I liked the videos so far, but if I could offer a suggestion, maybe an established set of criteria for this series could make it more streamlined and cohesive; at the moment it seems a bit jumbled and disorganised. Keep it up though, its interesting to see what you guys find each week.

Ok so Ultimate Spider-Man might just be the volume that started it for me. After I got sucked in and spent a lot of money on all the trades, I started following monthly comics and became more involved in the community. I've been on here for a while now, and seeing as how I'm mostly the only comic book fan I know, I wanted to ask you guys what your favourite issue or story arc of Ultimate Spider-Man is.

For me it would either be the Clone Saga or the Hobgoblin arc. Both took existing storylines and (in the case of the Clone Saga) made them better or (in the case of the Hobgoblin arc) approached them in new and interesting ways. Let me know what you think.

Venom and Scarlet Spider crossover has the potential to be frickin great. Two darker spin-off Spider-Man characters fighting one of the darkest spider-man foes. If Wells and Crain are back on then i'll definately forgive the unfortunate name.

This goes beyond comics, but Captain America as a soldier gets ignored? So killing people in war doesn't count? But Black Widow as a spy counts? I'd argue that her actions and reasons match Cap's during the war: nationalism and widely held idealogies.

While he may not be the best role model, I can't think of many more Avengers who a young person could learn from positively. He works hard, strives to do his best and can show young heroes that you don't need powers or superheroics to be a superhero.

While I'll admit that I AM really looking forward to read this series, I had some pretty big reservation after reading the first issue. Like most of you have mentioned, the argument between Captain America and Cyclops was juvenile and a weak way to start the event. While I enjoyed Bendis' scripting, as usual, the biggest problem I had with the issue was the art. By far.

I've read every issue of Kick-Ass, and enjoyed the art for the way it framed the narrative. However, John Romita Jr drawing this issue was just painful. I stopped to frown every second panel, and his cartoonish, uneven drawing felt completely out of place in an event of this calibre. While I will maintain my excitement for this event, it is somewhat marred by what this issue symbolises: imbalance. By giving several writers free rein over characters that they might not have ever written, Marvel is allowing these characters to be treated like plot devices, instead of the heroes we spend our money on each and every month. While the multitude of talent is great, it feels like all show and no substance-Ultimatum springs to mind. And I hate saying that word. The same problem can be said for the art. While I really do enjoy most of the artists attached this project, the inconsistency of seeing the same hero portrayed differently every fortnight will be grating. And with artists like John Romita Jr attached, the stylistic diversity will compromise the textual integrity of the whole series, as well as make it look like a piece of steaming shit.
