love it. graphic novel before movie of course because theres so much more content there,
but it was cool to see it in live action as well. cant wait for version 2.5.

I thought both the Watchmen Graphic novel was brilliant and so was the movie. I actually thought that the movies changed plot ending was actually way better and more intellegent(as in made more sence) than the GN.

Watchemen was okay, but it got really overhyped and overrated. Still it was okay.

The Comedian is the most EPIC hero IMO, rapes and gets away with it... never seen a hero do that before

You have to understand that I didn't read hadn't read it until not that long ago, a little bit before speak of the movie spread. I had heard from nearly every one that it was the greatest book of all time, and that it's themes were something only god himself could imagine. Well I read it.
And all of that fell apart. All I was witnessing was not a tale of right and wrong, and strenuous moral decisions, but simply a cold war tale, popoular at that time, whilst delving into the psyche of different anti-hero archetypes. I could understand why at the time it made such an impact. So there you have it, that's why I hate that damned blood covered smiley face icon so much, because it was supposed to dynamic, but all I saw was a simply tale covered in an impressive shell of media. Personally I liked it's opposite Wanted a bit more. It's theme seemed somewhat more compeling to me.            I Guess you consider me a pretty . . . Sick guy huh?

Watchemen is, objectively speaking, one of the most important things to ever happen to the medium. Personally, it's one of my favorite series ever. It's kind of dense reading, especially if you're not used to having to actually do some reading to understand a comic fully. It's worth the initial effort IMO though, and I get more out of it every time I re-read it.

Never cared to read past Rorschach finding the Comedian's secret stash.  Never interested me at all.

It has it's place in history, though. It changed everything for it's time, but that's just it. I wasn't alive in it's time. I lived during it's aftermath, and therefore my view of it would be as such.

It may have been ground breaking, but when I finally was on the scene, the ground was already broken.

I love Watchmen, both the graphic novel and the movie. It had a great story and Rorschach is one of my all-time favourite characters.

Are you talking about the original series or the movie that carried the same name and similar themes? Is the disdain about the movie? This could be the line of distinction between love and hate.

I loved the comics and have read the graphic novel about a half dozen times. The backlash is that it ushered in the "grim and gritty" period and numerous copycats with dubious results, but the upside is that it showed that superhero books in the US  could be intelligent and written from more than a "smash, bang" perspective.

Really? What didnt you like about it? It had one of the greatest stroy lines ever (in my opinion). It tore apart the whole superhero concept. Raised alot of questions about what it right and what it wrong. Regardless of wether or not you liked it, you cant deny that it was revolutionary.
