THE BAD, THE WORSE, AND THE UGLY

In his quest to track down an AWOL God and force Him to answer for his failings, the Reverend Jesse Custer has met a host of strange characters --- and it's no surprise to learn that they each have a story to tell.

ANCIENT HISTORY collects those stories from some of PREACHER's most colorful personalities, as originally presented in the three PREACHER SPECIALS: "Saint of Killers" lays out the complete origin of Custer's supernatural nemesis, stretching from the frozen plains of the American West to the hottest corners of Hell; "The Good Old Boys" looks back on a happier time of Jody and T.C., those rascally rednecks from bayou country, as they gleefully despoil every action-movie cliché in the book while offhandedly foiling an international terrorist's plans; and "The Story of You-Know-Who" ventures into the backwoods of suburban angst to relate the tragic, farcical saga that gave the world Arseface.

ANCIENT HISTORY is the fourth volume in the PREACHER saga, one of the most celebrated comics titles of the late 1990s. Created by the writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, this modern American epic of life, death, love and redemption is also packed with sex, booze, blood and bullets --- not to mention angels, demons, God, vampires and deviants of all stripes --- making for one of the most viscerally appealing tales to ever see four-color print.
