The second incarnation of the TT being a Robin who's no longer a Robin, that other Kid Flash, Donna's replacement, Superboy, and some other members who are ironically, of different racial descent.

Original 5, hands down. I hoped that the New 52 would have kept mostly to that roster, except switch Garth out for the new Aqualad (because he is much cooler) and added Superboy later down the road. And of course Dick would have to have been replaced with Tim, because Dick is too old for the Titans in current continuity.

Instead, we got Tim, Cassie (I like her, but she is far inferior to Donna), Bart (again, can't hold a candle to Wally), Superboy, and three other characters who I don't really care about.

How About These Six:

Missed opportunity, DC. This would have been a great New52 founding roster.

Maybe add in:

Yup.

New 52 because the team is more diverse as it includes members who are from different races. Diversity is an important to include in the New 52 teams, it makes the books more modern and realistic.

They also have members who haven't just started out working in a team enviroment, I know that the New 52 has wiped out there time in Young Justice but Cassie, Tim, Bart and Kon were all on Young Justice before joining the Teen Titans meaning they had more experience working as a team.

The characters in the New 52 also reflect the teens of today, where as, the original team is now slightly outdated and doesn't really show what teenagers act like today. Yes, I know that teenagers today don't really dress up in fancy costumes and go around saving the world but the way they interact and the way some of them speak is more updated.

Don't get me wrong, Ioved the original line-up and enjoy reading stories focused around that team but I think the new team is superior to the first one.

The original 5 definitely! They should have started with them in the beginning of the new 52! Or at least add a new Titans or something in that nature in the 3rd wave of comics!

I'd prefer a mix of the two really: Tim Drake, Wally West, Superboy, Solstice, Cassie (I don't really know much about Donna) and I'd add Starfire, Beastboy and Raven. I know that diversity is important but I don't want my favourite characters to be dropped just to make space :( Throw in Miss Martian and Blue Beetle also.

I'm growing to like this characters, but surely everyone is going to always like the originals more lol.

I'm kind of shocked they didn't put Miss Martian on the roster with her being one of the main characters in the Young Justice show, and might I add with her being on the Teen Titans for a while before the relaunch.

Problem is a lot of the Titans that people got use to have been completely separated

Cyborg- JLA

Starfire- Red Hood and the outlaws (which I like her in)

Roy Harper- Red Hood and the outlaws

Beastboy- The Ravagers

Know idea where Raven's going though

Well they made mentions of Garth so i'm pretty sure he still used to be the former side kick of Aquaman, but I am really bummed how they ripped Wally out of the universe :[ Donna Troy was cool, but I've liked Cassie for a long time now. What really bothers me the most is Wally was the same age as Dick and Roy so he had a lot of history with the sidekicks, but now even if they reintroduce him he's just some new guy. :\

Why they put Cyborg in the JLA over other characters like Martian manhunter, Hawkman/Hawkgirl and Captain Atom really cofuses me.

I haven't been reading Red hood and the outlaws but from the previews I've seen I can't say I like the change in her character (I saw the preview where she sleeps with Roy just because) and apparantly she now can't even tell the difference between humans. Has she improved at all? What is she like at the moment?

Raven is my favourite Titan and I can't wait to see her in the new 52

Raven is coming to the TT apparently.

As far as the list, I love New 52. Yes I don't like Skitter but then again I didn't like Aqualad either. I think its a good match up and like others have said I love the cultural diversity. I actually find that I like Bunker (and blue beetle) a lot because of the cultural difference. Its just a nice change. I also like this Superboy's back story. I really want to see a marvel family kid in the mix but i doubt it.

I'm assuming this is the original Teen Titans when they first formed. With that in mind, Tim could easily beat Dick to earn the title of head Robin for he has much more experience and muscle mass. Wally has greater experience than Bart so he takes the title of best Kid Flash. We don't know enough about Cassie to give a good guess on a Wonder Girl winner. Aqualad is a potential powerhouse, but as he was portrayed in Teen Titans: Year One, he was a bit of a boob. Superboy is even more of a powerhouse, and he knows how to use it. Superboy stomps. Speedy very well might be able to take out Skitter. I say Speedy wins after a brief battle.

