Which are the most talked about Television Shows? I'd say:

  • Mad Men
  • Game of Thrones
  • The Walking Dead

I would have thrown Sons of Anarchy in there but then I realised that most people watch it because of Hunnam :P

As the title says...

Quick question,

is anyone else sick of hearing this from studios?

"We have big plans for these beloved characters..."

"We're going to release individual films and create this cohesive universe"...

I'm not a DC or Marvel fanboy (even though the latter may seem), but hearing that answer from Warner Bros, CW or FOX bugs the hell outta me... Marvel started this all and these guys act like Marvel doesn't even exist - that's not saying that there wouldn't eventually be more CBM shared universes in the future, but the fact that these guys started saying this nonsense AFTER The Avengers was released just annoys me. Especially from FOX; geez, just give up already.

OK, ready to take some (unintentional) heat, I guess.

@arcadian: You still haven't answered what's so great about The Avengers... Man Of Steel is one of the most original comic book movies I've ever seen. It's so much different from the classic Superman, and the 52 Superman. The action was not "over-the-top", it's kryptonians bashing the shit out of each other, what did you expect, a pillow fight? Superman has always been kind of an "action based" character, he doesn't have much villains he needs to deal with psychologically, instead, it usually ends up with a throw down. Avengers is nowhere near being a "masterpiece", I like the movie because it doesn't try to be anything more than it is, it's just cool stuff happening on the screen and it's very entertaining to watch.

OK your comment on Man of Steel being one of the most original comic book movies you've ever seen is... Lol nvm.

Firstly The Avengers wasn't a reboot of a character(s) that had to be done a second time, the movie actually gave every character their time to shine when they already had it their individual films, the movie didn't try to stray from the original heart and soul of BOTH comics and CBM's, the action, soundtrack and performances from all actors was amazing which goes back to the part about everyone sharing screen-time. The only thing I consider Man of Steel being better at is the story and once again the funny thing is that it's a reboot.

If you consider Avengers not being anywhere near a masterpiece, then Man of Steel is light-years away from being a masterpiece.

I don't like it when Warner Bros execs and (that annoying actor) Stephen Amell talk about a Justice League movie when they can't even get any character other than Supes and Bats going.

Right now a Justice League movie is a fantasy that was made up ever since The Avengers was released and when they hired Will Beall to write a script (that failed).

@arcadian: I think it's kinda sad if your opinions on movies are based on how much money they make... Let's be real here, tell me what's so great about The Avengers, other than the action and the concept of having a superhero team up movie. The dialog is bad, but it's cool so listen to it BECAUSE IRON MAN IS TALKING TO CAPTAIN AMERICA!! I don't hate the movie, it's good, but only because of the action. But Man Of Steel is a masterpiece...

Um just because I said blockbuster my opinions are only based on the commercial success? I think it's kinda sad that your asking me what's great about a movie like The Avengers other than the fact that it's a team-up.

Man of Steel was good but it's not original, we've sat through this origin story (which wasn't told very well) already before, they tried to make us care about characters we don't know anything about, the action was over-the top and randomly occurred throughout the final act making it look like the only thing the film was aiming for... I don't hate the movie, it's great but only because it's the beginning of a new era for DC.

Sorry to break the ice but Avengers is the real masterpiece...

@cameron83: In pretty much every way; acting, soundtrack, story, characters, action...

Avengers is still way better than Man of Steel; heck I don't know why people are even comparing MoS to the biggest blockbuster in the last 5 years... Man of Steel is way more on par with the first Iron Man or Watchmen.

I understand why people would at least bother comparing MoS to Avengers... I mean, considering DC has no other movie to compete with them and the fact that they can't even get Justice League on their feet :P jk

This is so true!! The only reason people like it, is because of the visual effects and the idea of having a superhero team up movie...

Anyone can say the same for Superman vs Batman - a movie about the 2 characters DC/Warner Bros have thrown at us for the last 3 decades. Difference? It's a team-up movie which, like The Avengers, hypes people up more.

@arcadian: The movie is probably not even going to be called that... And the movie will much more likely be good.

... Lol

If we were speaking the truth here, The Avengers was 2012's Star Trek (the movie that lived up to expectations and rid the fears) IMO...

The avengers was clearly made for kids.. they made the chitauri soldiers worse than stormtroopers when it comes to competence.. And i didn't even feel lbki was a threat at all in the film it.. he got owned easily the hulk like a sissy boy..

What's wrong with kids as an audience again? Oh wait nothing. As usual there's the immature haters on The Avengers who see children as an irrelevant/unworthy group to see superhero movies yet that was the general idea back in the day.

Seriously, what happened to this generation? Only 40 and up are considered worthy of watching superhero movies?
