What I didn't like about the old Amalgam was that the characters were too similar. Fate and Strange, where is the difference. Now Superman and Dr Strange makes a true powerhouse and cancels one of Superman's weaknesses. Hulk and either a green or red lantern ring, depending on whether you think his rage is more intense than his will power, scary thought either way.
How is year one, not in actuality, year zero. Snyder needs to try something original. Bruce Wayne getting arrested and spending time in prison would make a good story or maybe a war of his major enemies, where only one survives. Something that doesn't get to the end of the story and make you go "Huh, so back to the status quo then...:
@shackle: I couldn't agree more. This character has run his course and become, dull, self important and over used. Kill Bruce and see a dozen titles suddenly get more interesting. And for those die-hard Batman fans. Re-release old titles with updated artwork; there are loads of great stories that many younger fans haven't read. These do no need to be re-hashed just given a make-over. Oh well, suppose I'll take a look in a years time and see if anything interesting is going to happen in the Batman, sorry I meant DC universe...
@Boogiepop: I so agree. Trust Bendis to take something that was alternative and cool and make it about the bold and the bucks. How can they do it without Warlock, it makes no sense having Thanos without him. Plus without him Thanos will be abusing their corpses in no time flat. I bet he ruins Drax too. Abnett should be writing this, end of sotry.
Really hoping that Manhunter is the one that comes in at the end of the game and settles things, Mass telepathic communication while holding off an angry Supes. Everyone is friends again, sort of...
