No one thinks this is official LOL, just a fan poll

Oh I know but I'm seeing this on the net a lot and I feel that even though it's all just chat amogst fans a lot of people actualy expect these characters to be in it when there's zero chance of that happening.

That being said that excitement could be shifted towards Turtles Forever which has the old toon version of the turtles meeting new toon counterparts and the original Mirage versions which features all of the OT regular cast from Krang to Bebop, Rocksteady and several cameos from other universes.

I don't want to ruin anyones fun but I also don't want people to end up disapointed thinking they're going to get these characters when there's no chance of it. It'll never happen as long as the co-creator, owner and guy working on the approvals end of all things tmnt thinks those characters are symbolic of things that should be avoided.

Over the years Laird has faced quite a bit of pressure to at least use Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang in new turtles stuff but he's never budged. Even back in the day both he and Kevin used what little creative leverage they had to keep them out of the old movies.

This is what he's recently said it again on his own blog....

"Mirage owns the rights to Bebop and Rocksteady, and could -- if I gave my approval -- use them in any fashion we desired. I choose not to do that. I saw enough of Bebop and Rocksteady in the old show to last me a lifetime.

That being said, there is a little bit of "wiggle room" here. And I can't go any further than that right now."

Of course he's hinting at an appearance in the upcoming dtv project which has the new toon turtles meeting their old cartoon counterparts and the possibility that they and some other classic mainstream characters may be in the Smash Up game for the Wii. As well as their one panel cameo along with the Mutanimals in a recent issue of Tales of the TMNT which has the turtles seeing various different universe versions of themselves.

That's the most we'll get with these characters, small cameos and homages. I'm not even sure if they should be in there, the point of oversaturation of mutants and goofy elements is a valid one. Not to mention the best arument for aiming this film at an older audience is that as well as older fans the kids who grew up with new cartoon are now 13-15 and probably looking for somethng like the cartoon only more mature, the latter group arn't goingt to know or care who Mondo Gecko is or why the turtles are obsessed with Pizza and surfer slang.

It'd be like putting King Tut in the next Batman movie or the Wonder Twins in a Justice League film. Hell theres more of a chance of that actualy happening then seeing Wingnut & Screwloose.

You do realise that storywise the movie is going to be based on the Mirage comics so characters created for the 80's cartoon, toyline and Archie colour comic have zero chance of being in the movie. I don't see the point of pining for something that's never going to happen.

If we get a sequel to the 2011 film comes about and is about the TCRI stuff then I would love to see Leatherhead. I could see Karai playing a small role in the movie as well as Hun.

Cool heads prevail over the hot heads, and for all Don's tech, he's the designated geek in the series. I wouldn't mind seeing the turtles as when they first came out, when Raphael was a jokester like Mikey, and much less of the hot-head."
But Raph was  started out an angry character in the original black and white comics. It was the cartoon that made him into a more of a light hearted sarcastic turtle.

And geek or not, in most continuities the turtles would be up shit creek without Donatello.

If anyone has read the Road Hogs story story set in the "After the Bomb"  continuity were in the future a nuclear war has killed off most of America and the survivors have turned into mutants you see a school of mutant turtles led by an old age Raphael who is suffering from dementia and thinks they're his his brothers. I'd vote for one of those guys.

Slash from the Archie comic series was cool, he's was like the Venom of TMNT but seeing as he first appeared in the 'tweener period were they were slowly moving away from lighter stories to darker he was given a comedic edge of just wanting his palm tree. Sadlyby the time the book did go darker they'd made Slash a hero. I would've kept him as a bad guy longer just to see if he was all talk or whether he really wanted to eat the the turtles.  The cartoon version wasn't really much, even though "Slash the Evil Turtle from Dimenion-X" is a good episode the cartoon Slash just wasn't as good. Subsequent episodes he appeared in weren't much. They should have also kept his look like the Archie comic and action figure version too.

The less said about Venus the better.

Egan, the link you posted was to one of Archie's specials after Clarrain and Allen left the book. The turtle in question is actualy April temporarily changed into a turtle.

The gameplan for the Live Action movies is that it would follow the storyline of the original black and white Mirage comics while borrowing elements from cartoon like the surfer slang and an obsession with pizza but mainly kept in check. For various reasons the suits wanted the sequel to follow the cartoon more including adding Bebop and Rocksteady. Eastman and Laird both disagreed with this, they created the characters for specificaly for the cartoon and toyline the felt that the they were and as bufoons and used what little creative leverage they had to keep them out. So two new mutants were created to take their place. After many rewrites, the film become more comedy based and Tokka and Rahzar turned out just as dumb as Bebop and Rocksteady.

Secret of the Ooze did use elements from the comic such as the TCRI (renamed TGRI) part of the story. It was going to be revealed that Professor Perry was an Utrom but it written out for fear that kids would jump to the conclusion that he was Krang, another character that would never be in a film.

The third film was based on a comic storyline "Masks". I kinda feel that it was a bad choice to adapt as the comic storyline used a time travelling villain which the turtles had faced many times before, the movie had to give them a contrived rescue plot to get them back to feudal Japan. The biggest hit though is that Henson wouldn't do the costumes due not wanting to ascociated with TMNT. I do think the film gets judged harshly but I guess fans wanted more along the lines of the mainstream version with Shredder etc.

The 2007 film is pastiche of all the different TMNT universes taking inspiration from both of the cartoons, the original comics and even the Archie version. I was a bit disapointed as the first season of the new cartoon proved you could adapt the comics for kid audience without losing too much but there's a lot there to like if you're a fan of TMNT in general. The characters are spot on and the Leo and Raph fight is a definite highlight of all the films. Even if you're bothered by no Shredder he's mentioned and alluded to being in a sequel. Probably the second best film of the series.

Mirage and Imagi arn't seeing eye to eye on a sequel direction though. The rumours are that they go elsewhere and it may be a complete retooling from the beginning, possibly a live action with cgi turtles.
