Sector 13 Base

Sitting at his desk, Anderson was leaned over with his hands over his temples.  On the desk in front of him was an open file folder with disclosed information in it regarding Kurrent's arrest.  "This is absolute horse sh*t." he kept saying to himself over and over again.  Before, the entire situation had been about world security.  The PROFESSIONALS were handling it.  Now, the cursed object of POLITICS had become involved.  Anderson thought back to the times when Secret Service agents came into Sector 13 and took the security tapes away.  He remembered Alpha Guard and Marvel Knight being sworn to secrecy over what they had witnessed.

Now, it seemed as if it had all been "swept under the carpet" in a sense.  When the government looked closer into Sector 13's operations, Anderson had been put under the microscope.  While it appeared as if he was going along perfectly with everything, Anderson was not the type of man that would be content simply taking orders from politicians and bureaucrats.  He was a soldier.  He knew what needed to be done in order for the greater good.  While corrupt politicians lay comfortably in their beds at night, an innocent man was being held prisoner.

One thing was for certain, Kurrent's location had been identified.  Apparently, it was in a secure facility up in North Dakota.  No doubt, the authorities had taken the proper precautions in making sure the hero could not use his abilities to escape.  Furthermore, Veritas, Inc. was now public enemy number one.  Any attempt to break Kurrent out of the facility would bring even more fire down upon the name of Veritas.  If true justice was going to be obtained, it would have to be done most carefully.  As it so happened, Anderson was good at being careful.  Despite the constant government probing, he hand managed to keep the most important aspects of Sector 13 still secret.  Somehow, he had to get word out to the rest of Veritas, Inc. to let them know that they were not alone in this fight.

This all would take so much time.  However, Anderson had not forgotten about Apocalypse just yet.  The way he saw it, the government could no longer be trusted.  Therefore, he went to someone who had lived his entire life "off the radar."  That man was William Greystoke.  A while back, Anderson had enlisted the help of the one known as "The Hunter" to make a team and discover the whereabouts of Apocalypse.  It had been many long weeks since he had heard back from Greystoke.  At the moment, Apocalypse possessed one of the deadliest weapons of all time: the body of Doomsday.  In his hands, there would be not telling what he and Sinister could accomplish.  Time was of the essence in this matter.  While politicians were being concerned about their position, their very existence was about to be threatened.

Reaching over, Anderson activated his communicator.  "How long until the project is complete?" he said.

"Two more days." a voice on the other end replied.

"That's not good enough, son." Anderson said.  "We need it up and running in less than twenty-four hours."

"We'll try sir... but we just want to make sure the combative skills of each member are up to p-...."

"Trust me on this!" Anderson interrupted.  "I know that formula better than anyone!  They'll be ready!"  With that, he disconnected and leaned back in his chair, putting his hands over his face.  "I swear...." he said under his breath.  Anderson got up from his desk then and put on his wrist device.  As he exited the doors to his office, he had them sealed.  They could not be opened without his voice authorization, retina scan, AND palm print.  That was the level of secrecy which was in there.  As he walked through the corridors of Sector 13, he made his way to the Gate.  It was time to pay a visit to North Dakota....

On top of the defensive pyramid, Agent Anderson and the rest of Alpha Team made their stand.  Anderson raised his LMG and fired several bursts, taking down Apocalypse's hordes left and right.  Suddenly, out of nowhere, Marvel Knight burst onto the scene.  The new hero's abilities were being utilized to the fullest.  During the initial procedure, neurological changes were made to aid the host in quickly adjusting to the abilities which they were given.  Instead of a prolonged period of adjustment, the host's body accepted the new abilities and the brain was tuned to react instinctively - allowing the user to harness the abilities quickly.

After quickly dispatching of several Infinites, Marvel Knight was struck and his body was sent flying.  Landing near Anderson, Marvel Knight quickly jumped to his feet and told Anderson of Gambler's escaped.  "Don't worry about him for now!" Anderson yelled as he pierced an Infinites skull with a bullet.  "We'll get him later!"  As another Infinite charged up the pyramid, Marvel Knight suddenly raised his plasma gun and fired off a powerful burst which stopped the Infinite dead in its tracks.

