G-Man, Babs and Red L.A.M.P. are joined by new video producers Ana and Kane as we talk about Namor's scaley underwear, Spider-Man getting arrested, big comic 'events' and whether or not Storm is bootylicious.
Why should Geoff Johns kill Kyle he didn't write him did he? I've read more people like GLC than the main title by Geoff Johns. And Blackest Night seems to have started only hours ago in DCU time it makes sense for DC heroes to be still shocked.
I don't think Batman is in the Omega verse since Darkseid is dead and that's why he was in a cave in the ancient past.
On the way the site is set up it's fine but I would like to see more comics related news and less comic book movie news or comic book TV news.
I never know what to expect from the CV podcast each week, one week it's all about professionalism, another it's about complete randomness. This week was definitely a random week, you keep me guessing! :P
Regarding what to include in the Comic News, try to mix in much relevant comic related topics as possible, but not necessarily written reviews. The video reviews are great, and while I do enjoy reading the written reviews, I think you can have too much of a good thing. Try to pare it down a bit in that regard. Include them but try not to write so many, at least not all at once, maybe spread them out a bit?
Conversely, perhaps if you guys could work ( a 4 letter word) at using a bit more diversity in the Comic News section that would be great. Comic movie news is great, but let 's face it, a lot of it is either speculation or rumor, or just force fed 4-1-1 from the studios. What else to include? Well, whatever you think is Comic News worthy material. Maybe delve into some Comic Strip stuff once in a blue moon.
Showcase and review more titles that DON'T get the spotlight as G-Man does once in awhile, personally, that interests me. Small press, Indies, companies that aren't the "big guns". Plenty of them are out there, plenty of creator owned and produced titles need attention in the crowded Comic arena.
I think some of the spotlight should be shed on some of the Indie comics.... not just Archaia (Love them BTW!!) but some other ones. For the most part I really look forward to the Friday Podcasts! they really feel genuine and hilarious! Keep it up I'm diggin' the Namor love He was/is one of Marvel's most under rated heroes.... Man I hope that changes soon!
I'm for the idea of having the comicvine staff doing another artist contest, since the last contest i won during that time and research into each of your profiles trying to develop the "golden age" versions I've developed story and designs for almost the entire comicvine staff, and i was curious if we could get more of the staff in character, which you had done with the battle between Cpt. Cascader and Red L.A.M.P. which was fantastic, other than that i think written reviews could overload everyone on the site with the 5 reviews trend you seem to be taking, I have a question: What would you do if you discovered that super-heroes were real?
The rings download the memory of the victim and takes control of the corpse so no there is no trace of the original self. This has been shown in R.E.B.E.L.S and Doom Patrol.
so, you wanted an answer to whether the users prefer news or reviews and here is my answer:
News Articles: As much as some news articles really do appeal to me, I for one am not really worried about an update every few days on who might be having a role in some comic book movie. Rather I just want to know when a new comic book movie is coming to theaters or maybe just reviews of the movie after it gets into theaters like was done with Watchmen. So although I wouldn't want all news of comics gone, I have a feeling if you didn't make articles the users would anyways, I mean before we had articles we had people constantly posting links to Newsarama articles and the like.
Comic Book Reviews: Now this idea I like, as long as everyone gets some attention, even the comics I already know I don't like. What I mean by this is say even though I know I don't like Grimm Fairy Tales, having a review of it would be a nice addition because it brings up more talk about comics on the site and raises the awareness to people just getting into comics. I would also like to see reviews on such things as Project Superpowers or Hack/Slash, two comics I've been on the fence about reading for a while. They look awesome but no one really ever talks about them so I have no idea if they are good. And then of course there's the incredibly indy comics that maybe no one reads and just other little unnoticed gems like Tank Girl: Skidmarks. So yeah, this would be my preferred of the two options as long as it wasn't like reviewing all 30 Marvel releases, 15 DC releases, 3 Image releases, and then an Archaia or Dark Horse comic or two thrown in. But yeah, I doubt my one vote is going to impact the final decision...life isn't like Futurama.
well. . .i really like the blackest night book. im a really big fan of it and i feel they strongly represent the "are you really 'you'?" which, like you said, strongly occured in the tie-ins and the actual blackest night. like you said with the fight btween Hawk and Dove and Tim and his father, it really is relevant in Blackest Night with the Atom on how he deals with the strong compassion and dread he feels for Elongated Man and Sue and then at the end of Issue 4 with Jean Loring ripping Damage's heart out (TEAR another TITAN bites the dust :/) it really just interests me when the dead rise and how different heroes have to adjust with it or . . . well. . . face their deaths. i really just love it haha. and i dont think all "Big Year Events" have been horrible. I mean some of them havent been great (ok some of them have really sucked i know) but i really have hope for Blackest Night haha. :)
mmmmm. . .i think (and im a noobie), i really love the site and um guess its just fine hahaha. i think that like each one of you should read certain comics or a select few read some and then post daily reviews and then on friday talk about the comics in general plus other topics dealing with comics in pop culture lol. there's my idea haha.
" btw, is it just me or are those video produces not new at all? their voices sound familiar from a podcast on some other Whiskey Media website... "
Just because they where on this week's Squadcast doesn't mean that they're not new for going on the CV podcast as well. This is still their first week working for Whiskey.

they've been on the Squadcast for a long time already, and been in AV videos too...I haven't listened to all the AV podcasts but I remember them from some really early ones

Wait, are you confusing Kane and Ana with John and Gia?

no, I know there voices are nothing like John and Gia...but there were two guests Gia spoke with in early podcasts (I can't remember their names) but you could always download one of those podcasts and I just thought these were the same two people but maybe I'm completely off

Thank goodness for that, I thought it would be a bit weird, their four voices are nothing a like haha EDIT: checked it out, Dawn and Naomi were the two you were referring to.
G-Man! You're killing with the constant mispronunciation of Asgard. It's not 'ass'+guard'. I can't help but thinking you are advertising some hygiene product I really don't want to know about. It's 'as'+'guard'.

P.S. The non-superhero week that was talked about on the last podcast is a MUST. There are just too many good books that don't involve tights to not get a spotlight.
Also, Babes my wife and I are right there with you about the end of the film version of "V for Vendetta". If your eyes didn't at least water something is dead inside.
