We're back in the studio. We're seeing a lot of comic book TV casting news along with some movie rumblings. We also go through this week's books with some spoiler discussion towards the end of the show.
What you guys complain about Gotham is the same thing you mock others for complaining about Baron Blitzkrieg
I complain about Gotham being directionless and nothing but fan service. The CW-verse is many steps above that and well done, overall, even though I am not a fan of Arrow.
I don't know if Joshua Williams reads these comments, but if so you MUST read Vol. 3 of the Marvel NOW! Deadpool by Gerry Duggan/Declan Shalvey. The whole story is one big team up with Deadpool, Wolverine, and Cap, and it's very dark and serious in tone with some amazing art and writing.
Also I like the new format of separating the spoilers, but I think you guys are burying the lead by putting the questions before the comic talk. I prefer the format you did at the beginning of the month that was: News > Comics > Comic Spoilers > Questions.
@drellassassin: I can see the logic in that. The problem then is for people to know when the spoiler talk is finished. I don't want to limit it to exactly 30 mins or so. And sometimes I do make tiny edits in the audio, like if there's a huge awkward pause after someone tries making a joke. So it wouldn't be exact. Yeah, I could put in timestanps here but if someone listens directly from iTunes, they wouldn't see the notes. Also, my Friday afternoons after recording and editing are jampacked trying to start Awesome Art Picks. I just don't have the time since I like to try to make it home at a reason all time to see my wife and kid.
@g_man:That makes sense for the people who are trying to easily skip the spoiler section. And I'm not proposing time stamps or anything that requires extra work (that's not logical), but it does feel weird to not have the first talk about the week's comics be until an hour and 45 minutes into the show.
Anyway, you know I love you guys and the podcast. Just throwing out some constructive criticism, and I would like to see you continue to play around with the format to see what works best for everyone. Have a great weekend!
Oh come ON! I spoiled one thing one time and everyone agreed that Tony should have finished Daredevil by then! I'm not the bad guy here! o_O
- I really liked the New-New format of News, Questions, Comics, Spoilers. It was a bit jarring to hear questions so early but only for a second. The only thing I wonder for you guys is that it seems like questions are easier to put last because you can just stop answering them once you run out of time. Seems like with comics at the end it might be hard to squeeze them all in. But anyway, this was a great episode.
- I think it's pronounced Guy-Rick (Gyrich) but only because that's how they pronounced it in the 90s X-Men cartoon.
- @undeadpool: Couldn't we relax a bit about Ma Kent's comments in the trailer?? I mean she's his mom for crying out loud. All she cares about is him and his well being. Love makes people selfish after all. I mean this is the family that told young Clark not to use his power to save other people just because they were worried about how normal people would treat him.
- Oh, and I think the ice cube in the dryer is about creating steam to get the wrinkles out, kinda like an iron.
- @whosfreug: Nice cosplay connection. What are the odds eh?

Have to agree with @jonny_anonymous here. I don't usually go to the trouble of quoting the podcast but "...they're not taking the exact character from the comics and plugging him into the show, it's an adaptation. There's going to be changes..." was the defence Mat made for Arrow regarding Baron Blitzkrieg, meanwhile the carny version of Joker from Gotham gets blasted by all three hosts because he's too different. Just sayin.
@d9000: that is a good point.I know alot of people hate Gotham, and people enjoy it.i'm the few that enjoy it for what it is.Just feels like at times on the podcast there is a ton of Gotham bashing.I'm ok with Joker being different. I'm use to seeing him in many forms whether it be in comics, video games, shows like Batman Brave and The Bold,The Batman,or even Young Justice.

Yeah, it can be hard to accept new versions of characters. The Batman version of Joker was a good example. I don't know, I like Gotham for what it is. I can't always defend it but it suffers from people having really high expectations for any Batman related.
I don't think Michael Chiklis will be Flass though. The name and description of the character are totally different (unless it's a swerve or something).
@d9000: oh yea,I was thinking probably clayface? Cause I know in The Batman cartoon one of the cops turned into clayface eventually. So really curious and excited to see what character he is going to play.
