The Invincibly Super Massive Comic Book Podcast of Stuff: Episode 18
Mar. 5, 2013 9:22pm
This week Comic Vine staff writer Gregg Katzman joins Tony for a full discussion on the events from BATMAN INCORPORATED #8 along with talk of other comics and questions.
Gregg your too polite, tell Tony who is boss! Oh, wait Tony is the boss....carry on.
Oh, also, if by chance either of you read this, do you think this over shadows Death of the Family? I loved the idea of driving a wedge in the family, but nothing brings together like a death so it like negates DotF right? just seems like bad timeing....

I think the planning was awful, to be honest. Yes, DotF was awesome, but it seems like that's completely thrown out the window since Damien's death. This will absolutely bring them together.
Man, here I was hoping the next year of Batman would him going solo trying to earn everyone's trust back. Guess not.
But did Damian's death save anyone? Was it heroic really? Stalling for time is cliche at best. Built in out is the fact that he's Robin but that aside if they do bring him back its even more tricky than Jason, kids don't get to come back to life, not kids of one of the pantheon of comic gods or real life people. I'd say the backlash from that would/will be different than if it was just another character imo.
There's a point though, where helping a man grieve has to end. The Batman &... team-ups will happen but Bruce losing his son only makes him more closed off to his own world--thereby empowering Joker's win inside Death of the Family. Batman will keep more and more from them again "to protect". Having everyone team-up together with Bruce for multiple issues following this Requiem ruins the world set up in the Bat-universe. And this is all without knowing the final tragedies Grant Morrison has set for the finale of Batman Incorporated which will ALSO push the Bat-universe in a different stroke.
I'll go ahead and assume this is a good thing :)Â Â @YourNeighborhoodComicGeek said:

haha, what can I say? My parents raised me to be super polite :P  Yeah, I think it does. Sadly, the wedge Joker wanted to create isn't as powerful as intended. It seems the biggest thing DotF will do is make Nightwing move and mess up Jason's face. Aside from that, no one seems to be harboring any ill feelings towards Wayne anymore.  But now... Talia's actions could change that, but again, that's because of her, not Joker.  @Jawshco said:

NO, you are.   No, I don't believe he saved anyone (unless Heretic would have killed Nightwing or Red Robin when they were down)... all he really did was stall the brute at most. But he went down giving it all he can against impossible odds, and for that, he's a champ in my eyes.Â
I got cUght listening to comicvine podcasts at eork so now I cant listen to you guys anymore:'( but you all are doing a wonderful service with these. I think I enjoy listening and reading about comics here more than actually reading comics. Keep up the great work!
And for those of you listening to podcasts at work, try not to be so obvious like me with big ass head phones, otherwise you will end up like me.

*You have to be stealthier, man! Maybe just have one earphone in (you know, instead of huge headphones :P).
*Gregg does not condone doing non-work related things at work.
Here's the next thing: Are we now supposed to think that Batman 666 and Batman Inc. #5 are Bruce's vision of things to come? Not that i want my comics pre-fed to me decades before hand, but the Daminan/Batman was pretty interesting, bringing in the metaphysical to the Bat Universe would've been boss.
As much as i grew to love that heroic psycho lil'clone badass, the thought of bringing him back would be much worse. My money is on Talia re-drugging Bruce and drawing out more "Bat-seed", poppin one in the evil-bake oven and PRESTO! Danny Wayne Al' Ghul.
I don't think they should get a new Robin too soon. Wait at least 2 years before someone else becomes Robin, IMO. But I would like to see Batman and Huntress team up.
I don't think Batman knows Huntress is his (alternate-reality) daughter. He may know of her existence and the fact that she was stealing from him, but I don't think he knows he's (technically) her father. Did she tell Damian that they were siblings? I haven't been reading World's FInest so I wouldn't know, but even if Damian knew they were brother and sister, there's no guarantee that he told Bruce.
@FanofUltraman: "He" was, and then fell onto a cab or something. He uttered his last words to Peter, not to let Baby may forget her Uncle Ben. Then he dissolved. Pssh. Yeah, right. WHY WOULD HE DISSOLVE IF HE WAS A PERFECT CLONE WITHOUT THE DISSOLVING SIDE EFFECT?
Honestly, I hope Ben finds a retcon cannon and shoots Kaine out of existence so can have the true Scarlet Spider once more. But how can we have him without his lame 90's hoodie? That's the real question.
