This is a book that's taking risks and I for one intend to reward that. I mean God forbid we actually have something called tension and suspense in our comics, something that's null and void if they can't die. And seriously if you think these characters will stay dead you've clearly never read enough comics. So hike up your skirts and take it.

You managed to come across as belligerent without adding anything new or insightful to the conversation, with a rapey insult to boot. I'm actually impressed.

Go work hard. Earn some money. Save some money. Inherit some money. Buy 51% of disney stock, then you can control what marvel does.

Problem solved!

Let's be honest here: if I owned Disney, my priority would be Kingdom Hearts 3.

I think most of my reasons for liking her have already been covered so I'll just say she's the complete package of a female character who could breakout and become a huge star if given the chance.

I could go on for longer but I think this thread has enough walls of texts :)

Like I said, by all means elaborate as much as possible. I live for walls of text.

And don't worry if someone "already covered" your reasons. I'm actually more interested in the aspects of Laura that multiple people are drawn to than the ones that only one person happens to mention.

Even Cammi, it seemed, had Brant discussing the option of "losing" her on Earth. Perhaps when SWORD had to choose between sending her to an alien torture camp, or sending her to Earth where she's afraid she'll be viewed as 'stupid, weak, slow', they decided that they preferred to have her take a blow to the self-esteem rather than be tortured and killed. It is not unrealistic to believe that a government agency assigns a juvenile placement somewhere contrary to what the child wants because the government does not believe that the child's desires are for the best. It happens all the time.

I'm under the impression Cammi was swiped more or less mid-conversation, from literally right in front of Brand. That's a little more unrealistic, I'd think.

I've seen this pop up a few times in my feed and I kind of ignored it because, well, I don't much care, but having now skimmed a few pages it's pretty clear this thread will be hilarious reading over the next couple days when I'm bored.

I think, just given the danger of Kimura or someone else turning her against loved ones, that whoever Laura ends up with should be really, really hard to kill, whether that means healing factor or...well, I don't know, but it would be absolutely unfair for her to finally become human enough to love someone like that and then end up killing them. I like the Elixir idea, though I don't know whether he self-heals as well as he heals others?

Definitely would need to be someone her age, maybe a few years older, but no more. Some of y'all are just sick.

Frankly, though, my serious answer (and who wants that) is that she has a ways to go before any romance will truly make sense for her.

I have a lot of love for Laura that I keep going sorry if it looks like I was just rambling.

No, that's fine. I'm planning to write some sort of blog/article regarding Laura within the next, oh, let's call it a month, and I really want to see what other fans -- the more passionate the better -- have to say. The more angles people hit, the better -- keeps me from having to create a new thread for every new question I think to ask about her ^_^

Well, so far the primary answer to "how did Arcade kidnap these kids" has been he hasn't. Heh.

@TheAmazingImmortalMan: I guess I need to hunt down Q&A stuff, then. That said, I'd consider these pretty big holes that, if unfilled, would sort of undermine the legitimacy of the entire concept. It makes sense that he wouldn't want to spend half of every issue showing external pursuit, but as of now I find it hard to believe a satisfying explanation could be provided nonchalantly. If Arcade's suddenly godlike for real -- not just in simulation -- to the point where he can snatch people out of heavily protected institutions and put them somewhere entirely untraceable by any power known to man or mutantkind, that strikes me as something that honestly needs to be focused on.

Alrighty, I presumed as much but having not really read anything about the books (I literally just scrolled through each issue and looked at the average scores/number of reviews) I thought it prudent to make sure things hadn't suddenly gone sour. Thanks for the swift replies, folks!

So I'm slowly wading my way back into comics and since I just finished reading the X-Force run that came before this, I figured I'd look into Uncanny (and hey, having Deadpool never seems to hurt). Looks like for the vast majority of its run this book was consistently getting very good reviews. So...why did it end? Was it simply time for the characters to go elsewhere, or was it selling poorly, or what?

I'm thinking I'll probably want to pick it up (in TPB, I guess?) at some point.

@akbogert: You have me mistaken, I wasn't saying that X-23 was unoriginal. I was saying that she has some of the most annoying fans.

Overzealous for sure, as evidenced if nothing else by how many posts on this thread deal with her. But the suggestion that "stapling boobs" on Wolverine is even remotely similar to X-23 is just so trite.

Given the extraordinary rarity of well-written, truly meaningful deaths in comics, I'm (and this isn't a surprise) firmly in the fade camp. A long shot is better than no shot, I say.
