A TMNT Daredevil crossover was apparently seriously discussed between Marvel and Mirage back in the late '90s but obviously nothing ever came of it.

According to Dan Berger last year Mirage approached Marvel with the idea of crossovers between the TMNT and some of their characters and there was a lot of excitement from the creative and editorial staff but the big wigs passed because they didn't want the turtles to establish a bigger market presence.  Now that the TMNT is owned a big company I'd imagine they'd be even more opposed to the idea.

the problem with the idea of a crossover is we have no idea what's going on with the TMNT series now that Nick owns the rights to the TMNT...even before the deal happened the comic was only releasing a new issue once every couple of years...who knows what's going to happen to the series now

We had Tales of the TMNT which was published monthly any of the writers who worked on that could write it and Mirage has reserved the right to publish 18 issues a year and distribute them however they want but they arn't taking the opportunity at this time. Though I doubt they'd be the ones publishing a book of this type anyway, it'd be Marvel themselves and with Nick involved they'd want to be either the versions of the turtles from their upcoming movie which is still supposed to be a "darker" Mirage-eqsue adaption or the ones from the cartoon they have in development which is supposed to be a return to the 80's pizza eating, surfer slang, endless mutant animals, Dimenion-X turtles.

Turtles Forever will be playing in Theatres for one night only similar to how they do it for some anime movies.

It'll also have a behind the scenes things after with Laird showing how they did the comic in the early days and rare art etc.

I like it a lot and the choice of music is quite clever. I wish they'd used the ad to reveal at least some of the remaining four characters are. Seems they're determined to keep that secret until the game release.

" I don't get it.... Time traveling? "
Not really. Basicaly it's just a trip across the multiverse with the old toon characters landing up in the new toon universe. Near the end it goes all Crisis on the Infinite Earths with new toon Shredder doing his best Anti Moniter impression.

It's made to celebrate almost all the various turtle incarnations but the main bulk of the movie focuses on both cartoon versions.

" wait what is Turtles Forever?.......a cross between the original cartoon and the new one?... or just...fake? "

Pretty much what Danhimself said except there's a bit of trouble finding someone to distribute it so it'll probably air on tv in three parts before the dvd comes out and I don't think it sounds stupid lol.

The characters from the '87 series crossover with the 2003 series, they also meet the original black and white turtles from the Mirage comics.

" Wonder why Lairid sees Krang, Rocksteady and Bebop as horrible characters the fans love them after all, guess we the people who buy the comics and watch the show are wrong about Slash, Rat-King, Jagwar, Mondo, Wingnut, Screwloose, Ninjara, Maligna, and Null too "
Well Rat King is a Mirage character so he'd be okay to include...

As for the rest of the characters you mentions he doesn't see them as awful characters. He was the one who created Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang specificaly for the original toyline and cartoon. He did several covers for the old archie book and designed Armaggon.

With a lot of these characters he and Eastman didn't like how quickly they went from being badass in the first season to being goofy and reduced to comic relief in the following seasons. He claims not to hate or even dislike the old toon but thinks it's best left in the past.

Another issue he has with these characters is the oversaturation of mutants in the old toon and that having a new mutant every week  makes the turtles less special. Look in comparison in the new toon how it's just the turtles, Splinter and Leatherhead. Any other mutant is sparce and mostly either dies like the mermen in "Sons of the Silent Age" or demutated like diggers from "Notes from the Underground"

He does have a point. How can you create a serious movie based on his original comics and include goofy characters that were made specificaly for a kids cartoon and it's not like these characters would work in a Mirage-esque setting anyway. Like I said before it'd be like including the Wonder Twins in Justice League movie or having Christian Bale do the Batusi.

It's not like the characters are completely forgotton anyway. You have Mirage publishing the Forever War in December which was Archie's final storyline that never got made. You saw a cameo of the Archie turtles Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang in a recent issue of Tales which a montage of the different universes. You have the Techodrome and the possibility of ot characters in the Smash Up video game....

and you have Turtles Forever DTV movie which suprisingly features OT characters heavily and according to people who saw the screening in San Diego features the OT Turtles, Shredder Krang Bebop, Rocksteady, Tokka and Rahzar as well as yet another montage of various turtle universes.