"Where the Hell is Doomsday?" the Knight asked.

Stomping his foot on the hatch he was standing on, Anderson replied, "He's down there!  We MUST defend it at all costs!"  Just then, from across the laboratory, another group of heroes entered into the fray.  They were a godsend in their time of need.  Right away, Anderson noticed one of the men to be the legendary hero known as Andferne.  The skillful shield mastery, enhanced movements, and powerful optic blasts were a dead giveaway.  "I'll be damned.... he's come back...." Anderson said to himself.  Fighting through it all, Andferne managed to make his way up the pyramid towards Anderson.

"Are you Agent Anderson?" the hero inquired.

"Yes, I am." Anderson replied.

"Kurrent is in the upper levels searching for you... Apocalypse is getting close as we speak and this entire building's structure is at risk.  You better have on Hell of a contingency plan or we are all going to be buried under tons of rock real soon!" Andferne said.  Agent Anderson could detect the urgency in the hero's voice.  At that moment, that location needed to be defended at all costs.  A raging battle was taking place on the exterior.  However, right there in the interior of the mountain fortress, things were about to become extremely dangerous.  Nothing could prepare them for what was about to happen next.

Suddenly, there was a massive explosion above as rocks, concrete, and other building materials came crashing down from above.  As the dust cleared, out stepped... Apocalypse.  Anderson's eyes widened as he looked upon the mutant.  "Fire!" he yelled.  However, more Infinites suddenly began to pour into the laboratory.  It was like they had been planning it all along.  The creatures swarmed suddenly like locusts.  The super soldier's sprang into action to fight off the Infinites.  However, Anderson kept his eyes locked onto Apocalypse.  Raising his LMG, he fired several bursts towards the world conqueror which had very little effect.

Just then, Apocalypse raised his arms and fired a massive blast of energy down upon those who were defending Doomsday's body.  The blast sent Agent Anderson's body flying backwards.  His back slammed onto the ground as he hit it and fell down the pyramid.  Luckily, his L1 Survival Suit kept his body in-tact and protected him.  However, the blast had severely knocked the wind out of the human.  Some of the super soldiers quickly rushed to their feet, recovering quickly from the blast.  They leaped upon Apocalypse, but they were no match, being quickly knocked to the side.

Anderson was injured.  Already, he could tell that one of his ribs were broken and his left arm was dislocated in three places.  Then, Anderson's heart sank as he watched Apocalypse leap down onto the defensive pyramid.  The being then reached down, ripped off the hatch door of where Doomsday's body was being preserved, then reached inside.  "Nooooo!!!!!!!" Anderson yelled at the top of his lungs.  Quickly, he drew a pistol and began firing directly towards Apocalypse's head.  However, a large Infinite suddenly jumped down behind him and struck the agent in the back of the head.  On the ground, Anderson looked up to see Apocalypse reach down into the hatch and grab something.  With that, things became dark and Anderson slipped out of consciousness.....

Anderson needed to know what was going on.  Even though it felt like he knew everything already, the agent still appreciated a little cooperation every now and then.  Watching intently, Anderson stood by as Nobody underwent a radical transformation.  In a matter of minutes, the transformation was finally complete.  As Nathan's body emerged from the chamber, it was a masterpiece.  Scans indicated that every aspect of his physiology was well in-order.  When the new Marvel Knight awoke, he would find everything correctly in-place and his orders waiting for him.  Just then, a loud alarm suddenly went off.  Immediately, Anderson knew what it meant.  Apocalypse had arrived....

