I don't have any use for digital downloads at the moment. So the higher price would not be good for me unless they have the same comic offered at a lower price without the extra stuff.

Trying to apply logic to AvX is pointless. It's a comic version big, dumb summer blockbuster. The Avenger and X-Men have to fight for whatever stupid reason because that's the gimmick.

I was glad hearing Sara hating the idea of Batman inc. I've hated it but everyone seems to love it.

Sounds like AvX will end with the X characters placed in there own separate corner while the Avengers take over most of the Marvel Universe since Marvel owns the movie rights to characters who are breaking records. The series does sound bad though.

Loved the Hulk in Avengers favorite part of the movie maybe he will be a Stark Industries scientist?

So excited for The Dark Knight Rises I am not sure if Marion Cotillard is Talia it seems hard to believe Nolan would pull the same twist like he did with Ducard/Ra's Al Ghul I know there are certain pics of her on set but there seems to be more to it. Also have my doubts about Blake being Grayson Nolan is the type of Director who will use original characters.

Grant Morrison's stories all make sense by the time it is finished even one off issues become important and add to the story Batman 666 even foreshadowed future villains and plots later just like Action comics did. The whole Batman in the shadows concept does not really hold up after Year One at some point he is known by the people and criminals so him organizing in the light does not contradict anything he would do since he would do anything to save lives. It also shows that with Talia mind controlling thousands over the globe to declare war on Bruce that he will have to do things differently to stop her.

Rob Liefeld was more mad about the errors in the review than the review itself. People who read the review could be misled about what actually happens in the story. However, Rob was definitely rude and disrespectful in his behavior and attitude.

The digital sounds dicey. I can understand the added cost for those using it, but what about those who don't want the digital or don't have the device to read digital on? You're asking them to pay more for something that they can't take full advantage of. That sounds more like a way to get people to buy less if they are paying for content to can't use or don't want. With DVD digital downloads. I've never redeemed my digital copies, because you also need a device to watch those movies on. I have my Kindle Fire now, but I don't know if that could even work. Then I heard those expire, which is really irritating.

The Barbra Gordon conversation was a tad awkward to listen to. There was so much conversation without saying anything. I understand it's because you didn't want to spoil things for people. It's really sad to see how diminished she's become. As Oracle, she was a power broker who stepped out of the shadow of Batman to be a hero on her own. I had a lot more faith in Simone to do something grand with her. Is it her or editorial?

As far as Psylocke's relationship issues. I fear you may be over thinking things. Comics are rarely ever creating character relationships with that much depth. That's just the price you pay when creative teams switch.

I'm actually honestly shocked that Sara hasn't seen the new ASSASSIN'S CREED trailer. I remember I was going to Tweet to her about it, but figured she must have seen it already. The ARKHAM CITY DLC issue is pretty infuriating. It makes me regret getting the game so new when all this DLC is being packed into the game of the year edition. It makes me not want to ever buy games new.

Do people really take James's ribbing of Sara seriously?

Uh, there was a question I asked. I wanted to know your opinion on Talia's design. Did you also feel that her design was lacking in comparison to the rest of the female cast? That's my own fault for not being clear enough in my question. I'll do better next time.

Love the podcast this week. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Batwing also says that the Talon he's fighting moves like Nightwing.

I dont know why everyone is afraid of digital comics! TV, music, books have all went digital and its the best thing to ever happen with them so why not comics?

Must go make comment record with Deathstroke 9 !!!

Edited by JonesDeini

I wasn't invested in that character...at all. I was expecting dude to be cannon fodder, or make a heel turn. Honestly, I'm still waiting for dude to make a return/heel turn right now. Either way he always felt more like a plot device than character. Dudes one of the flaws in Snyder's run.

I never thought the Talons were mindless drones. At least not in the sense that they're mindless killing machines. I always thought that they were the Court's trained assassins...living weapons, BUT living beings with rational thought and personalities nonetheless.

Two of my friends overheard this podcast and both thought Sara was Zooey Deschanel. I just thought I'd share that.

Good episode guys.

