@Amelia_: "It's not just your battle anymore." she replied sharply, "If he hurts you, he hurts me." She bit her lip and released a pent-up breath from her nostrils. "But you're right..." she sighed at last, "Let's focus on keeping you safe."

@Amelia_: "Alright..." Melissa whispered, "Step one, get you to the Beacon and keep you from feeding on human until Janine and Longshot come up with something final. Step two..." her eyes burned as she finished, venom in her voice, "Kill Tanner Brenkov."

@Amelia_: Melissa buried her face in Amelia's shoulder. She couldn't afford to be like this. She couldn't afford to fall apart when Amelia needed her. She sucked in a lungful of cold air and pushed everything back down where it belonged.

@Amelia_: "Yeah, well, I think you might've infected me when you were sucking on my wound, 'cause I caught the self-loathing virus." she sighed.

@Amelia_: "You could've held out longer," Melissa replied, wiping the crust from her weary eyes, "You could've held out until we figured something out. If it weren't for me."

@Amelia_: "No... it's just..." she ran her fingers through her hair, trying to find the words and settling on the blunt approach, "It's my fault you tasted human blood."

@Amelia_: Melissa rubbed her eyes and groaned, "Christ..."

@Amelia_: "What do you mean?"

@Amelia_: A plume of fog escaped between her teeth. She bowed her head as she spoke, "We're all still working on it. All of us, we're all looking for a cure." She swallowed the four words she really needed to say.

@Amelia_: "You kiddin' me? Wouldn't miss this with the world." she replied, breathing into her cupped hands and stuffing them in her pockets.
