Tony is away this week, so Mat, Jen, and Gregg take over to talk about comics and which comic book characters Jen and Mat would want on their fantasy football team.
Still in the midst of listening to the podcast, but I am surprised that so far you guys haven't mentioned James Robinson's last issue of Earth 2, or one of X-Factor's last issues, or All New X-Men. Just surprised.
@k4tzm4n@missj@inferiorego I always wanted to see the Superhero Olympics, just a sort of fun cutesy Oplympic tie in comic. Showing (either Marvel or DC) characters competing in a massive superhero Olympic games. Daredevil in Gynmastics and Boxing, Spider-Man also in gymnastics and weight lifting maybe. Thing and Hulk in wrestling. Black Widow in gymnastics as well as martial arts along with Psylocke Wolverine Daredevil Shi Chi (?) and a few others. Archery would be Hawkeye, and um, ... others... I guess. etc.
No real story would be the problem, except at the end each character would get Gold Medals and Silver and Bronze.
Maybe this would work best as a sort of animated special, a cartoon.

Penance, formerly Speedball, I heard Derick Roberts comment that he worked on Speedball back in the 90s and he didn't like how they changed him to Penance. He said so on Facebook and then at the comic con this year.
@missj I went through the same thing with comics. When I was younger I got the characters I liked in the comics. Then when I got older, around high school, I started getting comics based on artists. First artist I noticed was Alex Ross. Then I started getting comics and noticing the artist's styles and their names. Now I get comics and notice the artists and writers and everyone connected. I think its because when people are younger they don't pay much attention to who makes the stuff or how its made or maybe even how different the art and writing is from other comics. But once we get older we start to notice the individual styles and pick up the variations and nuances. I like to look at art and guess what other artists influenced them.
@inferiorego Your not alone with the Exiles. I LOVED the series with Winnick, even heard him talk about stories he wanted to do at a Comic Con once. But fell out of it around the time he left. Then I too picked up the second chance they were going to do with the all new team but it didn't last. I gave it a chance though, I would have kept getting it. I loved the concept.
At this recent Comic Con I saw many artists there and their prices ranged from $75 for a head sketch/drawing to $500 for a full body. Some were even around $150 for a head drawing (inked and detailed).
