@mister_surreal

A golden goblet hovered in the air beside Amora’s position at the head of a long dining table. She reached for the glass, plucking it from space to take a drink, before replacing it in its suspended state. She had yet to find any replacement for Asgardian ale on Midgard, so, in the meantime, she had learned to resort to Modelo Especial to satisfy her thirst.

A young man sat beside her at the otherwise empty table. Having met him nearly a week prior while he served her at a local café, Amora had kept him, an unknowing prisoner, in her enchanted home within the woods surrounding Farmington. Soon she would be prepared to complete the spell in which she required him for.

She had lost track of the time which had passed since her banishment from Asgard. The Enchantress was not unaccustomed to punishment from her god-ruled government, as she often took rules with light regard, however being stuck in this lusterless town had been by far the most aggravating on her list of past reprimands. Since the day she had awoken in some dirty hayfield, she tried to escape, but to no avail. It seemed the combined magic of Odin and his council was strong enough to keep Amora trapped within the confines of Farmington.

For a time she had made the most of her prison: Seducing the local towns people, teaching petty magic to wandering criminals, or watching one of her victims panic when she had cast a day-long spell rendering them mute and invisible to others. She had had her fun, but now, she was more than ready to return home. She just had to cause a loud enough scene to grab the gods’ attention.

“Are you ready, my pet?” she purred pleasantly to her guest.

She guided him through the house into the front yard, where they stood under the soft caress of moonlight. The chateau had once been nothing but overgrown bushes and gnarled roots, until Amora manipulated the existing nature into a stately home, hidden from wandering mortals through her powerful magic.

The Asgardian sorceress approached the man, cupping his chin affectionately in her hand.

“You’ve been such a lovely guest, dear. But I now require a different service of you.”

Stepping back, she extended both her arms, palms facing toward the dark sky. She began reciting a short phrase, while the air above her hands began to glow and cackle with a burning light, slowly taking the shape of a long sword. Finally the sword materialized fully, dropping into her grip.

“This might hurt.”

In one swift movement the sword’s blade cut through the air, flashing under the light of the moon as it moved. The man’s head rolled onto the leaf covered ground.

Amora stepped toward him, coldness set in her beautiful face. She placed her hands on the headless man’s shoulders, several more enchanted words falling from her lips before she pushed his limp figure away from her.

Where blood poured from his open neck, new muscle and tissue began to sprout. His entire figure twisted grotesquely while bones cracked with harrowing echoes through the forest. After several minutes the transformation stopped. A massive humanoid creature rose from the corpse, with the face and extremities of a wolf and massive antlers sprouting from its head.

Amora approached her creation like an army general.

“Go into town, beast, and do as I will. I bestow upon you the strength and immortality of a god in order to rain down death and destruction. You will not stop until a magician from this Realm approaches you, which is when you shall lure them back to this place for me.”

The beast responded with a carnal howl that shook the ground beneath them. It took off for Farmington with supernatural speed, leaving Amora to wait patiently for its return. Someone with an adept knowledge of magic would be required to save the mortals from her beast, and whoever it was would be her ticket out of this dreadful city.
