bump the last one, I've been banned for the last two days for posting "Batman" in random questions.

But great sketch! Especially amazing facial features and hair on Wolverine.

I used to hate Patch when I was little. I didn't want this James Bond wanna be...gimme Wolverine! But now I get it and it's actually funny that he thought he was fooling anyone with that one eye patch. Anyone could spot Wolverine just by his crazy hair!

@rulerofthisuniverse: No worries! You're awesome dood. Yeah I'm trying to get more detail into my sketches which are turning into drawings really. Showing emotion is important to character sketches and I can't believe anyone would ban such a cool cat as yourself. You little rebel...posting comic related posts on a comic book forum. Shame on you!

Something I'm afraid we will never see on the big screen is Wolverine in his comic book suit! My favorite suit was his brown suit. Was that his Canadian suit? The one with the giant red belt? I always liked that one. The X-Force suit is pretty cool too. I just wanna see him with his crazy devil horned mask on. By the way...anyone watching the mid-night showing tonight? Or am I the only loser that really wants to see The Wolverine?

So I went to see the midnight show and to my surprise there was a 10:30pm showing for us old farts that can't stay up late anymore and I liked it! Yeah it wasn't perfect but it had drama, comedy, action and WOLVERINE. Jackman was freaking jacked too! Man that guy looked awesome. Anyone else catch the movie? What did you think?

@battle_forum_junkie: Thanks!

Posted by Battle_Forum_Junkie

@arinya: I haven't seen it yet, but I really want to!

And another great sketch. Are you doing these on that tablet?

HAULO! This week's theme is famous movie moments. Princess Bride is still the perfect comedy and this scene and line is probably one of the most famous from the movie. There was something so pure about Inigo's quest for revenge of the death of his father that you automatically relate and admire the character. I'm sure those of you who are old enough to remember the movie have your favorite lines from the movie. There are so many of them! If you have a movie scene suggestion for this week lemme know!

Oh and the line? "Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!"

@battle_forum_junkie: Did you see Wolverine yet? And nope these are all from my One Sketch a Day Journal my wife got me so I can revive my long lost skill. Thanks for the support.

@wolverine08: Thanks alot! Fellow Wolverine fan?

OOOH! Great stuff!

Posted by Battle_Forum_Junkie

@arinya: Haha. I love that movie! It's so quoteable.

And no problem. You're a great artist.

Raiders of the Lost Ark! Man this movie made love cinema at a young age and helped jump start my imagination. Every time I'd hop on my tricycle the Indiana Jones theme song would be playing in my head. This opening scene is one of the best ever too! It was this scene or the bolder run. I picked this one because of the look in Indiana's eyes. No one writes scenes like these anymore.

@aronmorales: Thanks!

@battle_forum_junkie: Which quote was your favorite? I also loved INCONCEIVABLE!!!!

Posted by Battle_Forum_Junkie

@arinya: Love it!

Inconceivable has got be my favorite.

I did really like the part where he expains what to the pain means to the prince.

That part was awesome.

Posted by RulerOfThisUniverse

@arinya: Great one! I love Raiders of the Lost Ark (and all the others [yes, that includes 4....I honestly like 4])!!!

The final lines from Roy Batty in Bladerunner were so mysterious and sad coming from a robot that was trying to prolong it's life. When it realized it was going to expire, it spared Dekard's life and said these words:

"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like tears... in... rain. Time... to die...*"

If you have not seen Bladerunner (I'm surprised by how many people have not) do your self a favor and watch this movie that was waaaaay ahead of it's time.

@battle_forum_junkie: Oh yeah! That was a really good line!

@rulerofthisuniverse: Wha? Really? I just couldn't....after the monkey scene I wanted to leave the theatre!

Posted by RulerOfThisUniverse

@arinya: Yeah... Even though it was no where near as good as the others and he had Shia Labeouf as a side kick, I kinda enjoyed it.

And great sketch!

@arinya: Nice one. I'm going to have to watch Bladerunner now...

YOU SHALL NOT PASS! Now we had seen some pretty spectacular stuff already in The Fellowship but when the Balrog showed up and flexed his might in front of Gandalf I nearly crapped my pants. This movie had a ton of great lines that have all become internet memes but this one is my favorite and most iconic.

@rulerofthisuniverse: Your right...it was entertaining...I just had really high expectations since it was such a big part of my childhood and I really looked up to the first movies.

@battle_forum_junkie: Yeah watch it. But I gotta warn you it's abit slow. This is more of a sci-fi drama.

Posted by RulerOfThisUniverse

@arinya: YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!! < Nuff said.

Posted by Arinya

@rulerofthisuniverse: LOL...seriously. But the two other lines that I remember off the top of my head that I like were:

"Don't... tempt me Frodo!"

