Whoa!  Who would've known that Xavier would survive Bishop's bullet to the head?  Actually what's more surprising is that he got "better" so quickly.  I thought they'd drag it out a little longer.  Guess we'll see what the effects of this are.  And I'm still not diggin' the new title.

Professor Xavier has seemingly returned from the shocking events of Messiah CompleX, but now that he’s locked in mortal combat with Exodus, will his reprieve be short-lived? X-Men: Legacy #210, from superstar X-scribe Mike Carey and acclaimed artists Scott Eaton & Greg Land, presents the powerful psychic clash between Xavier and Exodus! But what is Magneto’s role in all of this? An X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-in, X-Men: Legacy #210 marks a crucial turn in Xavier’s journey and explores his effect on other fan favorite mutants—all affecting the future of mutantkind!

Comixtreme.com’s Ryan Broussard gushed, “Carey continues to impress me. I liked this issue a lot and I think any long time X-Men fan will feel the same way”

“Trust me, this is one X-book you'll want to keep on your pull list,” said Jesse Schedeen of IGN.Com.

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on X-Men: Legacy and other Divided We Stand tie-ins, as they continue to sell out quickly! Can Xavier defeat Exodus? And even if he does, what condition will he be in? Find out in X-Men: Legacy #210!

This post relates to: Magneto, Billy Tan, Professor X, Mike Carey, X-Men

WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Oh wait, wrong story.  But maybe he is.  Doubt it.  Magneto's a funny guy.  Is he better as a villain or an ally?  Is he misunderstood?  It's kind of hard to misunderstand when he's killing helpless people.  Remember that submarine from way back.  I have gotten a little tired of him coming back and forth not knowing himself what angle he's going to take.  Then there's the whole Xorn thing that was a bit confusing.  Let's see, here's this dude that calls himself Xorn.  He's a great guy and a really helpful teacher at Xavier's.  Then he says, "Hey look at me, I'm really Magneto."  Does a lot of bad stuff in Manhattan and even kills Jean Grey.  They they tell us that it really wasn't Magneto but actually was a dude named Xorn.  Yeah, but huh?   It's my understanding that Grant Morrison intended Xorn to be Magneto all along but Marvel allowed it to be retconned when he was done.  Maybe I just wasn't reading closely enough or just don't remember but was Charles around during "Xorn's" time at the mansion?  How would Magneto fake having a star for a brain and how would a telepath not detect it?  What's the point of being telepathic if you can be so easily fooled?  Clearly Jean was.

Whatever.  Here's the real reason for this story.   Magneto's back.  Looks like Karima (Omega Sentinel) has possibly been cleared of Malice's influence?  I'm curious how and why Scott would allow the Professor to be so easily accessible to someone like Magneto.

What could the Acolytes possibly want with the mind and body of Charles Xavier? Add Magneto's interest into the mix and that's a recipe for disaster! Xavier's life hangs in the balance as the quest to save the most important mind in mutant history begins. In X-Men: Legacy #209, from fan favorite writer Mike Carey and with rising star artists Scot Eaton and Billy Tan, and a cover by superstar artist David Finch, the quest for mutant survival barrels on!

Jesse Schedeen of IGN.com says, "Trust me, this is one X-book you'll want to keep on your pull list."

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on X-Men: Legacy and all X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-ins, as the future of mutants in the Marvel universe is revealed and as critics continue to hail the current direction of the X-titles!

What sort of repercussions will there be as the journey into Professor Xavier's mind continues? Will the reveal of long lost memories and important x-facts be detrimental to the cause? Find out the answer to these questions and more in X-Men Legacy #209!

This post relates to: X-Men, Professor X, Mike Carey

I'd have to say Messiah CompleX ended with a bit of a let-down.  I enjoyed the series.  Some heavy stuff went down.  But the ending...?  I don't know.  So Professor X is out of commission, again.  It's not like it hasn't happened before.  What has he really been doing lately anyways?  First he loses his powers.  Then he gets kicked off of the X-Men by Cyclops.  Now he has his new problem.  I really don't see why Cyclops would say the X-Men are done when he's the one that gave him the boot after the whole Vulcan-kept-a-secret thing.  Oh well.  Wonder how long this will last.  And look, Magneto's back.  How did he and Exodus get access to Chuck?

A single shot to head of Charles Xavier brought an end to the X-Men and killed his dream. But in the wake of Messiah CompleX’s shocking conclusion, what is the fate of Professor X? In X-Men: Legacy #208, from red-hot writer Mike Carey and rising star artist Scot Eaton (X-Factor, X-Men: Endangered Species), along with the guest art team of John Romita Jr and Klaus Janson illustrating crucial moments from X-Men history and a cover by superstar artist David Finch, a bold new era for mutantkind begins!

As Xavier’s life hangs in the balance, assistance comes from the last place he’d expect! While Xavier’s saviors seek to restore him, providing fans with a powerful look inside the mind of the X-Men’s founder, a question must be asked: will Xavier’s restoration save mutantkind…or doom mankind?

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on X-Men: Legacy and all X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-ins, as the future of mutants in the Marvel universe is revealed and as critics continue to hail the current direction of the X-titles! Just what will happen to Xavier? And how will Magneto, Gambit and Rogue figure into the equation? The answers arrive in X-Men: Legacy #208!