Leaving the laboratory in a rush, Agent Anderson began to make his way to the central command center within the base.  As he was making his way from the laboratories, he pressed his earpiece and spoke into the tiny microphone.  "I want all available super soldiers up and running.  I want Alpha Team to assemble and rendezvous in the central lab and wait for my arrival.  I want the other teams to assemble at the central command center." he said.  At that moment, fifty of Sector 13's super soldiers were preparing for the fight.  With each of them suiting up in an L1 Survival Suit and carrying one of the L87 LMG's, they were ready to go.  The ten known as Alpha Team would assemble near Doomsday's body and await Anderson's arrival.

After throwing on his own suit of armor, he continued towards the central command center.  As he entered the central command center, reports were already flying in.  Several individuals and troops were already out fighting Apocalypse's hordes.  Immediately, all the gunner stations were ordered to counter-attack.  Out of the mountains, large cannons rose up and pointed towards Apocalypse's horde.  Immediately, powerful gigantic repulsor ray blasts were fired from each station.  However, the station around the western wing of the base was not firing.

Cameras inside the west wing of the base revealed that it was under attack.  "Son of a bitch...." Anderson muttered under his breath.  However, relief came in the form of Alpha Guard.  A smile came over Anderson's face as he watched Marvel Knight arrive on the scene.  "Now that's what I'm talking about." he said with a smirk.  Looking at Beta Team, he said, "Go offer assistance.  When you find the Cajun, tranquilize him.... I want him alive...... Kill V.  She's no longer of any use and she's an enemy of the state.  Kill her on sight.  Go!"  With that, the ten super soldiers of Beta Team made their way to aid Alpha Guard and Marvel Knight.  Beta Team specialized in stealth.  They would quickly activate the cloaking devices built into their armor, arrive near the scene, then utilize sniper tactics.

Control of the repulsor batteries from the west wing was rerouted to central command and began to open fire on Apocalypse's forces once more.  Gamma Team and Delta Team were ordered to the base's exterior to aid Kurrent and the others in battle.  The remaining ten were sent to patrol throughout the base and offer assistance if needed.  Suddenly, Apocalypse was revealed on the screen coming directly at the base.  The world conqueror himself had actually engaged in battle and was smashing troops left and right with his bare fists.  Kurrent could be seen earlier fighting off foes left and right.  A few minutes later, he was gone.  "Where the HELL is Kurrent?" Anderson yelled.  Then, pointing to one technician, he ordered, "You!  Scan the area for Kurrent's bio signature!"

Just then, something thunderous rocked the entire base.  Apocalypse's artillery were firing upon the mountain fortress.  If they got through, it would only be a matter of time before they reached Doomsday.  Suddenly, a perimeter breech was detected.  Already, enemy units were pouring into the base.  Without wasting a single moment, Anderson activated his wrist device, dialed in coordinates, then teleported into the central lab.  Already, Alpha Team was there ready to make a stand against whatever would come its way.  "Alright, let's seal it away!" he yelled.  The large container which held Doomsday's body was in the middle of the enormous laboratory.  Suddenly, the floor around it began to rise.  The capsule and the area around it began to rise up in the form of a pyramid inside the gigantic structure.  That way, it would present a tactical advantage, making sure that their enemies would have to come up to them.

The capsule containing Doomsday's body then slowly lowered down into a secure armored space under the flooring made especially for the chamber.  Thick doors then shut over it, sealing the capsule inside it's armored space.  Over the hatch, Anderson and the ten super soldiers made their stand.  All of the scientists were put into a panic room.  The machinery and computers then slowly disappeared into the wall as vibranium-armored protective covers sealed away the computers to safeguard the research  The room was completely empty except for Anderson and the rest of Alpha Team.

Just then, cries and weapons fire could be heard.  They were coming.  Agent Anderson's heart quickened.  He and the ten super soldiers felt as if they were waiting for lightning to strike.  Truth be told, many soldiers had been killed previously due to the insurrection by Dark Reign.  Raising his L87, Anderson was ready.  Suddenly, Infinites mounted upon hovering vehicles burst into the laboratory.  Anderson and the rest opened fire.  At all cost, Doomsday's body HAD to be defended.  They could not waver one bit.  The fate of the world was about to be determined in the next few minutes......