"In the common tongue it reads "One Ring to Rule Them All. One Ring to Find Them. One Ring to Bring Them All and In The Darkness Bind Them."

Both from Gandalf...hah! Oh and the lines from Aragon. I know what hunts you or something like that.

Darth Vader: No. I am your father.

Luke: No. No. That's not true. That's impossible!

Darth Vader: Search your feelings, you know it to be true!

Luke: No! No!

The scene was perfect and the feeling so guttural! It's also the face I make when I have to go running with my wife after our work out.

This week's theme is Grimm Fairytales! Starting off the week is Frog Prince. Of course this story changed over the years. Originally the spell on the prince was broken when the princess threw him up against the wall. Far more realistic but lacks the lesson we know now about finding true love by seeing beyond just looks. Poor prince...spell's broken but so where all the bones in his body!

Snow White was a favorite of mine when I was little. The Evil Queen always freaked me out. Did you know the original story it was Snow White's mom that was jealous of her beauty? She took her out to the woods and abandoned her! Man Brothers Grimm were cheery bunch huh?

Posted by RulerOfThisUniverse

@arinya: The last two sketches are great! Love the detail on the frog's robes and the look on the Evil Queen's face.

08/07 - Sketch #93

Little Red Riding Hood also had a very dark ending in the original story. Little Red gets talked into bed with the Big Bad Wolf disguised as her grand mother and then he eats her....end of story. Moral is? Stranger, danger... =(

@rulerofthisuniverse: Thanks! It was fun drawing the frog's robes and I had a hard time getting the obsessed look in the Evil Queen's eyes. But the sketch turned out great.

08/08 - Sketch #94

Hansel and Gretel was one of the most disturbing kid's stories I read growing up. With all the candy and cannibilism in it. It was just weird that those two things would be in my bed time reading material. Again, stranger danger...even if they offer you candy. Especially is they are offering you candy. Must of been screwed up growing up in the 17th century.

Edited by RulerOfThisUniverse

@arinya: Great drawing! Before I read it was Hansel and Gretel I was really confused as to why a child was pushing some old lady into a fire with a boy in a cage behind them...

Godfather Death is an interesting story about a man who gets Death to be his son's Godfather cuz that seemed like a good idea. So his son now has the ability to tell if a person will die or not. When he visits an ill person if Death is standing over their head they will be fine but if the Death is standing at the foot of the bed it's curtains. This ability makes him a famous physicianWell the son ends up tricking Death into letting a king and his daughter live and of course Death punishes the son for treachery by extinguishing his life early. Can't fool Death! Well at least more than once.

This week's theme is Dumbest Pokemon. I'm a grown man but every time Nintendo puts out a new Pokemon game I have the unstoppable fury to freakin catch them all! But man are there some dumb looking Pokemon. I guess the designers get bored and squeeze out a turd of a design...either that or they are geniuses that I will never comprehend. Anyway I give you evidence of dumbness with Bidoof. Not only does it have a dumb name but it looks so retarded! He's basically asking to get his dumb fuzzy butt kicked! If you have a dumb Pokemon you want me to draw lemme know. Don't act like you've never played the game before either! =D

I like your style. Keep it up.

08/13 - Sketch #97

Behold Magikarp! Über gamers know that he is actually a very good Pokemon to train if you are willing to endure the hard ships but realistically he's a pretty dumb Pokemon. Just one look at him flailing and well you wanna grow him back every time. Lemme know if there is dumb Pokemon you want me to sketch this week.

@knighthood: Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I still have 258 sketches to go! =/

Posted by RulerOfThisUniverse

@arinya: The Bidoof is super-cute and e expression on Magikarp's face is perfect!

Posted by knighthood

@arinya: Smeargle por favor. He's the artist pokemon, so you have something in common. :)

Edited by Arinya

@knighthood: Haha! Yeah but I wouldn't consider him a dumb Pokemon...he's got a beret built hair-do along with paint brush tail! He's too cool to be on this list! Unless....wait u calling me dumb?!?!? =P

Oh dumb, I kinda overlooked that part. Psyduck?!?!?

Pokemon is set in a world filled with giant dragon likes and cut furry creatures. So it boggles my mind trying to understand why a Pokemon like Jynx exists. What the heck is that?!?!? Oh Japan...we think we know you but then you always do something to make us all think...wtf?!?!

@rulerofthisuniverse: Ha! Yeah...Bidoof is stoopid cute.

@knighthood: I have Psyduck on my list...we'll see if I go with him this week.

@bumpyboo: Thanks! Magikarp doesn't get enough respect but for obvious reasons. =D

@cr4psnip3r: LOL...yep...dumb majestic flailing Pokemon.

It's a black face pokemon. Isn't it???

@knighthood: LOL...did you even watch the video you posted? It's obviously not a black face Pokemon...unless you mean that Jynx has a black colored face...which then I'm really confused now...=D
