WOW 3 hours...thanks to you I have something to do on Friday night with my Manhattan Drink and still stay at home safe and sound

Awww, no Sara on the podcast this week. That makes me sad =( Hope everything is alright. Feels as if I wasted that task Tony gave to spread some random acts of kindness if all weren't present.. Maybe I'll send it into a PM or something. I still enjoyed the podcast.

The new story of Joker seems like a really interesting overall plot. It's actually good they didn't start with it in the reboot.

It was Scarlet Witches fault. Trying to push the blame onto Doom is just an excuse for her to not have any responsibility. You're making every excuse for her. Yet, Scott needs to take the blame? They're both at fault for their actions.

I don't know about that mailing address for the CV audience. I mailed a letter to you all months ago, I don't know if you got it, and I know it was never returned to sender. I almost wonder if it got blocked from your mail department becasue of my wax seal I had on it.

The backup of Batman 13 was better than the main story but did felt a little too much like The Clown at Midnight issue.

Grant Morrison wanted to use Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown but DC rejected the idea.

@comic_shaun: We didn't get it this week. Corey said his store didn't either. Think it might've been a west coast shortage thing. Next week for sure.

Why does nobody like mutants any more?

Posted by director421

Just in time for my birthday. New podcast! Been waiting on what you think of the new books.

Posted by G-Man

@Jonny_Anonymous: In comics? Because it was mutants that possessed the Phoenix Force end killed millions. So of course they blame the entire species...

what humans were killed during AvX?

Also I dont think Lori and the baby are going to be like in the comics that would be sad

I liked how Scott Summers was portrayed. I could actually, easily, see him being a bad guy now. A Magneto type mutant terrorist. With a band of his followers once he breaks out or is freed. Almost like being introduced to Magneto when he was a good guy and slowly watching him turn into a bad guy/ I would Love for Cyclops to become one of the X-Men/Avengers' enemies like Mr. Sinister, Magneto, Apocalypse, and now Cyclops. Would be really cool. I mean he took credit and blame but also said it wasn't me it was the Phoenix who did the worst but the best was all me and I won. Seeing him talk to that guy in prison almost reminded me of Magneto talking to a potential follower. And He wants to be martyred, so that young mutants will see him as a hero, almost something sinister about his ego and persona now.

X-Factor is a book I WANT to read so badly but its also the only book I have ever felt like I don't know where to get started. I know I could just pick up an issue, but they always seem to be in the middle of a story. And I know I could just pick up a book but I want to start with Vol. 1 and my story never has it. Where would be the best place to get started with this X-Book? Because I really want to read it.

I agree Foggy is being a jerk. I mean maybe he isn't in on the whole superhero world, but he is friends with Daredevil and knows his secret. And I imagine DD has told him about some of his experiences and DD was just controlled by an evil force. Shouldn't his friend Foggy give Matt the benefit of the doubt, or instead of tough love get out of my house stuff maybe he should be pleading with Matt at every turn to get help/psychiatric help. But instead Foggy is (in a realistic way) pushing Matt away and sort of only thinking of himself. And what he did to Matt in this issue... man, what a jerk.

Thanks for answering my questions. I almost wrote that the The End story could be a happy ending, I always imagine Peter Parker having a happy ending, growing old and having grand children and eventually dying of old age instead of in a fight with Norman Osborne. A few years back Wizard magazine did their ideas, and with Spider-Man he and Norman Osborne fell into the Negative Zone or something and were locked in a never ending struggle. I didn't like that. I was hoping to hear any The End stories like for any character, not just Marvel. And not just sad either.

I agree that at this point they wont do another revamp but maybe they can work their stories to become more like the way DC was before New 52 if they don't like how their sales are doing in a few years. I mean eventually they might want to do another epic revamp idea. They did one with Infinite Crisis. (Jonah Hex was sent into the future to be a cowboy space ranger type it said) and comics always do these big revampy ideas where they mix things up. Marvel instead is doing Marvel Now which looks like its not rebooting anything, just mixing up their current characters and keeping all their past stuff instead of starting from scratch. Maybe a better way to go. In a few years who knows how DC's universe will look or what it will be like.