So right now, we have Wally, Speedy, and Donna vs. Tim, Cassie, Superboy, Bunker, and Solstice.

Superboy could probably take Wally though that is a close match. Superboy has raw power, but Wally has him on speed and experience. Let's say another draw at the moment. I still have no real idea what Solstice's powers are, so I'm going to say Speedy can take her. Donna was mixing it up with Cassie, but let's add Bunker to the mix, and I think Donna falls pretty hard.

After round two, we have Wally and Speedy vs Tim, Cassie, Superboy, and Bunker. Obviously, Superboy and Cassie can take Wally, and Tim and Bunker can take Speedy.

Unless Dick could come up with one hell of a plan and exploit the New 52's disorder problems, I say Tim's team takes it soundly. I didn't even double team some of the originals when I could have.

Now, if you took Dick's Titans with a couple years experience versus Tim's current roster, that would be a better fight.

I don't like the new incarnation, but I don't care that they changed up the team. I just think the writing sucks. We know almost nothing about our central characters. The action has bounced from one fight to another without taking a break to develop character. The very idea that these characters are even sticking together ever though they know almost nothing about each other is rather stupid. The dialogue has both good moments and...moments which are not so good. The are is okay.

Well, I don't think it sucks but I agree with you.

Sometimes I think things happen way too fast like "We're gonna be best friends forever" and then they're willing to sacrifice their lives for a team member... but we, readers, don't get to see how such strong ties were built.

But it has potential.

I'm a huge Tim Drake fan (as my avatar probably suggests), and I've been sticking with the series just for him, but between the mediocre (at best) writing and the way they are unnecessarily changing Tim's back story, I think I'm going to drop it. I'll jump back on board if they get a good writer.

: Well, I like Cassie and Bart as well, so I have more reasons not to drop it. But I can see your point, there was no need to change Tim's past so much and sometimes the story gets too confusing or random.

Then again, it's a reboot, new things will be added, old things will be erased and so on.

But yeah, there could've been a better writing.

I generally like Cassie and Bart too, but I don't even feel like Tim or Cassie are the same characters as they used to be.

I'm anti-reboot. I can see maybe a soft reboot, but they've torn the old universe to shreds, and there was no reason for it. I wish they would have just made a nice jumping on point without tearing apart the Justice League's past for instance.

Well, I think this is the one thing that keeps comic books going through so many years. If they don't make a complete reboot once in a while, people will get tired of reading the same old story with only a few changes in it over and over again.

Truth is, comics are meant to be sold and the New 52 are having good sales despite of/because of the changes. That includes the changes made in the character's personalities and so on. They need to please a new public.

Yeah, I get that it is a business, and as much as I hate it, I'm sure I would stick with the New 52 if I were in charge of DC right now simply because of the sales. One of the things I love about comics is the rich back story, but that is all gone now.

Again, I wish they would have simply designed a good jumping on point for new readers. The renumbering gimmick might have been enough to entice a lot of new readers. All the Batman and Green Lantern titles went without significant changes to the core story, yet they are still wreaking havoc in some of the back stories of characters like Tim. This adds nothing. They could have just as easily retold the same stories. Old fans would be pleased to see the stories from a new perspective, and new fans would be brought up to date. Many of the new titles they launched didn't need a reboot at all. New Guardians, Hawk and Dove, Swamp Thing, Demon Knights. Those that did get the reboot treatment are either worse for the experience: Static Shock, Teen Titans or are simply rehashing old plot lines: Justice League, Green Arrow, Teen Titans.

As an old reader, it is really lame.

