@DH69: But... Natasha doesn't usually have an accent in the comics.  That's the point of being an undetectable superagent.

 There was a reason she dumped Daredevil, and that reason still applies.  Matt Murdock is kind of poison when it comes to romantic relationships.  They have a good chemistry, but they both like to be in charge, and their tempers clash.   It's not a recipe for an easy relationship, which was why even when they were dating, it was always rocky.

I liked her with Clint, but that was pretty much doomed from the start.  That relationship was fundamentally based on lies, so of course it couldn't hold together in the long term.  If they tried it again, now that they are both less uh, inclined to sabotage Iron Man, they might have a shot.  But Clint is hung up over Bobbi, and Natasha has done pretty well for herself with Bucky.  She doesn't seem to be feeling the "sidekick syndrome" she did with Matt; their relationship has been pretty smooth and happy.

@AngelFrost:
Her real name is Natalia Romanova.  Natasha is a nickname for Natalia, much like Bill for William.  Romanoff is an Anglicization of Romanova— she has used other spellings, as well.  So, though she was first introduced as Natasha Romanoff, Natalia Romanova would be the formal equivalent in Russian, so it's not so much a retcon as a correction.  It's also been that way for a long time, since 1970s issues of Daredevil, I think.

@Donovan Montgomery:
It was a microchip she was using to collect intelligence about the hero/villain community for her own personal use.  This was revealed in issue #2.

@SDSMP:
 Drinking alcohol while pregnant has adverse effects on pregnancy.  It is not uncommon to abstain, most women who know they are pregnant do.  This is pretty irrelevant to the issue, though, since she wasn't pregnant.

Black Widow: Deadly Origin, the most recent origin story for her, has her birth year as 1928.  So, she is 82 or 83.

Judging from the rest of that series (and some comments she's made in other books) she looks to be in her twenties.

Rikki and Bucky have met, it was fairly amicable but she has no idea of his secret identity.  She no longer has a desire to be his sidekick, that's what taking up the Nomad mantle was supposed to do, give her her own identity.  Black Widow told her off and said "Captain America's got a partner already– me" but was secretly the one giving her the new costume and encouraging her to find her own voice.

I don't think Bucky needs a sidekick.  I don't think he wants one, either, he's got enough struggles, he doesn't need to deal with mentoring on top of that.

Natasha doesn't have an accent in the comics, that was established back in the seventies, when she talked about how hard she'd trained specifically so she wouldn't have one.  So they aren't screwing with continuity by omitting it.

I think it's very strange Natasha hasn't been solicited as appearing in Shadowland.  She is one of Matt's best friends, after all, regardless of who they are both dating, and has always been around when things got tough for him before.  So, if other heroes are going to confront him, it seems like she'd definitely want to get involved.

@Gawdzilla:
Yeah, the preview does show her cradling her stomach, which was ripped open last issue, and mentioning something was taken from inside her.  I'm not sure what it is though.  It could be a child possibly, or it could be an implant from her Red Room days.

I haven't read the second issue (because it isn't out yet.)

Natasha is supposed to be sterile, the treatments they gave her in the Red Room make it very difficult to conceive.  But that mini is ignored a lot.  She was drinking wine at dinner, which she wouldn't have if she were pregnant, Bucky didn't react as though she'd lost a baby, and you'd figure if anyone would know if she were pregnant, it'd be him, and you have to be a few months along before the embryo is large enough to remove using crude tools, quickly, on a sidewalk.  But none of those things are really conclusive arguments against the possibility, if they want to make it a twist.