This post relates to: Hulk, Professor X, X-Men, Ghost Rider, Christos N. Gage, Andrea Divito, Daniel Way, Mark Texeira

Ah, another day, another World War Hulk preview.  People are eating this up.  The thought just came to me, this is going to be ending eventually.  Now I'm a tiny bit worried about how they're going to resolve all of this.  I'm on Hulk's side.

Marvel is pleased to announce that both World War Hulk: X-Men #2 and Ghost Rider #13 have sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). Tying into this summer’s “incredible” comic book epic, World War Hulk, both issues show sides of this battle that will greatly affect the Hulk!

Now that the X-Men and Hulk have squared off, it’s time for round two in World War Hulk: X-Men #3 (of 3), as the X-Men’s reinforcements arrive! The X-Men, New X-Men, X-Factor and New Excalibur join forces to battle the Jade Giant! And just what is the fate of Professor X? The answers come smashing through in the final issue of this red-hot limited series!

Then in Ghost Rider #14, the Spirit of Vengeance is reeling from his battle with the Hulk…and has to deal with the devil himself? As the all new “Revelations” storyline begins, Ghost Rider begins his quest to destroy Lucifer once and for all!

As World War Hulk continues to smash it’s way through the Marvel Universe, heroes will be irrevocably changed—and that’s if they even survive! Do the X-Men stand a chance? And how was Johnny Blaze changed by his epic confrontation? The answers arrive this August in World War Hulk: #14!

Please note that there are currently no plans to go back to press on World War Hulk: X-Men #2 and Ghost Rider #13.

This post relates to: Wolverine, Namor, Matt Cherniss, Peter Johnson, Phil Briones, Leinil Francis Yu, Professor X, Venom

They've recently had a run-in in Wolverine over Nitro.  That's when we first saw Namor's Sleeper Cell soldiers.  I like where this mini's going.  Place your bets on who's going to win.

900 Americans are dead and S.H.I.E.L.D. is pointing the finger at Namor! In Sub-Mariner #3, Namor races against time to find the location of the rogue sleeper cell agents before they commit more heinous crimes in the name of Atlantis. But is he ready to battle Wolverine? Writers Matt Cherniss and Peter Johnson (Powerless) and up-and-coming artist Phil Briones (White Tiger) are making waves with the new limited series about Marvel’s first mutant and his constant struggle against the “weaklings” of the surface world. Also, this action-packed issue features magnificent cover art by Young Guns Reloaded star Leinil Francis Yu (New Avengers).

After plowing through Iron Man and his armada of S.H.I.E.L.D. submarines, Namor searches for his old ally, Charles Xavier, only to find the Canadian berserker ready and waiting for a scrap at the gates of the X-Mansion! Meanwhile, sinister figures are lurking in the shadows; the rogue Atlanteans make plans to murder their “traitor king,” but the vicious Venom might beat them to the punch if he develops a taste for seafood!

The conflict heats up in Sub-Mariner #3; will all of this tension lead to an inevitable war between Atlantis and America…and more importantly, will that war result in Namor’s death? One thing is certain, the monarch of the seas won’t go down without a fight – Imperius Rex!

This post relates to: Andrea Divito, Christos N. Gage, Professor X, X-Men, Hulk

Seems like rarely a day goes by that we don't have some Hulk news.   He's really getting around.  Next stop, the Xavier Institute.

The Hulk has returned to Earth and he’s making sure the school of hard knocks is in session for the X-Men! In World War Hulk: X-Men #1 (of 3), the Hulk continues his assault against the clandestine cabal known as The Illuminati, the same group who exiled him into space. One member of that group—Professor Charles Xavier—was not part of that decision and now the Hulk wants to know what Xavier would have done…and he’ll destroy the New X-Men to get the answer! But can the X-Men-in-training survive till their mentors arrive to confront the Jade Giant?

Marvel’s summer blockbuster World War Hulk has drawn rave reviews from fans and critics, with sell-outs of the initial tie-in issues & subsequent printings (though copies may be available at the retail level). Now it’s time to witness an epic battle between the Hulk and not one, but TWO, teams of powerful mutants. Who will survive? What will Professor Xavier’s answer be? And when the dust clears, whose side will the X-Men take? Fans can be sure of this—Hulk will smash puny mutants and you won’t want to miss this epic confrontation!

This post relates to: Magneto, Professor X

Sounds like the powers that be are getting excited over the planned Magneto movie.  I wonder when we'll hear more about the script since it's already written.

After marshalling just about every successful Marvel comic to the big screen, what’s left for mega producer Avi Arad to get excited about? “Magneto,” he enthused. “I love it!” While we first met the diabolical anti-hero (played with gusto by Ian McKellen) in “X-Men,” and followed his mutant crusade through two sequels, it’s in “Magneto” that the character will finally get the origin story he so richly deserves, Arad revealed.

“Think of meeting him in [the first “X-Men” movie] as a young boy in a concentration camp. What happens to his life after the war?” he teased of the film’s plot. Arad quickly answered his own question, telling MTV News that the flick will follow Magneto discovering “if [his powers are] real or not and the whole journey of [his] survival as a young man.”

Directed and co-written by “Batman Begins” scribe David Goyer, the prequel has all sorts “of opportunities for the kind of things that [will] make [it] interesting,” Arad contended, including a look at his early friendship with and ultimate rift from Charles Xavier, the mutant who would later become the leader of the X-Men.

You can read the rest here: www.mtvmoviesblog.com/2007/05/15/x-men-spin-off-magneto-to-reveal-anti-hero-origin-story/
