Still in the midst of listening to the podcast, but I am surprised that so far you guys haven't mentioned James Robinson's last issue of Earth 2, or one of X-Factor's last issues, or All New X-Men. Just surprised.

@k4tzm4n@missj@inferiorego I always wanted to see the Superhero Olympics, just a sort of fun cutesy Oplympic tie in comic. Showing (either Marvel or DC) characters competing in a massive superhero Olympic games. Daredevil in Gynmastics and Boxing, Spider-Man also in gymnastics and weight lifting maybe. Thing and Hulk in wrestling. Black Widow in gymnastics as well as martial arts along with Psylocke Wolverine Daredevil Shi Chi (?) and a few others. Archery would be Hawkeye, and um, ... others... I guess. etc.

No real story would be the problem, except at the end each character would get Gold Medals and Silver and Bronze.

Maybe this would work best as a sort of animated special, a cartoon.

Penance, formerly Speedball, I heard Derick Roberts comment that he worked on Speedball back in the 90s and he didn't like how they changed him to Penance. He said so on Facebook and then at the comic con this year.

@missj I went through the same thing with comics. When I was younger I got the characters I liked in the comics. Then when I got older, around high school, I started getting comics based on artists. First artist I noticed was Alex Ross. Then I started getting comics and noticing the artist's styles and their names. Now I get comics and notice the artists and writers and everyone connected. I think its because when people are younger they don't pay much attention to who makes the stuff or how its made or maybe even how different the art and writing is from other comics. But once we get older we start to notice the individual styles and pick up the variations and nuances. I like to look at art and guess what other artists influenced them.

@inferiorego Your not alone with the Exiles. I LOVED the series with Winnick, even heard him talk about stories he wanted to do at a Comic Con once. But fell out of it around the time he left. Then I too picked up the second chance they were going to do with the all new team but it didn't last. I gave it a chance though, I would have kept getting it. I loved the concept.

At this recent Comic Con I saw many artists there and their prices ranged from $75 for a head sketch/drawing to $500 for a full body. Some were even around $150 for a head drawing (inked and detailed).

Yeah I know X-Factor #260 was my favourite issue of the week. Great character driven story about a superhero character actually dealing with superhero events as a real person would i.e not well. Poignant story about the effects of survivors guilt. Quicksilver and Polaris had such a good dynamic in that issue. It was as Corey said in his review, they are the perfect foils for each other.

I'm not only baffled that California apparently doesn't have any Dunkin' Donuts, as there are like 7 on each block in every state I've ever lived in, but also that California does indeed have Krispy Kreme, which is a much smaller chain than Dunkin' that is also located on the east coast.

I don't like Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme. I do however enjoy my local bakery Golden Glaze. It's a few blocks from my apartment and they have these insanely awesome red velvet creme cheese frosted cake donuts.

This was indeed an awkward episode what with all the delays and repeats but you know what? It was better than nothing so I applaud you guys for putting this one together. I need to hear someone talk about comics since no one in my day to day life reads anything.

It's pretty funny that Mat almost read my question. I deleted it because I decided later on that it wasn't that interesting for Corey or Tony to answer. Ironically enough it might have actually been fun to get answers from this particular group of goofballs but it doesn't really matter. I miss Tony so much but that guy works too damn hard. He should take any break he can get so he can maintain his editorial integrity. Thanks guys and keep up the great job.

Oh Matt, inferioego, or whatever other AKA you go by. I lived half way between Chicago and Indianapolis. Half of the people loved Chicago, half the Colts. So you can imagine a certain Superbowl with a lot of animosity at our jobs. Didn't like the Bears, but having been moved away because of military, hearing about Da Bears reminds me of home. Thanks, and as a commissioner of a fantasy football league, I wish their was a way we could have a comic fantasy league. Oh I miss Dunkin Donuts.

In the spirit of the topic, good game team.

Is anyone else interested in a ComicVine Fantasy Football League? If so, let me know and I can get something setup. I've been using Yahoo for over 10 years and it works well and is completely free. Depending on response I am will to setup multiple leagues by experience so you don't have someone like Jen playing someone who is new to football and fantasy.

Can we make this the permanent Comic Vine Podcast panel? Honestly it's the best ep I've heard in years. No music, nitpicking continuity, no Barry Allen in London, no fake Gasps, no hyperbole on how 'Amazing' each book was. The list goes on and on. Plus the three of you flowed well together and acknowledged each other's points. This is also a much more manageable length of show. There is no need to run 90 minutes on rudimentary questions that can be solved via a google search.

However... if that's you're interpretation of the Comic Vine rating system, then there's no rating for exemplary issues. The kind that win Eisners, do they get a 6/5? That is why many, including IGN, reserve the perfect rating for the once a year stunning issue.

A valid concern, but I'd say when it comes to issues of that nature, the praise lies in the details of the review. Plus, we tend to have "best ___" features at the end of the year, so I'm sure these standout issues will get their credit then. At any rate, glad you enjoyed listening.

I do an article at the end of the year that goes over our favorites for the year. Last year, we focused on storylines that felt like perfection (I talked about SPIDER-MEN). While I got bummed when we switched to full stars a couple years ago, it is what it is.

This is also why we have Top of the Pile, which focuses on the best of the month. I think there's numerous ways to figure out what is the best of the best, aside from the weekly reviews.

Oh Matt, inferioego, or whatever other AKA you go by. I lived half way between Chicago and Indianapolis. Half of the people loved Chicago, half the Colts. I go by either "Mat" and a couple friends call me "Matches" (after Matches Malone AKA Batman). We drafted last night, and I kept telling people not to draft Batman or the Hulk. No one laughed at that, but they "lol'd" when I called dibs on Aaron Hernandez. Football is my life, starting in one month. Also, I live 3 blocks from a DD. I haven't been to it in 3 months.

It seems very few people I meet have the same enjoyment of sports and comics. Growing up I found I got quite a few strange looks from both group of peers regarding the other. Now I announce at football and wrestling matches and have an expensive comic buying habit. Just good to have like minded people out there.

Stuff like Dunkin Donuts, and other simple pleasures of this nature are under appreciated when you think you can have it all the time. The first thing any of my 6 sisters or family visit in Indiana or Illinois is Pizza King or Arni's. Ever heard of it.

@longbowhunter: Oh heck yeah. I have such a craving for that. A lot of places will have "Chicago style , or New York style to varying degree of success, but nobody duplicates a pizza king or Arni's style pizza. Enjoy a Pizza King pizza for me. Just shows, you get attached to whatever style of food you grow up around.

Hurrah that Tony actually got a holiday, hope it was fun. And good on Jen, Gregg and Mat (extra G, missing T, stop it!) for giving us a podcast, I didn't find it especially awkward as regards the Skype. What I especially liked was the decision not to simply spend loads of time on the comic reviews, as it often winds up being:

'Who read this?'

'Not me'

'OK, who read this'.

'Me, here's what I said in my review'

I vote for a rotation between the current Gang of Five.

Mind, I do miss the days when we could safely assume comic fans didn't care about sport - all that American Football talk, blimey!

Worry not about the accidental plugs, I'm sure M--- E------ will survive a week with no mention ;)
