This issue was ok. There were parts that I enjoyed and others that really turned me off. The art began to grow on me as I read through the book. I'm ok with this Batgirl relating more to trends and lifestyles of today's generation, although I thought it felt a little forced at times. I really liked her graphic memory and how she was able to recall clues while looking around her new apartment. I didn't particularly like how she made the dating profile, which included a tight shot of her face and red hair, then canceled her date with the suspect, just to show up as Batgirl seconds later. In what world (even fictional) would that guy not be able to put 2 and 2 together and figure out her identity? Later, she dives into the club where hundreds of people have cell phones and cameras. People would be snapping photos of Batgirl left and right, and those pics would be all over the internet and the TV. One would think it would then only be a matter of time before her secret identity was exposed. I guess it was fitting that the issue ended with someone knowing that Barbara was in fact Batgirl. I just feel like Barbara is too smart to put herself in those positions to have her identity figured out so easily. I'll have to check out the next issue or so though to see if I'm on board for this new direction of the book and character.
This is an excellent match-up!! My favorite 'Battle of the Week' yet. This one could really go either way. I'd love to see these two go toe to toe without any gear, armor, gadgets, etc. because they are two of the best martial artists in comics. However, with them both being in full character, I'm going to give Batman the edge.. and the victory.
Guardians was fantastic! I can't say a single bad thing about it. I'd give it 4.5 stars easily. I know Comic Vine doesn't work on the half star system, but it deserves every bit of 4.5 if not 5 imo. It had great action and tons of laughs from start to finish! Another excellent film from Marvel Studios.
I would very much prefer it if Damian would stay dead. I never cared much for the character, and liked him even less as Robin. I don't particularly want Stephanie Brown to be Robin either. I'm a big fan of hers and would like to see her continue on as the Spoiler for a while. As for who should be Robin... none of the other options mentioned interest me except for perhaps Tim Drake. I always liked Tim as Robin and don't really like the name "Red Robin", so seeing him rejoin Bruce in an updated version of his previous role as one half of the Dynamic Duo could be interesting. Plus, it would allow Tim to finally find his way back into the Bat family books, which he has been sadly absent from since the beginning of the New 52.
I'm not big on collecting statues or figures anymore because it's hard for me to justify the expense. However, I'd love to have all the Batman-themed ones on here. All of these look really cool though!
