POWER GIRL'S "DISTRACTIONS": LIKE OR DISLIKE?
to kinda quote Chris Rock " PowerGirl is a big Breasted woman, and everybody love a big Breasted Woman."
She's got nothing else! Really...she should've just stayed in her own reality.
To take her seriously...sure why not, but if your gonna walk around open topped all the time WHO ISN'T LOOKING!
She's in comics for the more sexy and playful part of being a female with superman's powers.
Ms. Marvel (marvel) I take more seriously than her. I guess if the new Supergirl's skirt has to be panty flash high, cause she's in high school, then Powergirl's chest must almost bust out. Cause she's simply the eye candy of the group.
I love a good distraction, and last time I checked comics are a perfect distraction from the everyday rigors of life. Karen Starr, distract away!
OMGosh, this is the funniest thing I've seen today! My take on the 'dilemmas' is that yes, they are a distraction. Supergirl is one of the few who doesn't have them hanging out there all the time. I never got into Power Girl mainly because I didn't want to read a comic that I would be embarrassed to read in public. I don't mind her having 'them,' but Power Girl, if you are going to let them hang out there, don't be surprised when the average male pig isn't going to be looking you in the eye.
And people do not find these distracting? I show them because for Donna Troy, in Justice League of America #49 she warns Bogeyman to stop ogling her bosom. And Diana, well, in a storyline entitled "Birds of Paradise" from September - October 2009, Dinah claimed to WW that she had the most impressively ogled chest of the female superhero community with the exception of Karen Starr. And don't even get me started on plenty of non-DC buxom beauties that could turn heads. ::Coughs:: Lady Death for example! ::Coughs::
uhh what about Black Cat? Her "window" plunges deeper than the grand canyon. Emma Frost. uhh the multitudes of others. You know what I really love about Power Girl? She doesn't go evil at a drop of a hat.
I like the way it's been handled recently. Face it, some girls are just built amazingly well and they shouldn't be afraid to show it (within the boundries of the law, lol).
to quote the ghost of johnny cochrane
"from pismo beach to new york city, aint no man dont like big titty"

@DMC: You're probably right, but I think Power Girl has a better chance of being a superhero recognized for her strength and power as a WOMAN if she doesn't look like this.
You mean if she doesn't DRESS like that. She looks all woman to me.

We need some humor in the comic book industry and it helps differentiate her from Super Girl and other heroes. I mean, we do not get much of these type of women poking fun at themselves. She provides good humor among all the seriousness among comics. I mean, if all characters were as serious as Bendis Clint or Bats, comics would be all serious and dark. We need a couple characters to provide humor in comics. The fact is the way she is written, she acknowledges this fact but takes a humorous slant with it. Kinda like She Hulk did with all the people she slept with. The humor breaks up the tension found in all the other comics.
Right on. People say PG is a boob joke but PG can take herself seriously and still see the lighter side. They are just boobs, not a disease. People who complain about big boobs need to grow up. A character who can be what she is and take the humor is cool.

Sorry to dissapoint you but those boobs are never going to be covered. It shouldn't be after what Amanda Conner has done with the costume, the window works with the costume now. On the subject of taking her seriously as a major superheroine? "Why So Serious?" The fact that she's not a serious character is a good thing IMHO. In the DCU, I believe she's taken seriously enough by her fellow heroes those that don't will learn the hard way. ^_^ In regards to being taken seriously amongst the comic community? Well I think they need to lighten up. I like that you can tell light/humorous stories with her cause among the other Krypton characters, who have their own books, it makes her even more unique, her book gives you something you don't find too much of now-a-days. I don't mind the boob jokes at all since PG is in on the joke.
Sorry to disappoint, heh?

That's right - people need to get over the boobs. Covered or uncovered, they should be big!
She is DC's own hooter girl
Please stop with the annoying 'back-pain' retort, she is super durable and should have adequate back/spine super-strength to support those puppies
@PowerGirlFan: Not only that she can fly without wings or external propulsion, so they must have an internal weight balancing system or some features to circumvent gravity
As a leg fan never really bothered me now put her in a pair of thigh high boots now there's something to see.

@erik said:" I think her costume is fine. There are far more characters out there with far more revealing costumes to get one's prudish panties in a twist about. Her costume is not disgusting at all. I am more disgusted with people being disgusted with her costume. "100% agree with you, there's lots more characters with even more revealing costumes
This!!!!
Haha, LIKE!!!!
I'm pretty sure those who say "dislike" are girls. In fact, I'm just about positive, haha
I think its a right choice to cover up the distractions. Nobody would take her seriously with those.
Her "distractions" are her trademark. lol Taking that away is like taking the S from Superman, or the Bat cowl from Batman. You get what I mean.
^ Right. P.G's physique has been a defining feature from the beginning, though not all artists have complied with it.
She had one of the most unique costumes in Superherodom and they got rid of it just because comic book artists have boob lust. They really just needed to tone it down.
^ More like the editors have "slut shame". The editors dictate to the artists, they aren't free to vent their sexual fantasies in the comics they work on.
