A costume needs to fit the character and also be something the character would realistically wear. A character should look at an outfit in the mirror and decide to put it on. Starfire's extremely revealing outfit suits her as does her name. Captain Marvel and the outfit she wears are vastly superior and better suit Carol Danvers as a hero. While the aesthetics of the old costume were great and I liked them, there is no way she would have worn it.
I'm sure that its because of the site update and all that, but, the connection between the Comic Vine podcast and iTunes isn't working.
I know I can still listen to it here, but for those of us that can't sit online for hours at a time.
Just heads up Tony.
P.S. Keep up the good work.
I use Zune as my reader and it's erroring getting the episode. Something must be wrong with the RSS feed. I'm behind a bit anyway, but look forward to hearing this one. I've been loving Captain Marvel and Avengers Assemble as well since Kelly Sue Deconnick took over.
1. pre-flashpoint, dc had to age the superheroes of the golden age bec of the tie to 1938. Post-flashpoint, the tie to 1938 was removed so now Jay Garrick is young in earth 2. In the silver age, earth 1 and earth 2 superheroes were drawn the same age. In the bronze age, they started showing white hair on earth 2 superman, earth 2 Jay Garrick and others. Late in the bronze age, they had to do a retcon to say earth 1 Black Canary is the daughter of the earth 2 Black Canary, whereas they were the same person for like 20 years.
2. If science is able to replicate the thousands of micronutrients found in plant food, then it would be ok to rely on tablets and other artificial food. Right now, it is better to eat real whole unprocessed unrefined plant food like sprouts, baby greens, greens, seaweed, herbs like onion & turmeric, mushrooms, fruit like berries, sweet potato, sprouted seeds/nuts, sprouted legumes, sprouted buckwheat, etc. to get the thousands of micronutrients needed to prevent cancer, prevent heart disease and prevent diabetes. Avoid juice, sugar, salt, oil, and other processed/refined food.
Somebody might have already mentioned this or maybe you noticed later on in the podcast, but I'm at 54~ minutes in and you're answering Ask GMan questions you've already answered before. D=
Cant wait to listen to this podcast, Tony. You guys always keep my commute entertaining with your two podcasts. I just read The first issue of Captain Marvel yesterday and enoyed it a lot. I hope the quality in the writing and art have kept up, and I will buy as soon as a hardcover is released.
But the new look looks good. And at least there are no zombies...
...yet.
@adamcrouch Regarding the JSA characters, they were considered to be older than the JLA from the very beginning, when DC first began to distinguish between the two earths in the JLA-JSA crossovers in the 60s. The characters constantly made references to being near retirement age and the earth-2 Batman is said to be in "semi-retirement," while the earth-2 Robin is an adult. Later they claimed that Earth 2 vibrated more slowly than Earth 1 and tried to de-age them somewhat, but the fact that some of them actually fought in World War II in the comics made it difficult to reduce the age gap between the two groups without permanently erasing some of their continuity (which, believe it or not, DC didn't want to do).
Ack! It's like The Walking Dead! I wake up one morning and EVERYTHING has changed! EXCITING new look! Settings RE-set! New young'uns being welcomed into the world (hopefully not named Lil' @$$kicker)! A new podcast! Must adapt! Must... ADAPT!
But the new look looks good. And at least there are no zombies... Right?
