no forever evil?

Posted by akbogert

@allstarsuperman: I still haven't finished Trinity War :P

Honestly, I've shied away from DC lately, partly due to their inane business practices and handling of talent, but mostly because it became pretty unmanageable to try to keep up with so many crossovers.

I did go ahead and tell my LCS to pull the Arkham War mini, however. I believe the first issue of that hits this week.

@akbogert: oh ok, im trying to just get the forever evil and no tie ins, because I have to save for the zero year stuff

@allstarsuperman: yeah, if I had finished Trinity War I would probably be considering Forever Evil. I'm waiting until after Zero Year is over to read it. And even if I wanted to try picking it up now, seeing all the upcoming crossovers made my head hurt.

@akbogert: I think its just one crossover month

@allstarsuperman: if I weren't going to bed now I'd check, but I'm fairly certain there were multiple "Zero Year tie-in" mentions in the December solicits. Huh.

God, Mara is a mixed of interesting ideas and no characters.

@matkrenz: Ha. I actually thought Mara was a fantastic character.

@akbogert: She had good character development but because it involved her becoming distant from humanity I found myself lost as to who was the human perspective to the story. It sure as hell wasn't Mara's girlfriend, whatever her name was, or the generic general dude. That was definitely a problem I had.

@matkrenz: I feel like almost every problem I've actually had with the series boils down to a single cause: this being a miniseries. Simply put, we want more than we were given; more, probably, than we could have been given in just six issues. I would love to see this series expanded, and I think covering the lives of other characters (such as those you mentioned) would be a good way to do it.

@akbogert: That was the exact same thought I had when issue 2 came out. Back when I thought this was gonna be a straight up "super star athlete discovers she has super powers" plot in a possible future. But Brian Wood has said on twitter he'll see about a sequel but he's not promising anything yet, which is a shame because a sequel might clear some problems I had also shows a lack of imagination for this universe.
