It turns out there were quite a few books that came out this week. Find out what Tony thinks might be his favorite book of the year, Corey's thoughts about his pipes and what Sara used to do on the farm.
I know I'm the 8000th person who's said this but: Happy Birthday G-Man! I pray it's a good one for ya! I love the music stuff you've been doing. Funny stuff.

I def agree. I was never a Green Lantern fan, but I started reading GL since Simon Baz debuted. I must say, This finale was amazing!I'm now an official Green Lantern fan. great job Geoff!!!
Firstly, Happy Birthday, Tony; and I'm shocked you didn't take the day off.
I don't particularly like the music stuff, but I also don't hate it. I'm more indifferent to it.
If I have any real criticism of what they do wrong with Batman in the comics. It's that they give him too many love interests. I know that Bruce needs to give the impression of a playboy, but he seems to get emotionally attached far too easily. You'd think a guy like Bruce would have issues about making himself emotionally available.
I'm glad the issue of James and DC came up. That's very concerning. I'm not talking about getting into the tabloid of the issue or speculating. More, what could this mean for the series. He seemed to have big plans for the series to come. I also just want to know that he's going to be alright. I really like James.
I really don't get the problems people have with a review they don't agree on. It's not as if the site doesn't offer readers an option to create they're own review.
I don't quite get the concept of how they make movies based on comics, but then change everything about them. The series is popular and known becasue of the fans. You want to make a movie because something is popular, then they change the things that make it popular. I know you can't make things to the letter, but that's no excuse for changing entire character motivations and personality.
Regarding my question, I was more thinking along the lines of how SHIELD found Loki based on little more than a photo. As far as this not being their area. SHIELD got involved in the events of IRON MAN 2, that that was primarily a personal matter of Tony's.
I'm with Sara and Tony with ARKHAM ORIGIN. I loved playing ARKHAM CITY, but I got burned on DLC. I wish I had waited for the DLC version and save the money. I'd rather just wait for the later version of the new game with the DLC. You know Deathstoke will be on the DLC Extra version.
O_O I save all the podcasts on my portable hard drive so my computer has space. But I do repeat listen to old podcasts quite often since many of the conversations are hilarious.
All that talk lead to me researching Green Lantern #20, and now I must buy it. Looks awesome. DC looks like its got some interesting stuff coming up. Add that to the almost exclusive $20s and more I spend on Marvel and thats going to get expensive.
One story that didn't live up to the hype for me was Secret Wars. I collected the figures as a kid but never read the story until I was in my mid twenties. I guess I was expecting way too much out of it but it just fell flat for me.
I know what you mean about Azzarello being a hard interview. I caught him at a Vertigo panel this year. First he shows up late then acts totally aloof the whole time. It was like pulling teeth to get him to answer a question.
Great episode as always guys. I got choked up on the same exact part that Tony mentioned in GL 20. That book was phenomenal. I'm a little disappointed that Tony didn't talk about Superior Spider-Man. I wanted to know if he thinks Spidey's going to bang a gong, get it on... with a little person. The only thing I can think of that could be in the Anti-Batman box would be a portable EMP. Disable all of Bruce's gadgets in the vicinity and taking him down would be child's play for Supes as long as the kryptonite ring is not in play.
While I'm proud of G-Man's restraint in playing music I thought he was going to play "She Blinded Me With Science," when Sara started talking about the scientific applications of Marvel characters near the end of the show. Thanks and keep up the great work guys. And happy birthday Tony. I would've gotten you something but what can you buy for the man who has everything?
Nice podcast by the way, I agree with you guys on Batman Incorporated. I honestly think it should be a book based on more of the actual team. It got me really pissed when I read the series as just another Batman book. I don't get it why they did that. I would like to get to know more about Batmans from all over the world. By the way, I read to that it's get cancelled too. Here's the link for proof. It's a real bummer because I would have liked a different focus on the book. :-(
Great podcast- certainly makes studying more bearable. I have/had a wild theory about who broke into Batman's batcave batcave - would it be too ridiculous if it was Martian Manhunter? I mean he's totally ok with the motive of putting together the JLA, he might be looking to weaken them before if/when the JL and JLA meet. Also, it's obvious Johns is looking to make MM more dangerous, more formidable, more ruthless than pre-52.
Whoops, I forgot to mention one thing. Tony @g_man, I think it's okay to play music in the podcast. I usually like it and I find it funny sometimes. You just went a little bit overboard that week. So, don't feel too bad and stop yourself from playing.

This is pretty much how I feel. I hope he comes back on the podcast sometime. He's so funny
Regarding Arkham Origins, I would not get too excited about the Deathstroke DLC until we know what it is. I really liked the Catwoman DLC for Arkham City, but the Nightwing DLC was trial rooms which was disappointing. I would have loved to have had him play a meaningful part of the story mode. I bet as we get closer to the release date we will know more.
Tony's right. Don't go crazy with the music.
I hardly ever save podcasts. I listen to about twenty podcasts a week and hardly ever have time to go back and listen to episodes I love. Maybe I will go and listen to a particular crazy section of an episode where the Giantbomb team said something (knife versus baseball bat, why the Fast and Furious movie series works, whatever) or going back to a Comic Vine episode to try and remember an issue the cast said was good (Batwoman better than Batgirl for example).
Great idea on a Batman Family title, @g_man - surely it would sell well. DC could virtually guarantee that by making it a $3.99 book, with a lead featuring someone such as Red Robin, and a back-up serial with Batman,
I'm disagreeing as regards Uncanny Avengers, though - I enjoyed the book hugely until the last two issues, and the Apocalypse Twins stuff ... that's the type of deep X-continuity I find so unintelligible and boring that it has me running for the Sentinels.
@undeadpool I'm surprised you expected the Green Team to be villains, I never got that from the pre-publicity at all. And as for making billionaires likeable, I don't find money any more of a barrier to likeability than flight or any other cool superpower. And besides, they'd be jealous of my looks and brains and charm ...
@g_man@undeadpool I'm not convinced these shout-out things actually work!
As regards the question of suitable books for a 14-year-old I'd not be so quick to recommend Identity Crisis, given that it turned on a rape (Gawd, I hate that script - it crapped all over JLA history).
Tony I love your podcasts they are so much fun to listen to and always gives me some great pointers for new books. You always have brilliant quests such as Booch. So thank you for making my drive into work barrable.

Agreed. "Sell some toys time." Love or hate modern crossovers, but they're usually at least attempting to tell a story.
@g_man @undeadpool @_SaraLima_ Aw kids, I'm sure I've said this previously - if you really believe no one in comics has hair as red as comic book characters, come to Scotland, the world's biggest consentration of redheads ... and a lot of 'em really are flame-haired, fiery types!
I'm nearly at the end of the podcast ... thanks so much for answering my question on DC vs Marvel 'reality'. Nice one ...
... but Sara thinks I may be passive aggressive. Actually, I'm just plain 'orrible. Grrrr.
Honest though, I was just trying to lay down some points. I am, in fact, a lovely English snugglebunny.
