Welcome to America Born in the ghetto of Palo Alto, Sarah is the youngest child of seven and is the only one in her family who is a first generation American. Her family crossed the Mexican-American border when her mother was five months pregnant with her and went up to Palo Alto for a new life. Growing up Sarah was always treated as a brother, rather than a sister. Wrestling, playing in the streets, stealing fruit from the neighbors trees, swimming in the canals, you name it, she did it with her brothers. At the age of 8, while coming home from school, immigration came by and took her parents, along with her brother Marciano who was staying home from school sick that day. She watched as her mother, father and brother were taken as she and her brothers ran from the scene, as her brothers didn’t have citizenship either. With no other family to lean on, the Castillo kids were left alone to fend for themselves. Lucky Sarah's eldest brother, Alburto, had already graduated from high school and was working construction and even was able to get a small apartment for them, for the moment.
Norteno Things were rough, money was always an issue and while Arturo graduated and was working at the same construction site too, it wasn’t enough to keep up with all the bills. Alburto was eventually approached by a man who ran a local gang, Nortenos, and was promised money to help him and his family, all he had to do, was deal drugs out of the apartment. Alburto was hesitant at first, but with the weight of his siblings on his shoulders, he eventually accepted. But as the money began coming in, the other brothers slowly began joining as well, one by one.
Drug addicts and other Norteno gang members were always lingering around the apartment. Sarah’s exposure to all of this forced her to become harden and grow thicker skin, especially when the drug addicts began to become hostile in their home and at one point, at the age of 10, Sarah had to physically fight when a man who was high on meth, tried to kidnap Sarah as leverage against her brothers. Of course, Sarah won the fight and the man was taken to the hospital where he suffered a fractured jaw. It was around this time Carlos used his money to get his sister some fighting lessons.
The Birth of “La Locura” Carlos had Sarah take lessons in a couple of different fighting styles such as, boxing, kickboxing and Krav Maga but her love was in boxing. Her brothers (while all involved in the Nortenos) kept Sarah busy by keeping her in her classes in order to keep her out of the gang life, not that Sarah refused, she loved to fight. Thanks to growing up with brothers, Sarah knew how to take a punch, and by channeling her anger and frustration into it became a fighting machine that didn't know how to give up.
After a couple of years of training, Sarah began competing in boxing and quickly gained the nickname “La Locura” (The Mad) because during interviews, she has made comments about getting her adrenaline so high up during a fight she would “black out” in the middle of it and not remember half of it when she came back to.
Her career as young boxer carried her up and down along California as she competed in several tournaments and while she didn’t win all of them, she always placed top ten in the state. She continued to compete in tournaments until she graduated from high school.
V-Street When Castillo was in the 10th grade, the rival gang, V-Street, began to make themselves more prominent in Palo Alto. Because of this, Castillo’s brothers began staying out later and working harder to try and keep V-Street from taking over their own territory. But because of this, her brothers got sloppy and one by one they ended up going to jail with the exception of one... Esteban, who was killed by the rival gang, V-Street, after he tried expanding Nortenos territory on his own.
This caused a massive shootout between both gangs, and forced Castillo out of her home. She lived with Arturo’s girlfriend at the time, Yadira Solis and the two never got along. Torn by the death of Esteban and the arrest of her other brothers, Sarah took it upon herself to destroy V-Street herself. Armed with a gun she began her walk to one of their dealers homes at 2 am, hoping they would be caught off guard, when an officer pulled over to her.
The officer questioned her on what was going on, and saw that the young Sarah was visibly upset. She told Castillo to get in the car, and not wanting to draw more attention to herself, Castillo did. The two drove around for hours, and mostly sat in silence, until Sarah broke it by asking the officer why they picked her up.
With a half a grin, he let out a sigh. He began explaining that Sarah looked like she was about to make the biggest mistake of her life. The look in her eyes was the same look he saw whenever someone did something that they would regret later and he didn’t want someone so young to make that mistake. He began telling her his own life story, how he used to run with people who weren’t a good influence in his life and how he made mistakes he regretted and began telling her his story of how he got into the Police Force and how he tried to keep kids making the same mistakes he did. The two talked (mostly the officer) and by the time they finished, the sun rose and he took Sarah home.
Sarah thanked the officer, and as the officer drove off, it was in that moment, that exact moment, that Sarah knew she wanted to become a police officer.
Officer Castillo After graduation Castillo went to school to become a police officer. Most of her friends, and especially family didn’t understand. Why an officer when her brothers were so involved in the gang life? Most of her brothers (aside from Carlos) refused to speak to her. Even though none of them wanted their little sister to be involved with the Norteno like them, they felt that being an officer was even more dangerous and almost disrespectful to them. But she didn’t care, because for the first time, she was making a choice she wanted to make.
She passed her schooling with flying colors and in no time, she became Officer Castillo. Her first city to police in? Why Los Angeles of course. It was there Officer Castillo became known for her abusive nature and no bullshit meter as she would run on foot to catch the criminals. But also known for getting highest arrest ratios in the precinct. It was also in this city where she met her now long time friend, @special_agent_crews . While the two were basically opposite in nature, they worked great together.
Agent Castillo
Powers: Sarah has no super power abilities to speak of. She is simply a tiny Latina with a lot of anger, which sometimes makes it seem like she may have some powers.