I imagine someone has maybe pointed it out but Deadpool reverted back to normal because of the serum. We saw that as a possibility in the ending of the last arc when Evil Deadpool got shot and reverted back to normal then died.

Im really bummed out over the Batgirl books not being great. I've always heard good things about Gale but non of the books from the new DC that she's on have been great like Secret Six. I wonder if she could get put on Suicide Squad or something

I have not been reading the crossover, but after the movie I feel like maybe an Avengers book subscription may be in my future when its all said and done. But I'll be bummed out if I have to pay an extra dollar for every issue so they can give me a digital version that I cant use because I dont have an I pad or Kindle or fancy shmancy devices for them.

Does anyone think that the ladies of marvel might be able to each absorb a portion of the Phoenix power to save the world? Like Ms Marvel, Rachel Summer and Hope, maybe even Scarlet Witch. I think if these are supose to be big players and they aren't coming off as such right now it might be because of something like this. Im not reading the book so I might be way off.

Was happy to see you do the News again this week Sara.

I enjoyed the show (except for the sales figures bits near the start) even with the truncated lineup.

I did this short version (above) to amuse myself (It rained here in Pensacola for most of the afternoon). I hope someone else finds it funny in some way and that no one takes offense.

You've had the writer of the walking dead game on your podcast.

Edited by petes12

Way I see the talons is they're undead cultists. They were brainwashed, yes, but in the real life sense not the programmed no free will sense.

also on x-force. psylocke's lost her ability to feel sorrow (she gave it up to that demon thing in captain britain world). she can't feel guilt or regret etc. I don't think she can really feel empathy now as a result.

Tony, as regards your opening comments about digital copies, it sounded as if you were saying Marvel's pricing is better than DC's in that DC adds an extra dollar to the regular price when there's a digital code included, whereas Marvel doesn't. But given that Marvel only gives codes with $3.99 books, which generally have 20pp of story, whereas DC adds the dollar to books which are $2.99/$3.99 for 20pp/30pp of story, surely DC gives us a better deal as they give more for our money in the first instance? I never bother redeeming the digital issues. I want the comic OR the digital. I've heard you chaps explain previously that you generally avoid Walking Dead details because so many people read it in trade, but loads of people read loads of comics in trade. Just give that old spoiler warning - any periodical should be fair game.

Oh, as for the dead character in Batman #9, I'm going with feint. He's likely a Talon after all, with the restorative formula and about to revive as Batman leaves ... he's sending Batman into a trap.

I sense this weird kind of tension on the podcast between these two the past few weeks and it really bothers me. There is a kind of diva attitude emanating from the female voice and a cowed/sullen tone emanating from the male voice I don't really know either person except through this podcast but I fear that something is going on behind the scenes that has created a schism in recent days, hopefully it can be healed and they will return to their normal relaxed tone with one another.

It is ok and more exciting to disagree on things as long as you don't try to kill each other like Storm and Thor. As for the latest batch of dc reboots, I am ok with frequent reboots of the same title like Deathstroke to try to boost sales. Deathstroke has fought aliens from the beginning such as Starfire. I am also happy to see reboots of Zealot and Omegas (omega men). Pre-flashpoint, I remember Primus was dead for many years. These reboots are good bec. they are able to bring back old dead characters.

I don't know about Alan Davis art being a generational thing, I was born in the early 80s, grew up in the 90s with stuff like the X-Men cartoon, the birth of darker gritty comics like Spawn, and the Fresh Prince TV show, and I love his art. The way he puts such emotion on their faces, animation into their poses, and I can't get over how he can slap a dark black shadow running down a characters face and have it look completely natural. I wanted to ask him this when I met him at the Comic Con last year, but completely blanked when I saw him and gave him my Excalibur to sign and then said thanks. Grr!

Whats wrong with comic creators?

THAT is a very good point! That completely slipped my mind.

This is EXACTLY why I've avoided this series in a nutshell.

@boopie:They sound the same way they always do.

Don't like the switch from Ms Marvel to Capt Marvel. At least not the costume. Her current one is classic. Same with Power Girl. Nothing wrong with the ladies liking to show a little skin. It's important to keep your body temperature low when fighting crime.