Love the New 52.... just get rid of Skitter. =D

Also, I want a great book many different people can enjoy/relate to. Not """diversity""". I mean, bunker is cool, but he is at his lowest points when he yells things like "CARAMBA!" and gets all heart-eyed around dudes. Real diversity is good ... """diversity""" is usually just an ass-backwards tool of progression that actually reinforces tokenisms and stereotypes =\

Greater muscle mass does not necessarily equal greater power. Dick's sublime athleticism and natural ability poses a greater threat than you implied in your post (think: Bruce Lee's "Yes, he's strong, but is he powerful?" quote and various feats defeating much larger opponents). But I will concede that the older, more experienced Tim may possess a certain advantage.

Clearly, DIck is more of a natural athlete, but he was not trained to fight until he joined Batman, but like we have both said, the four years worth of training versus Dick's one year makes all the difference. Also, Tim has the tech and muscle advantage.

I disagree. I find Bunker to be pretty much the only easily likable character in the new Teen Titans. I don't see how "Caramba" is any different than a character yelling "Crap or wow!" I also haven't noticed Bunker going starry eyed towards any guys except possibly Tim. I'm wondering if they are going to make Tim bi.

@PsychoKnights:

I like Bunker a lot. It's just not very realistic when he says and does things like that. It's very flat, stereotypical writing.

In other words, I am friends with a guy who spent the first 27 years of his life in Japan. He doesn't randomly say things in Japanese when he gets flustered or anything. It's a silly caricaturization to make Bunker always say things like that and "amigo" instead of friend. It's like, we get it, he's not white, move on ...

I am also friends with several gay men. They don't say things like "shut up and hold me!" as Bunker says to Superboy in issue #10.

But hey, these are really small gripes, trust me. These things aside, Bunker is great. I like his powers a lot and I like his virtuous nature.

Lastly, Tim bi ... ? erm... no =P

? erm... no =P

I work with Hispanic people who will say, "Good morning" in Spanish. It is not about them not knowing how to say it in English, but rather that they like saying things in their original language sometimes. Was issue ten the one where they were in prehistoric times for no apparent reason whatsoever? I don't recall the scene where Bunker told Superboy to hold him, but I might have blocked it out. I remember growling "No!" our of frustration about three times while reading that issue.

I've been thinking of making a post on Tim being Bi- in the DCNU for awhile now. My thinking on it is this. First, Tim has been rumored to be gay by cynical fans for years because of his friendship with Superboy despite the fact that he has a long series of romantic relationships with girls. Fans of the "Tim is gay" idea mention as proof the fact that he has never had sex with any girlfriends. In addition, DC is obviously trying to make more characters gay to jump on the whole "Let's celebrate homosexuality" bandwagon. By itself, this proves nothing, but there is one other element which makes me think Lodbell might be heading this direction. You might remember that Bunker was a big deal because he was a gay kid in the Teen Titans. Comicvine did an interview with Lodbell, and one of the questions they asked was whether Bunker would have any love interests. Lodbell said he knew of at least one romantic relationship which would develop for Bunker. Well, we are nearly a year into this series, and I have seen nothing. Bart has clearly shown interest in Solstice. Superboy has barely interacted with Bunker and has shown interest in Wonder Girl. The only other character who could be a love interest is Tim. Tim has had more interaction with Bunker than any other character. Bunker appears to be attracted to him. (he was swimming exclusively around him while Tim was in his underwear. For that matter, Tim was swimming around Bunker too). Bunker was obviously a big fan of Tim before they even met. Bunker is the only one who has ever challenge Tim on anything which would count as romantic tension if it were between two opposite sex characters. Tim is clearly attracted to Cassie, but he has been very clearly shot down by her.

I'm certainly not saying this is going to happen. I very strongly do not want it to happen for I don't see homosexuality as a good thing, and more importantly, I love Tim because he is a character with which I can strongly identify. Making him gay would greatly weaken my identification with him. Furthermore, I see it as a bit disrespectful to the character to reboot his sexuality, but DC obviously has no problem with that.

Hopefully, I am wrong about this...but I wonder.

