it might work.....

if you could choose 10 marvel heroes to form a kind of council that would preside over all the other heroes in the Marvel Universe who would you choose? I know it sounds like the Illuminati but its not meant to. There are rules for this; no celestial beings, no galactus, no mystical avatars. this includes no characters such as odin, zeus, mephisto, eternity, death etc and no OAA!!!

.mine would be:

1) Captain America

2) Cyclops

3) Dr Strange

4) Black Bolt

5) Iron Man

6) Thor

7) Mister Fantastic (even though i dislike him on principal)

8) Black Panther

9) Namor

10) Luke Cage

then id have like a secondary council which would consist of; Emma Frost, Hank Pym, Medusa, Balder, Invisible Woman, Ms Marvel, Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch (if shes not crazy), Professor Xavier and Storm.

so...thoughts?

If they're going to preside over all of Marvel's heroes, they'll need to be reflective of the entire world, not just a couple of well-traveled spots. To that end, I would select....

  1. Captain America
  2. Captain Britain
  3. Dr. Strange
  4. Black Panther
  5. The Sub-Mariner
  6. Professor X
  7. Vanguard
  8. Medusa
  9. Sunfire
  10. Ka-Zar

Captain America is not needed, in my opinion. Captain Britain and his crew are far more important.

1. Scott Summers-The current leader of the X-Men, and speaks on behalf of almost all mutants within the 616 universe. Scott has long been a major player in the big decisions of the Marvel universe, so inviting him into this little group would be advised. If Scott were to ever die/become irreparably incapacitated, Magneto or Hank McCoy would be fitting replacements.

2. Reed Richards-An obvious choice, really. He is undoubtedly one of the most intelligent people on the planet, and quite possibly within the entirety of the 616 universe. His expertise in almost all subjects would be needed whenever quick decisions involving advanced technology were needed. If he were to ever suffer a fate similar to that of Scott Summers, Valeria or Sue could replace him.

3. Norrin Radd-Currently, Norrin has been banished to Earth and significantly depowered by his former master, Galactus. He has a vast knowledge of the cosmos and it's inhabitants, and his experience in an innumerable number of dire situations could be useful.

4. Captain Britain-He is the leader of a group that protects the omniverse from a variety of threats, and will soon be becoming a member of the elite Secret Avengers team. Again, expertise possessed by him will be useful, as well as his several connections to high-end powerhouses.

5. Victor Von Doom-One of the few people who is capable of actually challenging Reed Richards in several ways, his recent turn in the Future Foundation series has left me believing that he has found a strong moral code and a willingness to cooperate with other leaders of the superpowered community.

6. Tony Stark-Another obvious choice. Tony is one of the most popular heroes on the planet and has incalculable resources at his disposal at any given time. He is a technological and strategic genius in every regard, and has served on a council similar to this before.

7. Quasar- An experienced and straightforward member of the Annihilators with a diverse powerset and a massive understanding of how the universe works. He is the least brash member of the team and has long standing relations with Richards.

8. Black Bolt- Yes, he has served on a council similar to this one before, but for good reason. Black Bolt is the rightful leader of the Inhumans, a race of beings that are believed to be major players in events not yet come to pass, and they have several good standing interstellar relationships.

9. Dr. Strange-Emissary to the mystical world now that both Thor and Voodoo are dead, Strange has vast knowledge of magic beyond that of even Victor Von Doom and has a plethora of mystical items that could be of use.

10. Loki-Despite the fact that he was only recently reborn into a new, younger, brash from, he is rapidly regaining past memories and has devised his own secret team of mystical warriors. He would be the perfect ambassador to beings like Odin, Hellstrom, Mephisto, etc.

@Acestar101: This was a really great idea. I'll bump it so others can participate.

@Illuminatus: agree with everyone except doom. captain america embodies the avengers and is the one hero who could unite all the heroes under one banner. civil war didnt count because he went against the government and because of this many of the pro-registration heroes didnt go against him per say, but what he was doing. and thank you

Why the disagreement with Doom?

Tony is a far better representative of the Avengers, in my opinion. Steve could be brought in on occasion I suppose, but he doesn't bring anything to the table that another member doesn't already.

@Illuminatus: but all doom brings is:

1) an armour-something iron man brings to the table

2) scientific genius-got reed richards, dont need him for that

3) magic-dr strange has more than enough magic

4) evil schemes-you've got loki for that

so in my personal opinion dr doom brings nothing to this council....

1. He owns a country, something Tony lacks. His resources are beyond vast and his armor that can be combined with magic is just as dangerous as Tony. Besides, this group really isn't meant to do much fighting unless in drastic situations. It's about geniuses in their respective fields coming together for a common purpose.

2. Reed doesn't know EVERYTHING. Doom has trumped him before and he can certainly outwit him from time to time. Having them both is really the best of both worlds.

3. Strange is currently not as powerful as Doom in the magic department, he only has the knowledge and the ability to perform basic spells now.

4. Neither of them are currently evil schemers. Doom is committed to Valeria and Franklin, and Loki has already decided to stray onto a different path from his former self.

@Illuminatus: If Nova was alive I would have him on the team rather than  Quasar

@spiderbat87: Same. Unfortunately, he's stuck in character limbo.

That's what happening right now. The new costume is awful.

I'm not even entirely sure. It's ridiculous

I ask again: what about supernaturally based creatures such as Dracula or Werewolf By Night- surely even bloodsuckers have a stake in Earth's continuing existence or freedom(which is dubious if Earth is conquered by the Skrull Empire or devoured by Galactus)?
