    Eobard Thawne

Character » Eobard Thawne appears in 396 issues.

Eobard Thawne was a brilliant scientist born in the 25th century, where Barry Allen's heroism as the Flash is the stuff of legend. Seeking to emulate his idol, Thawne traveled back in time to meet the Flash, but learned instead that his destiny was to become the Reverse-Flash, Allen's greatest nemesis. Rendered unstable by this knowledge, Thawne set out to erase Barry Allen from history and establish himself as the one true Flash.

Does Anyone Else Think Eobard's Death Was Dumb?

The fact that he died isn't what's getting at me, quite the contrary I think that's a perfect way to end the Flashpoint arc. However... I think his death is a little idiotic. He soundly trounced Thomas Wayne with no effort, and then battles Barry across the war torn landscape... only to be killed while he was talking by Thomas Wayne with an Amazonian sword... that part right there gets me. I wish they'd gone with the Flash taking him out, something involving the Speed Force, any number of things between the two arch-enemies... but not getting taken out by a freakin' sword through the chest. Just curious as to how other people felt about this death, and what their ideas are concerning the matter? Love it, hate it, meh about it?

Felt exactly the same way, I thought it was totally dumb. Made no sense to me, honestly. Zoom is just too fast to be killed that way.

All speedsters get beat by non-speed attacks. Its the nature of the character type. The same with tons of other light-speed characters being hit. Speed does not equal godly in comic books.
