Dwyane McDuffie (2/20/1962 - 2/21/2011)
Dwyane McDuffie (2/20/1962 - 2/21/2011)

To ALL CV-Users, tomorrow I have decided to declare DWAYNE MCDUFFIE DAY - A day to celebrate the memory of an amazing comic book and TV animation writer who died 2 years ago after his birthday (2/21/13). Let us all honor him by reading the comics he wrote and watch the certain cartoon episodes and animated films he made:

  • Justice League: Doom (2012)
  • All-Star Superman (2011)
  • Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (2010)
  • Ben 10: Alien Force (2008–2010)
  • Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (2010–2011)
  • Justice League (2002–2006)
  • Static Shock (2000–2004)

Could Wonder Woman Be a President?

Way back before the 2008 presidential election where it was senator John McCain against senator Barak O'Bama (O'bama wins....twice now...African-American in office), the nominees for vice-president was also historical as well: Hilary Clinton for the Democrat Party and Sarah Palin for the Republican Party. I have nothing against a woman in office, but I have always wonder what it be like for a woman to be the the president of the United States. I also how cool it would be if a superhero could run for office as well (like how Captain America came close... TWICE: mainstream back in the 1980's and Ultimate comics)

Anyway, my question for you and everyone here on Comic Vine is can Wonder Woman (before or after new 52) be President of the United States of America in DC Comics?

The Fate of Young Justice from DC New 52

Since the start of September of 2011, DC NEW 52 had six books about teenage/young heroes for the first wave: Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes, Legion Lost, Hawk & Dove, Blue Beetle, and Static Shock. About a year later, we lost Hawk & Dove and Static Shock, and gained a new book spinning out of the CULLING crossover from Teen Titans and Legion Lost called The Ravagers as a part of DC's 2nd wave. Another year later we have lost both Blue Beetle and Legion Lost...AND NOW Ravagers will be canceled by May 2013 (3 months from now)...with Teen Titans and Legion of Superheroes remaining for the YOUNG JUSTICE branch in DC Comics. With rumors of another Teen Titans book featuring both Blue Beetle and RAVEN, will there be new young hero books in the future?

I personally think that we need AQUALAD (Kaldur’ahm from Young Justice), Miss Martian, Static, and maybe an actual Young Justice team in mainstream comics. Or new characters and teams would be better. Maybe a team of young multiverse heroes (Thanks to the upcoming MULTIVERSITY series and Earth-2) and/or the return of the FOREVER PEOPLE.

Waiting for Stan Lee's Project for Virgin Comics

Back in 2008, Stan Lee was suppose to be both a writer and editor, to oversee the creation of an entirely new universe of superhero characters for Virigin Comics. This new universe was initially be anchored around the exploits of a team of ten superheroes of various backgrounds and origins. As this team evolves, readers would learn that not all of these heroes are what they seem, as infighting, abuses of power and internal struggles will slowly challenge these heroes as they learn the real villains may lurk within themselves. It's 2013 and so far....NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET. When will STAN "THE MAN" LEE get around to this project?

Ideas for Kevin Smith's Next BIG Comic Book Series

Okay, lets review what Kevin Smith has brought us in the colorful comic book world of DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT: He has brought us the return of America's beloved undercover pulp gangster THE GREEN HORNET and science-fiction's classic phenomenon THE BIONIC MAN...ALL of whom where at one point were once supposed MOVIE SCRIPTS by Silent Bob himself...what else does the ultimate, fat & jolly fanboy have hiding from his past? Are there even more movie scripts surrounding any beloved and obscured TV/Film characters? Will Smith even return finishing the cliffhangers on both Daredevil and Batman? It's anybody's guess now...

But if you have thoughts, fill free to guess what Kevin Smith will do next in comics...

Ideas for new DC Universe Animated Original Movies

With Frank Miller's Batman - The Dark Knight Returns being turned into a 2 part animated movie by Fall 2012 and Spring 2013, AND rumors about Geoff John's Flashpoint being the next project (along with unannounced movie projects like Green Arrow, Aquaman, and/or Sinestro Corps War)...I feel like there should be other ideas for the next animated movie:

  • Superman: What Ever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow (Based on the 2 part-issue story by Alan Moore)
  • Batman: In Darkest Knight
  • Flash of Two Worlds
  • Kingdom Come

Rob Liefeld: Titans Fan

Stop me if you already heard this one. Rob Liefeld, famous comic book artist/writer for Marvel's X-Force and Image's Youngblood and currently on Hawk & Dove for DC's New 52, was once a TITANS FAN. When he was a kid he was a fan of both X-Men and Teen Titans, and eventually wound up working at his dream job at Marvel with X-Men related items. At some point between the 1980's and 1990's he had an idea called Team Titans OR Titans Force, but they never happened until he and a few other writers and artists defected from Marvel and formed Image. Liefeld then took his ideas for his Titans project and turned them into what is now Youngblood.

~Connection:

Speedy/Arsenal = Shaft

Joker's Daughter's/Harlequin = Vogue (a new costume design)

Combat & Photon = the Legion of Super Heroes

Die Hard = a Star Labs android

Chapel = unknown

Anyway...with Scott Lobdell on his Teen Titans series and discovering Liefeld's interest on Titans, I'm curious if he could work on the Teen Titans as either it's artist or writer...

What I Think Frank Miller Should Create Next: THE 47 RONIN

Despite recent activity about Frank Miller (from his lastest creation "Holy Terror", for being criticized for it's portrayal of Muslims, and a strongly worded blog about the Occupy Movement) I think he should work a new project that relates to his previous works "RONIN" and "300"...THE 47 RONIN.

For those of you who unfamiliar with the tale of the 47 Ronin, it's a true based story (from 1701) about a group of samurai who were left leaderless (becoming ronin) after their daimyo (feudal lord) Asano Naganori was forced to commit seppuku (ritual suicide) for assaulting a court official named Kira Yoshinaka, whose title was KĊzuke no suke. The ronin avenged their master's honor after patiently waiting and planning for two years to kill Kira. In turn, the ronin were themselves forced to commit seppuku for committing the crime of murder. I feel that Miller needs to reconnect with himself and with a story that blends RONIN with 300, it could be possible to make him a star again.
