Second, we all need to remember that outsiders often look at the worst cases to define a group they are unsure of. People who behave like this and make such crass remarks are a terrible representation of the comic community, but many will assume it is common place. This could lead to us being pigeon-holed into a category we don't belong and can scare women away from ever getting interested in comics for assuming it is all a big "Man's club"

Absolutely true, and one of the reasons that I still hear the phrase, "Oh, I didn't think girls read comics." An assumption that's absolutely ludicrous to anyone who has ever been to a ComicCon...or knows Babs. :D

Righteous article. Keep up the good work!

This series is like a drug, one issue a month never feels like enough.  It's so well written and so visceral, and so addictive. I cannot wait for this issue to come out!

G-Man, you should be commended for your public service. You're like the ringleader of the nerdiest book club ever. Watching your videos is WAY easier than loitering in the store "quality testing" the new books; I didn't even have to put on pants to do it!

@Om1kron:  At some point I definitely started to agree with you. ;P
While I do love the original comic, which I think you are crazy for never having read, what I love about it is its uniqueness. Watchmen added such a hardcore, gritty realism to a genre that was mostly about spandex wearing, lawful-good goofballs. Moore adding a beautifully complex moral dilemma to the mix that didn't fall under the category of "righteous good" or "unquestionably evil." And it is perfect the way it is, it's a finished product. It doesn't need DC or anyone coming back years later to tinker with, or to "reimagine" it, or to add new characters to the mix. JUST LEAVE IT ALONE IT CANNOT BE MADE BETTER. If you want to prove you're a good writer/artist, how about making something that is your own and comparable in greatness to Watchmen, instead of trying to make Watchmen your own.
And since I've already stopped to rant: @ stwnrpwnr, comics are in no way a dying medium. Have you even been to a comic book store? They wouldn't exist if they weren't selling a sought after product. Even corporate book stores like B&N and Borders sell trade paperbacks, special edition hardcovers, and comics in magazine form. While it can be fun to exploit the illiterate, when you make a shitty product and put a character or an author's name on it, it makes the character and the author look shitty in the process. Not really worth it, in my opinion.

@xscarletkittie:  You're right, being the last woman on earth would be WAAAAAY more dangerous than the last man. I think I too would would go into hiding. I'm not going to be anyone's breeder, forced to pump out babies until my uterus gives up and falls out. If that's the only option for human survival, we clearly weren't meant to survive.
Also, even if cloning isn't yet a viable option, if there world was full of only woman sperm banks could be used to continue to produce more female offspring until cloning did become a possibility. That would at least give the world a few more generations to figure shit out. But with an entire planet full of guys, they are basically done for if they can't get technology working for them in the first generation. Sperm banks aren't going to help a planet full of guys.

I always get that feeling when they make comic book movies. There is always the immense possibility that they are going to be disappointing. I'm reserving any serious judgment for the first trailer. Even if it looks like crap I'll probably still see it out of morbid curiosity. Although it may just be a download...

As in the chick from SNL? She would not be a good Female of the Species. Chiaki Kuriyama, however, would be freaking perfect.
