I love speedsters, Jay Garrick is my favourite, but why can't Marvel make a Speedster that Has the same reverence and attention that DC gives there Speedsters. Jay Garrick has a huge following and he's got an iconic look, he even Has a name as Silly as The Whizzer. The Flash is a silly name, but nobody cares or they think it's cool, because DC presented it that way. Speedsters have always been popular, so why can't Marvel get such a character to stick? Sure, there's Quicksilver, but Has Quicksilver ever been used properly to truly be The Flash's equal? He has it all, cool name, cool powers, even a cool look. Yet, has he ever gotten more than a miniseries? The Whizzer, goofy name and origin aside, potentially great character. He's Marvel's Jay Garrick. Why haven't they used him as such. Until recently, Marvel shunned away from it's Golden Age, pretending that Captain America, Sub-Mariner and Human Torch were all there was, retconning in a bunch of characters like Spitfire and ignoring the cool characters they had, like Whizzer or the original Black Widow. Sure Whizzer popped up as an Avenger once, but died. He never came back and for a Superhero, that's something. Another retcon speedster is Super Sabre, could've been Marvel's Max Mercury or even a Johnny Quick....but nope. What about Yankee Clipper, again, not a peep. Whizzer could be so much more for Marvel. He's popped up in stories set in the 40s, but never made the impact of Jay Garrick or achieved a Rose coloured tint that Max Mercury did or develop a little arc as touching and well done as Johnny Quick's Family and Love Life. All that came about was a poor knockoff of Johnny Quicks love life. The Whizzer May have a dead bird on his head, but the dude deserves more, he's a Speedster, he deserves the Jay Garrick treatment, he's been waiting long enough.
