Awesome Toy Picks: Poison Ivy Signature Collection

Each week we seek out a comic book collectible and do the unthinkable, we open it up. These collectibles sometimes look really cool or just okay. Taking a closer look can reveal quite a bit.

You might be aware that MattyCollector has many exclusive DC action figures. Their Signature Collection figures tend to sell out immediately. If you're a subscriber to their Club Infinite Earths, you get the figures mailed to you automatically. This week we're going to take a look at Poison Ivy, which is fitting since she was featured in this week's DETECTIVE COMICS.

These figures come in a simple white box with plain lettering. Inside is the figure in its packaging. Like the others, it has a big viewing window and art on the side. That same image is on the back with a mini bio on the character.

The figure almost looks like it can glow in the dark. There's some nice detail on her. The ivy on her arms moves a bit to give it a less stiff feel.

While the sculpt is nice, the fact that both her hands are clenched in fists is unfortunate. It's not like you'd need her to hold any accessories but it really limits the idea of the different poses you could put her in. Poison Ivy is usually pretty angry at the world but does her action figure have to be as well?

There is a good amount of articulation. You can see that the figure can stand easily, even in an outdoor/uneven setting. It's the right amount of articulation as some figures get bogged down when they have too much articulation.

If you wanted to get this figure, you won't be able to through MattyCollector.com. There are a few on eBay ranging from $20 to about $50. Although there were also a couple out of package for way cheaper. If you're looking to build up your Batman rogues gallery, you might want to try to track this one.

ehh... not enough detail, the action figure looks dated compared to most today.

I don't want this toy, but I'm really glad that the figure is wearing clothes. Poison Ivy didn't used to, so phew!

Looks like a poor man's version of the figure they did years ago as part of the DC Direct Hush line.

I've always liked the Ivy figure from the Hush line. Although her waist was impossibly thin. This figure isn't bad though. Be cool to see a warrior Ivy like in Swamp Thing.

Terrible paint job. Thats the biggest problem with toys these days.

This HAS to be some sort of joke, because otherwise CV is really scraping the barrel here - if there's even anything left of a barrel to scrape now.
