The Women in Bruce Wayne's Life

Re-reading John Byrne's Superman & Batman: Generations I, II & III, the one disappointment was that "playboy" Bruce Wayne had a "mystery" wife. That doesn't make any sense to me, since there are a number of women in his life that could have been wives over the years. That got me thinking about all the women in his life from his late mother to all of his female proteges. 
 
Makes you wonder, how does losing the most important woman in your life influence how you treat women?
