Glad to see a long missed podcast :)
Kitty was total out of line. She could have easily said "Hey Scott, that probably wasn't a good idea" but instead she acted like a total ass about it.
Also I can't believe nobody mentioned the Constantine tv show
Also I can't believe nobody mentioned the Constantine tv show
They need to update the news page with this!
@jonny_anonymous: I love Scott but he's the guy stupid enough to have a psychic affair while married to the second most powerful telepath on the planet. Shady and dumb. He left his wife and infant child to run around with Jean in X-Factor. He's also the guy that 'accidentally' killed the guy that was like a father to him. I wouldn't trust him alone with her.
It's the one I'm looking forward to the most as well as the Netflix shows.
@g_man Wolverine has done way dodger stuff than that and yet he regularly takes young females under his wing.
How dare you guys not reading two of the best comics right now!?!?!!?!? Swamp Thing and Green Arrow(Probably the best DC comic right now). Very disappointing!
Can you believe this @k4tzm4n?
And I was very excited for the new Punisher series since he is my favorite character, but it is just not doing it. I miss Greg Rucka's Punisher :(
@jonny_anonymous: yeah but Wolverine is like a great-grandfather. He has more honor than Scott. Scott sees them as disposable soldiers. Wolverine cares.
This is because of you Matt.
Hey now, I thought you hated me for giving the last issue 4 stars? :P But really, to each their own, right?
Yeah, I enjoy the new Punisher, but it never reaches a level where you love an issue, unfortunately.
@k4tzm4n: Green Arrow after Lemire took over is too good to not read or love. I can say the same for Arrow also.
Team Arrow FTW!
@madeinbangladesh: Also, I think you're totally jumping to conclusions. I don't think any of us are NOT reading it. At least for me, I just didn't get to read them by the time we recorded this episode. I did point out that crazy two-page spread. And sorry, as much as I dig GREEN ARROW, I wouldn't say it's the best. But glad it gets your motor running.
@g_man: A great grandfather that was at one time a worse murderer than the Punisher? Also he's killed every single one of his own children. At no point has Cyclops ever used children as disposable soldiers.
@jonny_anonymous: Wasn't that basically the argument in SCHISM. Cyclops felt it was okay for kids to become little mutant soldiers and to fight or kill when necessary? Look how messed up Idie is now. Yeah, you can make the 'kill or be killed' argument but Wolverine felt it was their jobs, as the adults, to deal with that. Not turn children into killers. But hey, when you have a daughter, if you want some adulterer to sit on a bed with your sixteen-year-old daughter, that's your call. This is what we're supposed to be arguing about.
@g_man: No, Schism was about Cyclops wanting to teach mutants to be able to fight so they could defend themselves and others where as Wolverine just wanted to teach them to control their powers and keep them away from trouble. Cyclops never told Idie to kill anybody, he told her to do what she thought was right and she thought killing was the right choice, Cyk didn't even bring that up. So you think adultry = pedophila? That's a bit of a stretch don't you think? Considering Wolverine spent most of his time trying to have an affair with Jean and sleeping with people like Squirrel Girl, he's hardly the white knight you're trying to make him out he is.
Yeah, he killed Daken because he felt he was a threat to his school and has been depressed as sin about it throughout Uncany Avengers. So evil. And he killed his other remaining children without knowing they were his kids in a set up, and the pain that incident left with him was part of his motivations for his actions during Schism. Add context to these things.
I swear, the people that try use that instance against Wolverine make it sound like he was just lying around the house drinking beer and went:
"I'm itching to kill something today. I guess my kids will do."
@jonny_anonymous: I just don't understand why you keep bringing Wolverine into this. But like I said, if you want an adult teacher in a bedroom with your daughter, that's your call. Cyclops shouldn't have been in there. Period.
@g_man: And Kitty shouldn't have been an ass. Period.
@jonny_anonymous: Yeah. Okay. "Hey dude, don't go into the underage girl's room." What an ass. How dare she try to look out for a child since Scott always makes the right choices.
@g_man: If she had actually said that then it would have been fine except she was acting all high and mighty, she stood and watched him make the right choices and yet still bit his head off.
@jonny_anonymous: Sorry. Again, if my daughter was there, I'd want Kitty there looking out for her.
Man, that scene really got to me. Remender made it so powerful.
@g_man: I just don't see the difference between this and when Hepzibah was spending time alone with Young Cyk or when Kitty was alone with Young Iceman
Yeah, I wish writers would give Wolverine more emotional moments like that. Reminds us that he's human.
Pretty good podcast this week so it's worth some commenting on I suppose. I think @undeadpool let me down this week by not reading Swamp Thing in particular. A long time ago I asked a question about where fungi falls within the DC universe and Charles Soule was good enough to address this in the latest issue. I'm not sure that it was a completely satisfying explanation but I still enjoyed it. Maybe you should change your name to unmysteriopool. And I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing Mat say Vaaan Jensen though I'm sure Mr. Jensen got tired of it immediately. I totally remember that Adams Family Hammer song.
As for the Adamantium vs Vibranium thing at the end I think the answer is Vibranium. Adamantium is clearly a much denser material but Vibranium seems a lot more versatile. Energy absorption is an important factor in my eyes. While an Adamantium shield wouldn't be damaged by an explosive force the wielder would probably still feel the full brunt of the concussive force behind it. In contrast a Vibranium shield would buffer the wielder from a lot more of explosive damage as well as several other energy types. Versatility is the way to go.
You guys made me laugh quite a bit this week. Thanks again and keep up the great work.
I've retired from events.
@g_man Folks give Scott a lot flack. All things considered Scott handled the issue with Past Jean well. As far as folks feel he has fallen he still understands the ramifications of his actions. Again Scott leaving Maddie to find out if Jean was really alive was an almost impossible decision to make. Either way he would have been screwed. The psychic affair was bad though.
And as much as Wolverine cares about the students I feel that he is a bit unrealistic. Kids should be kids but in the current environment they are more hated then they have ever been. Learning to use your powers is great but being prepared for the worse is better.
In regards to what @jonny_anonymous mentioned about Kitty being out of line I am on the fence. Kitty has to protect her students but in this instance she heard exactly how Scott responded. She her attitude was just an emphasis that Scott needs to watch himself around Jean just as Jean needs to be watched around Scott. And most importantly Scott & Kitty agree about Jeans training.
And vibranium all day!
Thanks for saying Captain Marvel Mr. Guerrero :)
I don't think Wonder Woman needs a costume change, her New 52 one looks so cool.
I as going to post this a week ago but forgot, Wally's race was changed because of the Flash TV series coming out. I also wanted to say how much I appreciated Mr. Francis (Mr. Elfring) opening up and sharing his feelings in a comment. I was going to post a similar comment talking about my own personal experiences, but after a lot of typing my computer crashed and I lost it all.
I had some other stuff I wanted to post relating to this podcast, but my computer crashed (again) so I lost it, and I don't remember the other stuff I typed.
Also speaking of Kickstarters, donate to this guy's Patreon, because he is the BEST at getting new people into comics. A dollar toward him, is a dollar toward comics.
(seriously donate, he's awesome)
Awww...c'mon. Even though you disliked Amazing Spiderman 2 you still gotta talk about it.
Thanks Matt, for letting Cory know that "inside Baseball" is a thing he should stop saying. It`s really just weak.
Hope Miss J can do a podcast again. You guys would do well to have a female voice in the mix.
I agree with you guys about putting Superman on the Lois Lane book in that it isn't needed. At my comic book store I buy from the Lois Lane book is with the Superman books.
The All-New X-Factor kids need a new costume! ASAP!!!
