I don't know why people are arguing over who is stronger in so and so area for this because honestly, what does it matter. Unless the creator elaborates further by stating that there are other superhumans around, or your sucked into a comic universe, or someone gets the powers of the one you did not choose and you have to fight,its kind of redundant.
So what if superman is faster or not ,martian manhunter is definitely fast enough to gain all the benefits of superspeed you need. So what if superman is stronger or not manhunter can can lift as much as you would ever need to lift. In fact the only way i could see a vote for superman making sense in this is if a) you really dislike the fire weakness or b) you really like icebreath(which if that is he case as with some i have seen all the power to you).
And this is me kind of avoiding the silver age superman thing because yes it comes with some nifty powers, but you can also blow out the solar system with a misplaced sneeze. It's too powerful,the excess in power is not needed and may even be a detriment. As you can guess i go with the manhunter, he has all the powers superman has sans ice breath, but plus telepathy, shapeshifting, invisibility, intangibility and so on. As for the weakness to fire from what ive seen it is manageable, so i would take the added versatility at the risk of it.
