Platinum is a robot created by Dr. William Magnus. She is designed to mimic the properties of the metal platinum (like spinning herself into a fine wire). Edit
Backstory
Sharon Magnus was a scientist for Magnus Robotics with her husband Mike and his brother Will. While developing new military robots, an experiment went awry, and the minds of them and three others scientists were absorbed into the robotic "responsometers", giving birth to the metallic beings called the Metal Men. Now calling herself Platinum (or "Tina"), Sharon had no memories of her former life, but believed herself to be a real robot. Will Magnus, the only one unaffected, kept it a secret while dedicating his life to find a way to change them back. The Metal Men adventured and fought evil for years. However, Tina could not suppress all her humanity, but fell in love with Will. He stubbornly refused to acknowledge her feelings, blaming her "faulty responsometer" but actually feeling shame towards his brother. The Metal Men eventually learned the truth about themselves, and accepted the fact that they would not be human again.
Platinum was the first of the team of Metal Men built by scientific genius Doctor Will Magnus. Nicknamed Tina by her creator, Platinum was unlike conventional robots which are limited to certain preprogrammed tasks, because she was powered by a responsometer, a nuclear powered microscopic activator. Not only did this device animate her body, but it endowed her with a distinct and decidedly human intelligence and personality. Due to the latter fact, Doc Magnus was going to place Tina in the Science Museum; her activator was too perfect and Tina, to his mind, was too much of an annoyance for him. However, Doc would have to put up with that and much more as, over the months and years, Tina convinced herself that she was in love with Doc. Platinum never got to that science museum, because before she couild be taken there Doc Magnus was alerted to a potential world crisis, and in response he built the rest of the Metal Men.
Updated
Recently TIna and the rest of the Metal men are rebuilt with a new apperance and body, and is now named Platina. She still has all of her powers, and still has a crush for Will Magnus as always. The Metal Men were shown in the Supermna/Batman series the team are hired by Lucius Fox as security for WayneTech, but come under the influence of Brainiac.
Powers
Tina has the ability to stretch or shapeshift any part of her body into anything, like the rest of the Metal Men.
