Not that I'm complaining.its just that a lot of people complain about. Catwoman and she's fully covered! in a sexauly explicite way if anybodys wondering. so why? on a side note do you think Batman has the only rouges gallery with the most popular female villains? I mean those three even got there own book! I'm still including tailia if anybody's wondering...
Poison Ivy
Character » Poison Ivy appears in 1965 issues.
A brilliant botanical biochemist, Pamela Isley is a fervent eco-terrorist out to save the world's plant life by any means necessary. She often finds herself at odds with Batman, though they have, on occasion, fought on the same side.
why does nobody ever complain about poison ivy?
Because she's basically half plant, it helps for her skin to be exposed so she can take in as much sunlight as possible. If you put her in the dark without water, she shrivels up like a plant would.
Its almost as if there is more to depictions of sexuality and its critiques than sheer skin exposure heh heh. I personally find that some writers are good at having Ivy own her sensuality, rather than having the character exist to pander to a certain demographic. I think some writers and artists are good at presenting many characters well, Catwoman as well. So its not just about skin exposure, but that can be a factor combined with other factors. The combined part is super important because some fans don't realize that criticism isn't just about one thing. Catwoman's first cover of the new 52 was widely critiqued for example because she was pouring lil diamonds over her exposed breasts at a funny angle. So its not just that her cleavage was showing, it was the whole context. I think people probably critique Ivy as well mind you, maybe not as much.
Eh, it really fits her character well and it's pretty justified in the comics themselves.
She's looking to seduce and all that.
Catwoman has shades of it as well, but it feels less justified at times, mostly because she doesn't really have such a direct control over men like Ivy does.
She is THE nearly naked woman. Wean people think of inappropriate dressed women, they think Ivy. In other words: complaining about her would be to obvious. And it is kind of her trademark, so complaining about that is like complaining about Superman being to powerful, or Doctor Manhattan to blue.
@themanintheshoe: wered that come from pleased dont tell thats a new 52 redsign and if so why black?
@lifeofvibe: It is.
@lifeofvibe: Well she seems to vary some in the New 52, here is how she looked in Swamp Thing.
Because a female character (or any female really) dressing or acting in an overtly sexual/sensual manner is not automatically a negative thing. It's all about context.

This sums it up very nicely :)
@bruxae: Bet it depends on the writer or artist (eller ska jag ta det på svenska? ;) )
@bruxae: vary heh just like powergirl

While Poison Ivy is well-known to comic book readers and viewers of the various animated series, most others have simply never heard of her.
@digbykong: makes me want to eat melons
