Have the swords popped out of her bracelets in any nonAzzarello comics yet?

I think it has shone up in recent Justice League issues.

@sinisteri:

Today’s comic books, especially in the New 52, are anthologies. How many storylines are started in one comic but later picked up in another? Also, almost every arc is collected into a trade, one of the definitions of Anthology is… a collection of things. It sounds to me like you want single issue contained stories where everything is resolved in 20 pages.

How are comics not an art form? It is a creative medium and over the last decade creators have really amped up their game. Grant Morrison, I would say more than anyone, has really done his research on various art movements, film genre, etc. and incorporated it into the comic medium. I am not the biggest fan of Azz, but he has, on a smaller scale, been doing the same thing. Also, many of the artists are turning out images that are on par with gallery pieces and their original work fetches a pretty penny as well.

And please tell me what pre-New 52 period is Diana referencing when she mentioned trying to be perfect?

Does the projective energy and magical swords from bracelets(makes less sense than invisible jet) mean this ever amazing writer cannot actually write Wonder Woman, but he can do wonders only with the "new" character he has created?

As stated above, Azz did not add the lightening to Diana, Gail did, & I am not aware of it showing up New 52. I think the addition of the swords is a pretty sweet concept and much better than them just magically appearing out of nowhere, which seemed to happen before Azz introduced this to the comic!

That never happened. She went to her armory and got a sword, shield, battleax, Gauntlet of Atlas...whatever it took to get the job done.

Then explain to me when she would have time during early issues of the New 52 run of Justice League to run to her armory in the middle of a fight? There were times where she had no sword strapped to her leg or in her hand but all of a sudden the sword was there... MAGICALLY!

Like an Onion, Diana has many layers we can peel away and still find more flesh underneath. How did she try to be perfect? It could be Azz's commentary to the comic book community who often complained that Diana was too perfect, pre-New 52, and unrelateable but now she is tarnished and her comic has become on of the highlights of the New 52 & a critical darling, yet many of the fans still complain. It could be a reference to her failed relationship with Steve. It could be a reference to her life on the island trying to be a perfect daughter, princess and Amazon. It could be as the above post mentions, Diana walking away from War's training. It could be a reference to her trying to be like Batman & Superman and not kill. Until Azz or another writer takes the thread and weaves a story with it, we are only left with our own interpretation of her statement and that could be what Azz is trying to do with the statement. Like when a singer writes a song, they song will mean something different to each person who listens to it. Maybe Diana's reference to being perfect, with no back story given, did not bother me because I am always using my creative brain and find most people responded better to art when the artist does not spoon feed them but instead allows them to be part of the art and create their own stories from it... Funny, I just taught an art lesson on this very subject, Active Viewing.

Did you see backtracking I missed? I love it when it is done correctly and not a rationalization to excuse a misstep.

Maybe you missed my key question-- to what was new 52 WW trying to be perfect?

And for the record, most of Batman's past stories are intact but extremely compressed- always been in Gotham, Joker, Jason Todd, incorporated... WW and Bats are not on equal footing when referencing their past. Not even close!

That is a story that may be covered next year or next month. It does not have to be covered yet. In Justice League there was mention, early on, about Diana befriending an old Indian woman and it turned out bad; however, over a year later Johns has yet to reveal what it was that happened between them. Another term we use in the comic book community is 'Sub-Plot' and a sub-plot can run for years... Just pick up X-men comics from the 1970s & 1980s!!!

It is called allusion & writers have used it for centuries. Haven’t you ever seen a movie that starts with the ending and then backtracks the events leading up to it?

So apparently Diana has lightening powers. A friend said it was for the new 52 but I've also heard it's in Gail Simones run, is it true?

Has she used it during the new run?
