@g_man: Great and interesting episode. There has been serious horror stories in the past. the where done by EC (no typo it stands for Entertainment Comics). They released a bunch of horror stories but supernatural and more realistic stories in the 40's and 50's. The art work was great. They made it more and more bloody over the time because DC and Marvel began to publish horror stories doing (which wasn't needed and they regarded). They where the primarily reason for the comic book burnings and the introduction to the comic code. Bill Gaines (the owner of EC) went on stand to defend comics and the freedom of speech. Sadly the code was introduced and EC stopped publishing the stories. Bill Gaines gave up to publish anything else when the code wanted to change the colour of character from black to white (the black person was seen in a positive light). The story did get published with the black guy but that was the end of it. There is a documentary about EC and mainly their flagship comic Tales from the Crypt.

Yea I think it's a real shame that everybody wants there stories rushed, I really enjoy a long thought out mystery, one that has actual clues dotted about the issues so can try and work it out your self.

@g_man: Fair enough. The podcast just gave me the impression that you thought horror comics hasn't been done before.

Indeed. Stories are often best the first time you read it where there still is a mystery that it doesn't have the second time you read it.

@g_man I completely agree with the last discussion point in this podcast from @jasonakaslv question. Listening to both this podcast and the other Comic Vine podcast as well as the website in general has really clued me in to new comics to try. My pull list now includes a lot of great stuff that previously I might not have thought to try out or given a chance. So I think that is pretty cool. Thanks Comic Vine!

@tupiaz: I meant that it's coming back. We're seeing a resurgence of horror comics in recent years.

Yeah it is and it is great. Comics have probably never been this diverse since the golden age. Also old franchise is coming back (TMNT and Valiant Comics). This is a new era in comics and it is looking very bright.

Nailbiter sounds interesting. Revival has done well with the Twin Peaks style of storytelling. Living in a small town I tend to love stories like this.
