Most comic book superhero names pretty much suck. Most of them are anachronistic relics from a bygone era. I think if we were to create comics anew we'd have a totally different comic nomenclature.

I've always viewed it as Wayne's more skilled (though that's hardly insulting Slade's talents), but Slade's raw physicals and tactics overcome.

This.

Agreed.

Batman is my favorite hero, but the rest of my favorite characters reside in Marvel (with a few exceptions), so I consider myself a Marvel guy, but this got me jazzed up. I didn't have high expectations for this movie at all, but now they are through the roof.

I can be so negative and cynical, but it's refreshing to sincerely crush on something once in a while.

I love what Nable does with what he is given on "Arrow," but Neeson changed what I think of when I think of Ra's Al Ghul. If only it had been in a Batman film universe more faithful to the source material.

I think with the emerging success of superhero movies and series (e.g., Daredevil on Netflix) we will begin to see attempts at creating characters and stories outside of comic books. I don't know if you will get superhero teams, per se, but I could see HBO creating an original character and going after it.

"Goodbye, Alfred." This should've never been uttered.

As some have said, I'm all about the story. If they find a good reason to bring him back, then by all means, but not to suit up as Robin, and not as Jason Todd 2.0. They have an opportunity to do something cool here.

@runnerup: I could take a few of those things in very moderate, limited doses, but I'm with you.

@legacy6364: Agreed wholeheartedly. The world would revere mutants (at least the good ones). And permanent death.

So, say a very talented group of individuals decided to create their own brand new comic universe of superheroes. What do you believe would be the best medium to put this forth?

Of course, for the sake of argument, let us suppose that budget and publishing platform/infrastructure isn't an issue. Would you prefer it to start out on the printed page as an actual comic? This way, it would stand to reason, you could have a handful of separate, distinct series so you could probably flesh it out and give it more depth than you could in other mediums.

Or would you rather see a fully-supported one-hour series on HBO give rise to a new universe of superheroes?

What about as a film? Or even a video game?

As for me, even though I am a hopeless movie buff, I am mostly intrigued by the possibilities of a well-done, high-budget HBO series. Just got to thinking about a new comic universe that wasn't tethered and restrained by the old traditions and histories of the ones we're all too familiar with. (Though, granted, these same familiarities provide tremendous immediate backstory and richness that do not need to be told through exposition or precious screen time.)

Also, what kind of new universe would you like to see?