Hmmm...I really really don't like the New 52 Titans, but I've only read the Teen Titans Year One with the original five. I think I'll agree with Outside_85 and say that I more or less consider NTT the "originals" in my mind. Without that version the Titans would have been likely to stay in limbo, it also introduced Raven, Starfire, Cyborg, & Deathstroke etc.

the new 52 teen titans book has been kinda dull. I Miss the old team. the new team is too many characters. They gotta ditch Buker, Solice, and Skitter. Bring back Raven and Beast Boy and Put them back with the teen titans and switch cyborg from JL to Teen Titans. Keep Wonder girl and Superboy.

The issue is not bad characters but bad writing. Lodbell has thrown these character together with only a very thin explanation as to why they should choose to associate with each other. We know nothing about them outside of the fact that they have powers and have decided to form a team. The action has been nonstop and nonsensical. They ended up in perhistoric times because something blew up and time/space thingy. Do call that crappy writing is an insult to crap. How do they get back from prehistoria? With Danny the street/person who can do that for some reason then dies and turns into an ally? If the dialogue were not so good and the art was worse, it would practically be a parody of the team superhero book. Crap!

I want to own every comic with Tim Drake in it, but I'm canceling my subscription to Teen Titans. I'll pick it up on resale.

How About These Six:

Missed opportunity, DC. This would have been a great New52 founding roster.

Maybe add in:

Yup.

I really agree actually, even if Wally was replaced with Bart I'd be cool with it. I may have actually bought the book with that roster. Can you tell me the names of the two you added in please?

I'd prefer a mix of the two really: Tim Drake, Wally West, Superboy, Solstice, Cassie (I don't really know much about Donna) and I'd add Starfire, Beastboy and Raven. I know that diversity is important but I don't want my favourite characters to be dropped just to make space :( Throw in Miss Martian and Blue Beetle also.

Problem is a lot of the Titans that people got use to have been completely separated

Cyborg- JLA

Starfire- Red Hood and the outlaws (which I like her in)

Roy Harper- Red Hood and the outlaws

Beastboy- The Ravagers

Know idea where Raven's going though

1. Why they put Cyborg in the JLA over other characters like Martian manhunter, Hawkman/Hawkgirl and Captain Atom really cofuses me.

2. I haven't been reading Red hood and the outlaws but from the previews I've seen I can't say I like the change in her character (I saw the preview where she sleeps with Roy just because) and apparantly she now can't even tell the difference between humans. Has she improved at all? What is she like at the moment?

3. Raven is my favourite Titan and I can't wait to see her in the new 52

1. Diversity, for one. I still think they should have used Black Lightning but the fact that they gave Static his own book at the time might be the key reason why they opted for someone like Cyborg. In the long run though I think it ended up good. The way they're writing Cyborg and his dilemma of his own humanity I find it well done. I'm gonna miss his history with the Titans but as long as they right Cyborg the way he's written now, I don't mind.

2. She has short term memory when it comes to aesthetics yes and she's more willing to share the love but what she lacks in remembering faces she makes up for in the fact that she still remembers "moments". I can't quite explain it well but I think the recent arc where she is leading her own starship in combat gives her a more assertive and dominant personality. Another issue you should pick up in case you end up picking up Red Hood and the Outlaws is issue 6 it has a nice moment where Starfire remembers her time with Dick saying she'll know him if they meet.

3. The recent Teen Titans comic is already teasing the appearance of Trigon so Raven shouldn't be far off.

I like both of them. But for the new 52 roster I would replace Skitter with Static.

I prefer the original universe.

Oh wait... you're just talking about the Teen Titans.

Well, to give props where they're due, at least the new52 kept the 'Teen' part of the name. Given their desperate attempts to be gritty and "realistic", I woulda expected them to just call them "The Titans".

And in case you don't remember, DC; when Marvel put out THEIR rebooted universe, they kept the old one around so people could have both.

Just something to consider.