In terms of rebooting a Marvel character from scratch I just meant that if you HAD to choose, which would you choose and why? Like maybe Start the Punisher from scratch and show him and his family attacked, maybe take Peter back to high school, etc. Just curious.

Thanks for telling me your mailing address. Expect something soon.

Solid podcast, guys. If people are thinking about complaining about the cost of comics in the U.S., come to Australia and have to pay double the cover price and at least $30 per TPB like me. It's super painful on the wallet.

"Continuity Cops, Starring G-Man"

I think we have to accept at this point that tight continuity is not a high priority at the big two. Neither is the backstory of the infamous 5 years of DCnU. There's no Roy Thomas or Jim Shooter pouring over each release making sure all titles are in sync. Therefore I think more focus on the quality of the storytelling over continuity gaffes would better inform the podcast listeners.

Bring back Norm.

I love the podcasts! But due to Corey's enthusiasm and positivity on certain books with "amazing" and "sooo good" I find myself adding more and more books to my pull list and it's taking a toll on my budget! All in good fun though. Keep up the great work on the site. I look forward to hearing all you guys Sara, Corey and G-Man every week. Makes reading comics an even better experience!

I don't think continuity maintenance and good storytelling are mutually exclusive. A good writer knows how to either tie previous stories into his/her own OR tell his/her stories in such as way that continuity is not a major issue (see: Mark Waid).

But Marvel is really starting to run into the same problems DC did in the 70s and 80s: their continuity has become fraught with plot holes caused by time travel, the existence of multiple universes, children whose parentage has changed multiple times, origins told and retold, a fairly high number of books on a small number of characters (meaning there's a lot for writers to keep track of coming out at any given time). I know Marvel's stubbornly proud about their insistence that their continuity is unbroken since the 60s, but that's not a necessarily good thing.

@Agent_Prince: Who's Norm?

@G-Man Marvel always claimed the Avengers Assemble book was set in the 616 Marvel Universe, but it would use the guys who appeared in the film. House ads for the new creative team, featuring Spider-Woman, are emphasising this. You asked who Steven Lang was Tony - he was a Sentinels maker, and he's in your head! The Point One book was nowhere near 80pp - more like 56.

The Microverse was marvel cannon long before this crossover

@G-Man: Aha, further to my post above, someone asked Tom Brevoort about Avengers Assemble on Formspring - I don't know if the podcast referred to is Comic Vine:

Man, I hate these forums - every time you refresh after the first page it returns to that first page - can't that be fixed?

Great podcast guys. Both of you dudes never fail to cheer me up with your views on today's comics and general silliness. Looking forward to hearing you guys give Sara a hard time next episode. Thanks for taking my question. It's good to know I'm not the only one to see the potential that Ivy has in Swamp Thing. Keep up the great work on the site.

Hi Tony, Sara, and Corey, I saw a photo of Sara; Snap, crackle, and pop! She is the next Olivia Mum ( compliment). It would be nice to see more photos of you all because I still don't know what Corey looks like? Did you have a booth at the NYC con? I didn't se you all. Comment from a few weeks ago... I was at a Boston con 2 years ago and the convention center was sharing the place with Obama. At first they were going to make my pregnant wife of 8 1/2 months walk upstairs instead of an elevator for security reasons. Tony ... Can you go slower with answering questions? Pick less questions and spend more time answering if possible. A question that I was interested that was asked was last week was " how does NYC con compare to San Diego." You said NYC was crowded. I would have like to hear more specifics. I know you try to get to each one but it sometime shortchanges answers. Question... Do you think that in the future paper comics will be replaced by electronic comics? And if so what effect will that have on comic cons and value of paper comics? You guys are great, Thx! Speckins

So the FF Ant-Man is Scott Lang, because Dr Doom killed his daughter, Cassie Lang (YA Stature)

I'm glad they're giving him something to do to justify the above. Definitely checking that out. Great Podcast...now onto the others.

Also ; for the whole Wonder Woman flying inconsistency; I've looked over Justice League and Wonder Woman past issues again; WW doesn't fly in JL issue 1-6. In issue 7, 5 years later she flies in the background of one of the panels. I'm assuming the WW solo title is occurring in the 5 year gap between JL 6-7. And will probably catch up at some point.
